Ben Roethlisberger or Terry Bradshaw?

In your opinion, who is the better quarterback?  Your choices are Terry in his prime or Ben Roethlisberger... I was sitting with some of my friends, all Steeler fans, and our answer was unanimous.  And we know our football.  We've been fans for 30+ years.
So who's your choice?  We all said Ben.  Terry was terrible at first, and then he became a Hall of Fame quarterback after struggling for 4-5 years.  But who is/was the better QB?  I know some of you will think I'm nuts.  Some will agree.  But that's what my friends and I believe.

I would take Terry no doubt. This is the 2nd or 3rd best qb in NFL history. Had a great arm, was tough as there was, and after his first couple of years didnt know how to lose.Lets not forget Ben came into the best situation as a college QB coming into the NFL could have. This was a great team already, his job was to not screw it up with turnovers that first year or two. I mean I love Ben and have him 3 or 4 active QBs right now but no way over Terry Bradshaw.

Ben is looking a little chubby in the face, but he'll lose what he needs to in camp.

On good teams, but succeeded but if you look at Bradshaw's individual numbers, they were awful.

A career 71 passer rating, 2 more TDs than INTs. His TOP season passer rating was 88. He completed 52% of his passes with a 7.2 YPC.

I think neither is a great QB, but Ben is more durable and gritty than Bradshaw, neither were very tested or on a bad overall team.

I grew up watching  Bradshaw and there were good passing QBs during his time, so the excuse of a different era does not hold water.

It is a little early too.  I'm sure this question will be much easier to answer 5 to 8 years from now.  I do know it's a ballsy move to take Ben.  Afterall, Terry did win four SB's with the help of his comrads.  To win four SB's is simply amazing, I don't care who you are, or what teammates you have.  Of course, I don't think the Steelers win four SB's without Joe Greene.  Or without Jack Lambert, Mike Webster, Mel Blount, Swann, Stallworth, Harris... You take anyone of those guys away, they probably don't win four.  Likewise, if you take Bradshaw out of the picture, they don't win four.

I agree steel. To win 4 super Bowls as a QB, IMO, you just have to be a top 5 QB. I mean him and Montana right? Bradys close but not there yet. Thats some great company.

Currently I'd have to go with Bradshaw over Ben. Ben's first SB win did come with the help of the officials, in many people's opinion. And to say Terry won because he had a lot of help is like saying Ben carried and willed his teams to their SB wins. Ben was good in the 4th, but their defenses and running games gave him those opports too.

Terry Bradshaw 2nd or 3rd best in NFL history?

In the same company as Montana, "No Ring" Marino, Elway, Aikman, Unitas, current players like Favre (yes I believe he's coming back) and Brady? Hold on a second there.

Imo, he's in the second tier with the likes of Young, Namath, Starr and others.

To each his own.

I don't think you can legitimately compare the two...The game has changed so much since Bradshaw was QB, from the rules to free agency....They both were and are one of the best Qb's in the entire league during their time.

Stats wise understand what your saying. But in his era he was Montana. He dominated his time the same way Montana dominated the 80s.So thats why I put in the top 3.

I've got a question....do you and your "friends" have nothing else better to do than sit around and suck off the Steelers franchise?

I picture "Da Bears" skit from SNL except the Bears shirts are replaced by Steelers garb.

I would have to go with Ben since it's a multiple choice question.  It's hard to compare the 2 since both play in different era.  I'm pretty sure back when TB was a QB, defensive players weren't as big and fast as they are now.  TB is a good QB but Ben got 2 rings within 5 years which is an amazing accomplishment, no matter if it was helped out by the refs or not.
