Bruins w/o leading scorer tonight

Hey guys,

I just heard through the grapevine that Boston Bruins forward Marc Savard is out for a while with a broken left foot.

The Boston Herald is reporting that he is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks, which sucks for Boston because it has stumbled out of the gates after such a great 2008-09 campaign. The Bruins are 3-4 and averaging only 2.7 goals per game. Savard was their leading scorer with seven points so far.

The team’s GM told reporters that Savard actually injured his foot in a preseason practice and was playing with the injury in the first seven games of the year before re-aggravating it in a 4-1 loss to Phoenix Saturday. Boston is also missing winger Milan Lucic, who is on the IR with a broken finger.

The Bruins are -210 home favorites versus the Predators tonight. The total is set at 5.5 goals. Boston is 4-3 over/under this season.

Hope that helps. Good luck B’s fans!

Crosby will play for Pens tonight

Just a heads-up for everyone...Sidney Crosby will return to the Penguins lineup tonight vs. Florida.

I just checked at Sports Interaction and the Pens can be had at -105.

Pittsburgh will be without Sergei Gonchar, but at even money against the Panthers it seems like a solid play on the Pens.

Here is a link to the Crosby story.

Crosby won't play tonight

Just read in the Pittsburgh Tribune that Crosby is going to sit tonight to rest his groin. Also, Ryan Whitney has returned to Boston for family related reasons as well.

"Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will not play tonight against the New York Islanders at Mellon Arena. Crosby is day-to-day with a sore groin."

"Also, defenseman Ryan Whitney has left the team and has returned to Boston for family-related reasons."

Might be worth taking a chance on the Isle tonight. Books are dealing a wide range of prices - as high as -305 and as low as -200.

Good luck tonight.

Bergeron Cleared To Play Tonight

I just read that Patrice Bergeron has been cleared to play for the Bruins tonight against the Caps. Thought this might help make the decision for a little wager on the B's a bit easier.

"Patrice Bergeron was medically cleared to play after practice yesterday and Claude Julien said this morning that he’ll be back in there tonight against the Caps."

This could give the Bruins an added boost in their first game back from the break. Bergeron hasn't played much over the past couple years because of concussion problems but when healthy he's one of the league's better playmakers.

The Bruins are currently a -145 favorite.

Here's the full story from the Boston Herald.

Good luck!

Long break could hurt Panthers

I'm new to the site and I just came across a note I thought I'd share.

The Florida Panthers play their first game after a seasonlong six-day layoff. The hockey club lost four in a row after a short break over the Christmas holidays.

Looks like the books have Florida as a short home fave (-120) tonight against a strong Flyers team.

Might be a good opportunity to fade the Panthers.

I'll be hopping on from time to time whenever I've got a good tip to share.

Good luck guys and let's work together to crush the books.
