BC comes in as the 4th best team in the nation in Offensive Effeciency, against a 127th ranked URI team. BC has also had a much tougher road thus far fro a SOS standpoint, with better results. One thing thats scary is URI's success at defending the 3ball, as BC shoots the 3 ball alot, on 43% of all shots. However, they have gone up against similar defensive teams with big success. Best man on the court is still Reggie, and URI has not faced a top 100 team since Dec 4th. Public on URI early, fine by me.
WAKE FOREST +16 1.1/1U
These guys have been shit. But 16 points? Talk about no faith in a turn around. One thing they do well is shoot the 3 , this combined with Richmonds inability to shoot FTs well, I think this can get to a single digit game. WF is a young team, they do have talent, they just got to learn how to play defense.
NOTRE DAME +2 1.1/1U
These senior led teams know each other quite well by now, and ND has got the best of GTown the last 2 years. Like them getting a couple points here with GTown coming off a big win. Do not like they have Syracuse on deck, but this game will be the priority and focus. Wish I was not working, because this should be a great battle.

This will not be a popular play, the total has already been beaten down 2 full points from the open. I do not see it going any lower, so jumping on now. The #1 and #3 ranked offensive effeciency teams in the league in a game projected at 192 possesions. Also a rivalry game with a line less than 5, could see points accumulate quickly in 4Q if it is tight. See each team getting to triple digits in this one. 104-101

Wizards +10 1.8/1.5 Good spot for the Wiz to be the deepest they've been all year. Keep it close.
OVER 179 ATL/MIL 1.1/1U Pace stats show this one at 183-185 possessions, ref assaignments favor the over here and in a tight game could see it sail over at the line. Think we are seeing an overreaction to recent outcomes.
TWOLVES +5 1.1/1U Statistically I have New Orlenes only 2 points better than Minnesota. At home, I will take the "value" line in a game they could win.
NETS +7 1.1/1U Rest, home court, motivation all in favor of NJ here. 7 is too much IMO.

LOOKING DEEP INTO THESE 3 I FELL IN LOVE WIT AT FIRST GLANCE.
NYJ +6 : Pittsburgh's 3 losses have come against teams who rank in the top 10 of overall offensive line effeciency. NYJ OLine ranks #2 overall and in top 10 for run and pass blocking. With protection comes success against the Steel. 6 is too many, and you know they will be motivated.
SEA +8 : Another cae of motivation here and just a simple situational bet. Atlanta flys out west to play a team they should beat easily, while they have the Saints on deck. Seattle has played fairly well at home this year, and 8 just seems like too many in a must win game in front of thier home crowd.
UNDER 48 JAX/INDY: I see a running clock in this game. Indy has trouble against the run, Jax will have trouble defending the dink and dunks. Should see a lot of sustained drives, and in a game of this magnitude, I have more faith in the defenses stepping up and making plays when the field shortens. Will be FG's a plenty. I see a 23-19 type game

2-1 SUNDAY +1.8U
Random Stat: Home teams went 5-1 ATS today
MONDAY LEANS:
HORNETS +11: Tempted to lock this in now hard to believe this line grows any higher. Thoughts? I think the Hornets strengths match up well against the Heat's weaknesses. Getting good value after Miami rolled through the West Coast trip and the Hornets "no call no show" today in Philly.
MEMPHIS -3.5: Blazers are a different team away from the rose garden and Memphis is catching some rythym now as they go for 3 in a row. These 2 teams really match up well, so this is simply a situational play, if a play at all. Blazers do have Mavs on deck.
BUCKS +9: Tough to bet against a team as hot as the Mavs, but with a projected 186 total possesions in the game, and witht the Bucks ranking 5th in overall defensive effeciency, it may be tough to get DD separation in this one. I am leaning UNDER here as well, I see a 92-86 type of game in this one.

YTD BC WAGERS: 4-1 ATS
Dont have much time for a lengthy write up here today, but after 2 straight games going against BC ATS, I will be on them today as 8 point dogs in Maryland.
Jordan Williams will be a pain for BC today for sure, but I like what I saw defensivly from Josh Southern last week and Donahue continues to play his defensive/offensive line switch early in the games, where you will see defensive specialist Dallas Elmore likely assisting Southern down low. BC has not stopped thier game plan on offense, as they continue to shoot the 3ball at a very high rate (43% of their possesions) and most importantly, the 3point% has steadily improved, even against tough perimeter defenses (i.e Providence). This is an interesting game as you have a slower paced BC team, who rankes in top 10 of overall offensive effeciency, against a faster paced MD team who ranks in the top 10 in defensive efeciency. Maryland is terrible at the stripe, shhoting 63% on the year, a recipe for disaster when laying big points against a conference opponent. In the end, the strengths of BC (perimeter shooting and FT shooting), the seniority of BC will give them the ability to keep this game close. Oh yeah, Corey Raji also returns today, he is a huge piece of this team and a great contributor both defensively and offensively as their 6th man.
72-70 Final

