Seattle let perfect game be thrown

Great pitching by Humber, but make no mistake about it--he is an average arm who faced an undisciplined hitting team.

I pointed this out in another thread, when they had King Felix the other night, they made Timlon look better than he was also. They swung at the first pitch in the later innings not once, but EVERY batter except Figgins. Just taking 3 called strikes would have been better for Seattle, all the way to the 7th inning, then swing at hittable pitches. It expends energy to strike hitters out.

This was not all Humber--it was all Seattle.

You have a million dollar pitcher in Felix--a lockdown starter, and he gets outdueled by an average arm.

Wouldnt be surprised if we see a few more shutouts on the M's by anyone who throws strikes with location, especially the next few days. FADE

I would also fade Humber in his next start.

No pitcher could ever throw a perfect game without the help of the opposing team.

Stop being a hater, Humber didnt have 1 three ball count until the 9th inning. Thats DEALING

Also, if you knew anything about Humber you would know he was slightly above average before yesterday. Last year he threw an 8 inning, 3 hit shutout in Yankee Stadium, and also have a streak of 9 games where he went 7-0.

He also just added a perfect game..Thats above average to me

Not sure any of you guys were at the game, but it was really wierd to hear the crowd cheer on Humber--like it was a home game for him. They were cheering every out ENTHUSIASTICALLY.

Call it good sportsmanship more than sarcasm. They wanted to see him get it. The best fans are always up north, whether Wash. Ore, Wisconsin, Mich...

i didn't take the time to read the whole thing but anytime you throw a perfect game its and incredible feat by the pitcher, doesn't matter who you face.

I neglected to concede that; my point was, that he would have never been able to do that against, say the Rangers. He does not possess the repetoire, the velocity, and he is not even their #1 starter. Marners were terrible in the loss to the Tribe with Felix on the mound. If you were NOT so FUCKING lazy you would have addressed that issue, but alas, you are just one myopic dumbass who doesnt understand the point being made.

I would argue that he could do it against anybody. Are the Rangers or the Yankees better hitters than the lineup Seattle trots out there... Of course. But, even the best hitting, most disciplined teams get schooled by a pitcher hitting his spots and mixing pitches and speeds well.

Humber can throw three pitches well, and his slider was awesome that day. If you have ever stood in the batters box against a MLB pitcher who is locating his fastball, and can throw a nearly perfect sldier on every pitch, you would appear undisciplined too. I personally never made it that high in the ranks of baseball, but I played quiote a bit up through college, and when it looks like a fastball, and it moves 2-3 inches away from Righties, you have no chance.

I would argue that had one of those teams been in the opposing dugout, they might have gotten a hit or two or drawn a walk. Either way, he was dominant and earned a win and got the bonus of a Perfect No-No.

Quantum_Leap youre stupid. So youre saying it's other team undisciplined hitting fault.. then there would be well more than 21 perfect games in the book. So quit bein a biatch and give that man props for gettin it done for MLB's 21st perfect game.
