Today is the last day of the regular season. I know there is a game tomorrow and maybe a playoff for a wild card spot, but the majority of teams are done. I have been thinking about writing this blog for a long time, but did not want to jinx myself by writing it early. I have won a little money this year, but I did not start off so well. I would like to explain what I think was the reason for my improvement, and I hope to build on my experience next season.
How to succeed at betting bases. In my opinion of course……
1. Bet the same amount every game.
2. Do not bet on heavy chalks all the time. There have been instances where I have laid some serious wood (2.5 or 3-1), but only when I believed it to be an extremely good play.
3. Play a small number of games. The max I play is four, but I’d rather narrow it down to one or two of my strongest plays.
4. Stats are important when choosing a game, but so is intuition.
5. Do not make a wager on the advice of anyone. If you need someone to hold your hand while gambling, you should stop. I do believe that reading forums and looking at what betters are taking has value, but this is to help you make your wager. Basically, do not follow blindly.
6. Watch a ton of baseball. The more you watch, you will have a better feel for the game.
7. Avoid parlays and prop bets. They are enticing, but I can count the number of parlays that I have hit on one hand.
