Yankees Hot Stove

Might as well make a thread where I can post nonsense and hype up possible trades/signings.

The Yankees are looking to shed payroll (says one source) and keep it around $185 Million. Other sources say they are looking into a starting pitcher and will, more likely than not, sign a starting pitcher. The pitchers in that catagory are Lackey, Harden, Pineiro and Wolf.

Please knock those last 2 off the list. They are nothing but NL pitchers in NL parks and they would not be able to handle the American League, especially the East and Yankee Stadium. Harden I would take a chance on if it's not too expensive. We know what he can do when he's healthy. He can be dominant and I think he would be a solid pickup for the anyone who signs him (yes...that includes the Red Sox). Obviously I would like the Yankees to trade for Halladay, but, in all honesty, I wouldn't mind the Yankees signing Harden.

However...I hope Andy Pettitte retires. I think after such a long season, he may not recover after this one. 36 games this season. 33 last season. I don't think he can hold up for another whole season. I think he should just take the high road and retire. He clinched the ALDS, the ALCS and the World Series. No other way to end your career than that. However...he's at 229 wins, 2 more seasons, if he can handle it, would mean 250 wins which is pretty big for him and HOF talks.

The Yankees are also looking to sign a reliever. It's a pretty big market for relievers this season. No need for a lefty with Marte and Coke, so you can cross all of them off. The only person I could see is Fernando Rodney, and I personally don't even like him. Maybe Brandon Lyon, who the Yanks have took interest in, and I would advise against that as well. And I hope they don't take interest in Soriano or Gonzalez. If I were to choose...I would choose Soriano but I personally don't have faith in those 2.

The Yankees don't need a bat. From what I've heard is Damon will probably come back. Matsui is a goner. And maybe Juan Miranda will be the "dark horse" when it comes to being an every day DH and he'll alternate with other players being DH such as A-Rod, Tex, Jeter etc. He has a pretty good bat, nothing that will blow you away, but still pretty good.

More rumors are going around that the Yankees are interested in Mike Cameron, as they have been for the past few years, and maybe the thought of getting him and traded Melky for someone may be inevitable. I really hope this doesn't happen though as I think Melky is perfect for this team's chemistry and he came up huge for Yanks this season and knows how to do the little things and has a cannon. He also has improved his judgement when deciding whether he should dive for a ball or not. I love having him in the 9 hole and I would be upset if he wasn't a Yankee anymore as I still think his best days are head of him. His OBP could be better but he's still a 9 hitter batting around .270. No complaints here. He had a monster year seeing that Gardner was chosen over him in Spring and he had such a bad 2008 season.

Alright...enough talking...I just cannot wait until Monday. Winter Meetings will be fun.

Pettitte WANTS to pitch in 2009. He has apparently declined a $10 Million offer, which shouldn't be surprising. I really don't see him pitching anywhere else. I think they'll up the deal to $12.5-$13 Million range and he'll take that.

I wonder what they will do if they get Granderson. Do they go for Damon too? If they get Damon...is he the every day DH and Melky goes to left and Swisher stays in right? Interesting scenario.

Now that Coke is gone...do the Yanks go after a lefty reliever? Darren Oliver?  Probably not. I'm starting to have second thoughts on Gonzalez. Maybe he'd be a really good addition to the bullpen.

Just call up Pat Venditte. He can pitch with both hands.

SI's Jon Heyman says the Blue Jays requested Jesus Montero and one of Phil Hughes/Joba Chamberlain plus more from the Yankees for Halladay.

That is certainly doable...they aren't asking for both and the Yanks may bite on that one...depending on who else they would have to give up. Sadly...I guarentee McAllister would be on that list and maybe Betances.

CURTIS GRANDERSON? Best young centerfielder in the game and who's the team that MUST HAVE him? What a JOKE.

And as if that isnt enough, now they are going after Halladay as well. LOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL

Goodnight MLB. Nice knowing you. MLB is done with. Until a cap is put in place just give the Yankees the next six world series in a row. Who would beat these guys next year? THEY HAVE THE WHOLE ALL-STAR TEAM AS THEIR TEAM NOW!!!!!!!!!!! LOOOOLLLLLL WHAT A JOKE!!!!!! They use their TV revenue and stadium revenue to do this shit and NOT ONE OTHER TEAM, NOT EVEN THE METS can even compete. It crazy and of course it is a JOKE. You know it, I know it , EVERYONE knows it except Bud Selig obviously. Sickening it really is. This isn't sour grapes either, this is truth. Baseball has ruined baseball just as much as the yankees and their retarded fans have ruined it.

In no other sport can one team load up with all the best players at EVERY position. Impossible. STUPID!! the other sports have COMMON SENSE and knows that creates UNFAIR COMPETITION, yet the Yankees just keep abusing the system and MLB / SCUMBAG PLAYERS UNION just sit back and take it. AMAZING. Shit, what would the union care? their best players ALL wind up BECOMING YANKEES, so why would they ever bitch?!!!!! ITS MORE MONEY FOR THEM!!! If I'm the owner of ANY other team I'm selling right now unless they put a cap in place. Being invested in ANY team except the Yankees is a horrible investment with the way this league is set up.

If you are a Yankee fan, are you really "excited" about next year now? Do these signings/ bullshit trades (because tehy are only team that can sign him after trade) excite you further? Isn't it more fun to watch your team build up from the ground up like I will watch my Lambs do again? Like the Jets and Cowboys are TRYING to do through draft and key signings? Imagine if the Cowboys or Jets could just go sign Peyton Manning, Andre Johnson, Steven Jackson, Ed Reed, and Patrick Willis to just "solve all their problems" in one offseason by shelling out $500M. WHat would that do to the NFL? Yes, you already know the answer - It would RUIN IT and take the "sport" away. You know how we all LOVE the draft? Well the draft would be rendered USELESS if the NFL operated like MLB. CLASSIC teams like the Steelers and Packers would GO OUT OF BUSINESS. That is MLB. That is your Yankees. Congrats fellas, you bought your way into being winnners - YAYYYYYYYY!!!!! (btw, that's what LOSERS do)

THE YANKEES ARE THE EQUIVELANT OF A RICH, FAT, BORING GUY PAYING A HIGH-PRICED HOOKER $10,000 FOR ONE NIGHT. THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE. THEY ARE LOSERS THAT CAN'T BANG THAT GIRL WITH THEIR CHARM OR LOOKS. THEY HAVE TO GO AND BUY HER. THAT'S WHAT LOSERS DO, THEY PAY FOR SEX. THAT'S THE YANKEES. As Darth Vader told Luke "search your feelings you know this to be true"

No chance...now that they have Granderson, they will offer Damon a contract that THEY want. If he declines, Melky plays left. If he accepts, Damon and Melky platoon left. No chance they go after Holliday. Maybe Halladay. But not Holliday. Cashman made it known that he will not trade Swisher. He loves Swisher. Melky may be traded...but if he goes, than the Yanks would sign Cameron, who Cashman also loves. But simply put...they are not in on Matt Holliday.

Royals checked in on Gardner after the Yanks got Granderson.

I hope they don't trade him. But I'm sure Gardner doesn't care to be a bench player only used in late inning spots.
