Trend suggests Red Sox have advantage today

Hey gang,

I was looking into the early games for today and realized that the Sox are playing at 11 a.m. Wasn't sure why until I found out about the Boston Marathon.

Apparently the Sox play at home every time the marathon goes (the third Monday in April every year) real early, so they don't interfere with the race.

I checked back and over the last eight years the Bo-Sox are 7-1 on the day of the Marathon. Maybe the early start time is an advantage for the home side?

Oddsmakers must be aware of the Sox success in the early game. They've installed Boston as a -210 favorite against the Orioles.

Not much value but I thought everyone might want to know about that interesting little trend.

Good luck everyone!

Good info, but -120 is the RunLine not the Moneyline.  I'm seeing -210 on ML right now...I might take a shot for 1 UNIT on the RunLine.

Is it really good info?

Unless you can make some kind of correlation between marathon runners and the Boston Red Sox it's called a coincidence.

MLBguru...perhaps I should have worded my previous statement in a different manner.  Lets say it's an interesting trend and not good info.

Is that better??

Thanks Tipsy. It is a huge day in Boston every year and I'm sure the Sox are a little extra motivated to win on BM day. Also, Celts game in Boston tonight so it is one of the biggest sports days of the year in Beantown.

Is it a trend ? Maybe.

Is it a significant trend ? No.

I'd guess the Sox mini-success in this situation has more to do with the fact that this has been a "getaway" game for the opposition over the years.

lamo ...better cappin would be to concentrate on pitching matchups!!!
PINNACLE says:

.........or that they are normally installed as a $ 1.70 to  $ 2.20 favorite......pretty sure that makes them the "odds on" favorite to win the game most times.

7 - 1 last 8 is beginning to look less and less significant.

Yeah, looking at the pitching matchup would be more significant, but it also appears that the BoSox have an Edge there as well even coming from the pen.

Another "trend" that may be useful is that the Orioles suck ass.

A good trend is that the Red Sox have won 24 of the last 30 against the O's at Fenway
