I really like pounding the first half spreads of college basketball’s powerhouse schools when they are playing against much less talented competition. My theory is that those schools with exceptional talent (UNC, Duke, UCLA, etc) will run out to substantial leads as early as possible in the game. They may not cover the larger full game spreads, but they routinely cover the first half spread.
Below are the games I have wagered using this “theory”. Mind you, these are only the ones on which I have wagered. There are many more out there and someone else can back test them (probably 50/50), but this is what I bet!
My favorite team North Carolina is 4-1 when I bet them.

Guys - I usually am not much of a capper. I tail or fade a lot of posters but here is one game/line that I have to share - as painful as it may be!
I am a Citadel graduate (1986), and I am here to tell you that IOWA -9 is a GIFT! I am considering putting my entire bankroll on the Hawkeyes! It's that good! I love my guys but I gotta go against them!
If you don't know, The Citadel is a military school, and we have a very difficult time getting star recruits (in any sport). Yes, they will fight hard, and the corps of cadets will be behind them, but I think we will get severly blown out! Our only win this year was a tune up game against Grace Bible College! The next game we lost to Virginia Commomwealth ........by 23!!!
The line on this game should be IOWA -29, not IOWA -9.
I would love to see my DAWGS win, but I'll bet with my head, not my heart!
More info from Citadel sports website:
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Bulldog Basketball head coach Ed Conroy and assistant coach Andy Fox will feel right at home on Thursday, Nov. 20 when the Bulldogs host Iowa at 7:05 p.m. in McAlister Field House. Both Conroy and Fox are natives of Davenport, Iowa, where they both attended Assumption High School. Iowa is the first of two Big Ten teams that the Bulldogs will face this season.
The Citadel (1-1) enters the game after dropping an 82-59 decision to VCU in Richmond, Va. ... [More]
