Super Bowl Score from the GURU himself-

I spoke to the man known as the GURU, he is a football machine with extensive knowledge and this is what he has told me-

He described the game and how exactly it will go down and personally I tend to agree with his assessment-

He said basically people are sour on New Orleans Defense and brough the following points about the Saints-

-They are a Turnover defense- #2 in the league, and you cannot discount this defense- All season long they force turnovers.

-He said they dont really go out and TRY to stop teams like the JETS DO, this is a turnover Defense, they are out to create turnovers- He said they are an opturnistic defense-

-He said New Orleans Defense takes control by blitzing and they are aggressive and they come hard at the QB- he said vs manning they will almost have to take a step back, beacuse when they come to blitz, Manning will audible and that will force Orleans to change their Plan-
He basically said that Orleans will not be able to dictate what the offense does because Manning is so good at audibling.

Overall he said that basically there is little to NOTHING that Orleans can do to stop Peyton Manning from scoring- He said he can beat the zone and beat the man to man and can 100% baet the BLITZ which he did-

- He said that Peyton Manning on superbowl day will the smartest football mind in that stadium. He said he likely knows more about the Saints defense than some of the Saints Defensive starters if you can believe that. I believe it for sure.

-He said the key difference is that BREES is 1 B and Manning is 1A and Brees will go 3 and out and they will punt, he said Manning when he goes 3 and out, they will kick fgoals as he will have moved the team into scoring range-
He cites that as the biggest difference in this game-

He said Indy has the better QB, the better O line, the better Defense and definintely the better receivers. He said Orleans has better special teams with Bush.

He said this will be an offensive game, and that BREES is a good QB, he said he doesent throw bad passes and bad interceptions. He said he threw 3 td's vs Vikings, because he is a very good QB-
He said BREES is very good, but Manning is just better-

He brought an interesting point about REFFING and how it might come into play- He said in the Vikings Saints game, he said in the OVERTIME it was clear the leauge wanted the Saints in this superbowl-
HE said its really simple- FAVRE IS LEAVING- HE IS ready to retire, so there is no need to market him, they need to market their future stars, which is ORLEANS--

He said in this game, the NFL doesent care who wins, but they want a CLOSE GAME, correct me if I am wrong, i read SCOTT GREEN is the superbowl ref and he is the NFL ref that makes all games close, and was the ref wtih the Chargers steelers polamulu INT Td overturned controversy-

On to his pick, he said this will be a CLOSE GAME and INDY will be leading by 3 points in the 4th qtr and they will score a late TD to win 10 points--
I agree 100%, it seems that in big games the spread is always covered with a late TD- Last week Indy scored late to cover, last year Steelers scored late vs Raves to cover-

Coincidentally that is exactly what I THOUGHT and we both had the basic same scoring prediction 34-24 or 38-28 in that range--

I agree and can see this exact scenario playing out, he said Manning will make that LATE PLAY to get that LATE td and the Colts win by 10 points in that game-, but they will be leading by 3 points late in the game and get the cover late--

I will agree the GURU is picking "the obvious play", however, as we all know or should know by now, "the obvious play" doesn't always come in and likely comes in far fewer than most think.

The GURU goes down in flames, 0-2.

I think it's as simple as who's got more Super Bowl experience. Indy has it & New Orleans doesn't. First half might be close. Second half-New Orleans will definitely feel the Super Bowl pressure & down they go. I say Indy by 14.

It's okay Sammy, you can tell them that I'm the GURU.  For all you people that don't understand what a guru is let me help you.

GU...means dark.....RU...means light

I'm bringing you out of the dark, into the light. I was going to try and remain anonymous, but there's no reason to stay hidden anymore. One of you knuckleheads would eventually out me, so before that happens, I'm coming out on my own.

Now, if I missed anymore obvious takes on this game, or failed to enlighten you with the givens in this game....let me know through Sammy.......k?baby

i have to call this out... whatever you do, do not listen to anything this guy ever says... and ESPECIALLY do not listen to anything he says about the Saints or this game in general...

anybody who thinks there is ANY debate over which team has the better receivers simply has no fucking clue how to break down a football game...

you have to be virtually brain dead to think this is even close...

Ice4Blood says:
01/27/10 12:54PM

i am a big fan of Marques Colston... but i'll tell you right now... Pierre Garcon is already better than any WR on the Saints... and in two years Garcon will be recognized as one of the deadliest WRs in the NFL...

again, he is already BETTER than anyone on that team... and i mean his overall game... his speed, strength, fundamentals, route running... as a rookie he is better than any WR on the Saints... and that is a very easy thing to see if you are really watching...