I am interested in seeing what BrianLaverty has for insight from an angle of a Friars fan, but here is my view from a die hard Eagle fan.
Take the points. Not only do I feel Providence covers this game, I feel they have a good shot to win this game. I for one am hoping BC pulls out a win, but laying 6 against this young talented Big East team is too many.
BC has yet to play a team with the extreme up tempo style of basketball. This scares me. Not only do they play fast, they crash the board very effectivley and should win the rebound by a good margin tomorrow. Push, drive, crash...BC just does not have the "athletes" to defend this offense that has fast lengthy guards and good rebounders. I still think Reggie will be the best player on the court, and although he has the offensive spark and will score points, defensivly he will be challended tomorrow. Watching Biko and Rubin try and guard the very talented frosh Gerad Coleman (who broke my heart by not coming to the heights) will be interesting, and I see a huge advantage and mismatch for the freshman there. (Assuming Raji does not play, he is a key piece and may be the only lengthy athletic guy who could match up, however is listed as questionable.)
As I stated before in past BC games, this BC team loves to live by the 3 ball. Although they have a mediocre 3point percentage, they continue to put it up 42% of the time in attempts (17th in the nation) and convert 34% (170th). Rubin, BC'... [More]

Friday Leans:
Dallas Mavericks +3.5: Rebounds and FT's, too keys to this cover.
UNDER 213 IND/PHX: 193-195 possesions that this game will be paced at will make it difficult to get it to +210. Especially with a team coming off a B2B against GS now going up against a solid defensive Pacers team.

ST. JOES +19 3.0/2.5U *large play*
Short n sweet. Backyard rivalry game where St.Joes has NOT lost by this margin since 2002. Always are up to playing this game hard. Neither team shoots the 3 ball nor takes the ball away much, may make it difficult to get the separation to this margin. Putting a lot of faith in St.Joes talented freshman contributors here. 79-67

MIAMI HEAT -4.5 2.4/2U
Yes, the Cavs will give there best rffort tomorrow night, but this will be a good watch as the rest of this Miami team should be just as motivated to ensure Lebron gets out of there with a big victory. Miami has lost there last 2 second games of B2B's, so I am definitly going against some trends and basic handicapping principles in this one. However, look at tonights box score, the Heat stars got plenty of rest, they were able to ease Dampier into action and got solid point play by Chalmers in limited minutes. Heat will be too much, talent prevails over revenge tomorrow.
Posted Wednesday, December 01, 2010 03:05 AM
3-1 Tuesday +2.6U , 8-3 run.
Wednesday first look leans:
DET PISTONS +12: Lebron look ahead? Slow pace/ defense may make 12 a tought cover for the Heat.
TWolves +10: 3-1 as DD dogs this year, a team that leads the league in rebounds and does a great job with takeaways (yes, they give it away a lot too). But with 3 days rest and going up against a hot Mavs team due for a let down. Public is on Mavs big early on, will be intersting to see line movement here.
WASHINGTON +?? : If there was ever a time for thier first road win, it is now. This team is much better than its record, and more talented than the Raptors. Time to get it going...
LAKERS -6.5: After losing three in a row, it is time to pounce on rare value for the Lakers.
Posted Wednesday, December 01, 2010 02:43 AM
SEASON: 34-33-3 (-1.3U) 5-3 TUESDAY (+0.6U)
WEDNESDAY LEANS:
LOYOLA OF CHICAGO +4: Thinking public drives this to 5+
ODU ML: Can't lay the points in this one that should be a snails pace, defensive battle. I see it close, but like ODU at home with the Richmond letdown angle screaming loud.
BC -5: Underrated senior based BC team who has been effecient and impressive (outside the Yale game) under new coach Stevie D. Indiana has played in 4 "non lined" games and the other 2 games were favored by 8 and 12, finally some competion. BC has been battle tested, playing the likes of Tex AM, Wisky, and Cal. Always like having the best player on the court on your side, and I think Reggie Jackson is it in this game, keep taking care of the ball and executing and 5 should come easy.
SD State -6: Revenge factor here. Better, deeper, team only laying 6 on their home court. Will be interesting to see how this line moves.
Duke -11.5: Seems like a lot, a real lot for two top 5 teams going at it. But when it comes down to it, I can see Duke pulling away at the end as MSU is terrible at the stripe where Duke will thrive. May dabble MSU 1H and play it from there....
