Jazz should be extra motivated tonight

Hey gang,

Jazz owner Larry Miller passed away yesterday afternoon after an eight-month battle with diabetes. He took over the team in 1985 and was pretty tight with many of the players. Covers mentions it in today's pick 'n' roll too.

Here's quote from point guard Deron Williams:

"Mr. Miller was a terrific man and friend. He changed the lives of thousands of people. We have all been blessed by his generosity and love for this community, and I am blessed to call him my friend. He gave us a lot of joy, and we will miss him."

On a related note, the Jazz practiced with everyone on the roster for the first time in months. Power forward Carlos Boozer was the big name back on the court but he's expected to practice at least once more before seeing any game action.

Might be a good spot to play the Jazz tonight in Salt Lake, giving 7.5 points to the Hornets.

Good luck everyone and may the winners be yours.

Larry Miller had his legs amputated Jan. 24. That night Utah was hosting Cleveland as a 3 pt. favorite. Cleveland was on a long road trip and playing their second game in two nights, having sqeaked out a win at GS that went down to the wire. Utah, which has been my favorite team for 25 years, typically dominates at home (4,500 ft. above sea level).

I figured Utah would be extra motivated and Cleveland would be tired. It seemed like a perfect scenario to load up a big bet on the Jazz...which I did.

Final score Cle 102 Utah 97.

We'll see what happens tonight. GL

Seems to me that when a team has that extra motivation, i.e. death in the "family", induction into hall of fame, or similar incidence, they lose. Stick with the over, NO tired, 4th game in nights, b2b, OT in game b4, I see tired legs, lazy fouls, lazy 'D'.

BOL whatever you do

I think WizrduvOdz is onto something. Over the years whenever there has been a tragedy on a particular team, for instance Darryl Kile's sudden death in St. Louis a few years back, the grieving team tends to be more distracted than motivated.

The Jazz used up a lot of energy in their comeback win over the Celtics the other night, and the Hornets are desperate for a road win after blowing one against the Lakers last night. The Jazz still might cover, but just keep in mind that using tragedy for motivation tends to be an overrated factor. Good luck to everyone.