Ice4Blood says:
01/27/10 12:55PM
nobody on the Saints has a shot in hell of containing Garcon... he will easily go over 100 yards, and is a good longshot to win the MVP... he will be wide open all day long...
Europa says:
01/27/10 01:08PM

If Manning and Garcon are the co winners of the MVP award, does book pay you when you bet on Garcon to win the MVP?

Ice4Blood says:
01/27/10 03:17PM
Europa... do they ever give out co-winners for the Super Bowl? seems to me they try to avoid that...

also, the only odds i saw posted for the award didn't have Garcon listed individually... he was listed with the Field...

ièll go against the guru for sure , i love the saints to cover and sprinkle alittle on them to win straight up as well. i will be putting 50% of my profits every day until the 7th on this game, so the next 2 weeks decide how much is on the SB. thered already be 500$ on the game if the redwings hadnt choked last night. oh well. see how tonight goes . peace out all

Ice4Blood says:
01/28/10 12:59PM

i saw you asked that before... i think that question can only be answered if you first ask yourself, "does the Super Bowl ever award co-MVPs?"... and even, "in recent history has the SB ever awarded co-MVPs?"

if they do award co-MVPs... i assume they would split the odds... but seriously, i don't think there is any way they will award co-MVPs...

It happened only once, Randy White and Harvey Martin of Cowboys won co-MVPs in 1977 SB. Not sure how the books graded it if bettors had the winning bets either on Randy White or Harvey Martin.

Hugh_Jorgan says:

I can't tell if this whole "Guru" thing is serious, or satirical. It is so fuckin corny that I hope it is the latter.

"He" said ... The NFL already knows that Favre is retiring so they need to promote Brees, which is why the Saints beat the Viking???

Ice4Blood says:
01/28/10 03:40PM

here is the issue i think you are not addressing, which you need to...

in 1977 what was the total handle taken by sportsbooks on "Odds to win the Super Bowl MVP"?  in other words, the tie between the Super Bowl MVP and the fact that people could actually bet on it was not as big of a deal... now, as commercial as the Super Bowl AND sportsbetting have become, this is a much bigger issue...

my point is... they are not going to award Co-MVPs in this day and age when there is so much money at stake... i wouldn't be surprised if those who choose the winner have been told specifically NOT to award Co-MVPs just to avoid that kind of a mess...

on a side note: has anybody seen Odds for SB MVP that don't include Pierre Garcon as part of the field?  i haven't, but i've only seen a couple sets of odds... if he is consistently listed as part of the field, that should tell you many many things about how this game will play out...

Sammy you are one funny dude. Pierre Thomas made the first down.Did the refs make the Vikings turn the ball over 5 times? Cmon man give me a break. The pass interference call in OT? Please the reason it looked un catchable was because if you look at the replay the Viking LB clearly pulled him down making Cambell who is 6';5 look like it was not catchable. All this BS about the game being fixed is exactly that a bunch of BS. The Vikings lost the game simply because they failed to take care of the football in crucial situations. END OF STORY.

Europa says:
01/28/10 08:11PM

Don't spin it, Ice. My question is simple, how will book grade your MVP bet if the MVP award has to come down with co winners?

If by rule, there will be no more co winners in the MVP for SB, then this is a non issue.

Does NFL set the rule for MVP to be only solo winner? If yes, then my question will become a non-issue.

tweets50 says:

I agree with this analysis. Indy has covered the last 5 out of 7 ATS(with Manning playing the full game) with a late score to win ATS.

I believe INDY wins by double digits with Manning at the helm. 5.5 pt.  spread has always made me think twice about the favorite/dog, but in this case, the books want you to take N.O. thinking "close game"........I strongly disagree it will be a 3 pt game. 5.5 pt spread games tend to be decided by a touchdown or more.  Saints win by a touchdown? I don't think so.

Comments welcome...

Ice for Blood calling me out is a laugh. Now about that man crush you have on Garcon. He is a good player no doubt but as a UNIT I'll take the Saints WR's over the Colts as a whole any day. This is not just a homer call. I have bet against my team as much as on them this year.

Manning makes all those guys around him better. Just like Brees. Can't wait for the game.

