i like all on your list rockdog.  i would add on Gladiator.

My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the

North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor,

Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife.

And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.

what with Platoon and Full Metal Jacket being two of your favs, I'm suprised you didn't list Apocalypse Now or the MUCH more complete Apocalypse Now Redux. just the addition of the French Plantation scenes makes for a better and more logical story.

my current "there's nothing else worth watching" fick is Snatch. SO many funny scenes

You could've saved yourself a lot of typing if you just listed your movies, and then at the end said "Seen them all about 10-20 times"

Anyhow, pretty good list.....and anything with Gary Busey, I've seen at least 37 times

I'll take a wild stab at this (I've seen this lots of times too) without going back and looking.

2 wild guesses: Willie Mosconi (just cause I know he was a technical director)

Minnesota Fats (just cause he was one of Mosconi's main opponents n friends for years ) He always had that bartender look too.   I'm kinda a pool junkie.

Probably wrong but those are my wild guesses.

=========================

I know what you mean by watching old movies n always discovering something new.  The more I watch The Hustler the more I realize just how every cast member was so seemingly perfect for their role.

I also loved the negotiating of the gambling scenes and how they're so competive against each other while at the end of each match they have the utmost respect for each others skills and character.

MoneyShot says:
05/02/10 03:46PM

are you serious? you are obviously kidding right. you dont watch movies that many times over and over again.

MoneyShot says:
05/02/10 03:49PM

then again, who knows i might of seen some of my movies 10-20 times too...

braveheart, lord of the rings, dumbdumber, last of the mohicans, rounders, lockstocktwosmokingbarrels, office space, star wars, wedding crashers.... so many more too.

BroadwayBob says:
04/09/10 09:59AM

Good guesses from a pure handicapping angle.

However it was the one and only: Jake LaMotta.

BroadwayBob says:
03/13/10 07:29AM

Watched The Hustler a couple of days ago for the umpteenth time.

I am a bit of a movie addict. I love it when I see something that I

hadn't noticed before when viewing old movies. Noticed two bartenders

in The Hustler Vincent Gardinia in the very first scenes and extra

applause for anyone who can come up with the person who played the

bartender in the bus depot when "Fast Eddie" meets the Piper Laurie

character.

A Clockwork Orange. excellent pick OzFactor. worth watching just for the fight scene in the old casino to the music of Rossini.

   for "The Dude"

I will add the old post WWII movie "Task Force" with Gary Cooper and Walter Brennan because it's the basic history of Naval Aviation from it's beginning through WWII. GREAT viewing for those into naval or aviation history. when I need my "I didn't REALLY waste my time flying off boats during Vietnam" patriot fix, I watch this flick.

There are a bunch already listed that I can watch over and over.  I think my number 1's would be Snatch and Hunt for Red October.  I can't stand when I switch channels on a saturday and a channel like TBS or USA has Hunt on because I will invariably end up watching it from whatever part I catch it at until the end.

I will add two I didn't notice in anyone's list:
Firefox
Rising Sun