Saint_John says:
01/31/10 11:55AM

Semantics vanilla ice. Threw Shockey and Bush in because of the ability to catch the ball. Throw Clark into the Colts mix. You should! After all he does not block anyone in that scheme. He probably catches more balls than any of those great WR's you talk about.

After all this usless chatter I'll still take my guys over yours. Hope that stick leaves you with no splinters when you go to remove it!

Hurry up game time!

Saint_John says:

Wayne the best to ever play the game. You almost had me Ice4blood until that crap. Look. Wayne is a great player but I am talking about the unit as a whole. You have not even mentioned Lance Moore who is the Saints version of Wes Welker! He was awesome until he got hurt this year paving the way for Meachem. Than on top of that throw Bush and Shockey in that WR corp and it is incredible. Don't know why you have such a stick up your ass but take it out for god's sake. These are two great clubs and it is going to be a great game.

I have asked the Maharishi and he agrees with everything the Guru says except how the game will play out in the end. The Maharishi says that the Colts will be winning in the 4th quarter and the Saints will score in the end to cover the spread and possibly win. He has asked the Yogi about this and they are both in agreement.

    Ice4Blood says:

is there a non-Saints fan anywhere on Earth who agrees with this statement?

Wayne vs. Colston (huge edge to Wayne, even though i am a fan of Colston)

Garcon vs. Henderson (edge to Garcon... big edge!)

Collie vs. Meachem (edge to Meachem)

and what really throws it out of balance is the fact that you have Reggie Wayne, who in my opinion is the greatest WR i've ever seen play the game... and i grew up watching football during the Jerry Rice and Cris Carter years... those guys are not as good as Wayne...

so for you to say the Saints have better overall WRs, when the Wayne/Colston edge goes to the Colts (HUGE), and after that it is pretty much even... the only edge you can possibly have is in overall depth... but does the edge at the 4th WR cancel out the edge at the 1st WR?  hell no!

how is it possible to even make such a statement in all seriousness?

    Ice4Blood says:
    01/28/10 09:42PM

i don't believe there is any way they would handle it that way... in fact, if that is the way it would be handled, then i guarantee 100% there will not be a co-MVP...

IF there is a co-MVP... the way they would handle it is to reduce the odds on both... for example, if Manning is (EV) to win the MVP, and Garcon is (+500) to win the MVP, and you have Garcon... i believe you will be paid half of the payout... so your bet would be reduced to (+250), and the payout on anyone who has Manning would be reduced to (-200)...

that is my best guess on how it would be handled... but if they were to handle it as a push, you would have riots in the sportsbooks, because that would mean that the people who won, didn't win, but the people who lost still lost... essentially, the books would be stealing money (moreso than they already are)... blatantly!

    Ice4Blood says:
    01/30/10 10:00PM

i don't have a stick up my ass... but the fact remains, it is nonsensical to say the Saints have a better receiving corps...

the fact that you threw in Bush and Shockey (Bush, who isn't a receiver, and Shockey, who is the lesser of the two TEs playing in this game, by far!)... just proves that you are grasping for straws...

    Ice4Blood says:
    01/30/10 01:36PM

Train... i saw Rice play just as much as i've seen Wayne play... i saw Cris Carter play even more than both of them...

Wayne has a better all around game... he's faster and stronger than Rice, and he is the only WR i have ever seen who i think has as good of hands as CC, who was the best i ever saw until Wayne came along...

he is the best, and by the time he's done, i think he will be recognized as the best to ever play the game... (although Larry Fitzgerald might have a say in it)...

by the way... your statement that Reggie Wayne would be average ANYWHERE... seriously man!  do you know anything about football??? what the fuck kind of statement is that?  why would you even say that?  have you seen the ridiculous plays this guy makes look routine?  the game-winning catch against the Pats this year?  the one handed TD catch from last year that gets replayed constantly?  i mean... these are plays that maybe 5 guys to ever play this game have matched... come on, dude!

does that mean Jerry Rice would have been average if he wasn't playing with Montana and Young?

Sorry,I just don't buy the conspiracy theory. I'm not naive and it wouldn't surprise me if an individual NFL official was on the take(like in the NBA for instance).  But to think of a bunch of NFL execs sitting around in a meeting deciding which teams will be "guided" to wins by favorable rulings on the field, and then telling a bunch of NFL game officials who is supposed to get favorable calls is just not feasible IMO.  There would eventually be a "whistleblower"(no pun intended) to expose the whole thing.  Maybe I'm wrong and the GURU is really DEEPTHROAT.
