17-24-4

a really bad beat on the Ball St game, Toledo got 18 TD passes in the last minute with 14 two point conversions to clip me on that one, rest of the card was a little better and I managed to go 9-4 for Week 5 and rebound from the 0-11 performance from the prior week, I think I was able to adapt to the way the lines are being set, that being said, I'm still one of the better fades on the website and I look forward to more betting advice this coming week from everyone as I obviously have no clue what I'm doing

random thoughts from Week 5

LSU did it again, I still think that team is around top 15 quality but Miles continue to pull the rabbit out of the hat and pick up wins, if Tebow isn't up to speed from his head injury and the Gators have 12 turnovers in the red zone then the Tigers should get the upset after Miles go for it on 4th & 21 from his own 18 in the 4th quarter

Snead threw 3 more passes to the wrong team yesterday and continues proving all doubters wrong, what a fantastic prospect he is looking like to this point in the season, honestly whether or not he plays well isn't important, at least his haircut is cool, have you noticed him jerking his head on the sideline back to forth to keep the southern frat boy hair out of his eyes?  chicks dig that

Miami and OU played a very competitive game but without Bradford the results aren't exactly accurate, I couldn't believe bettors were so eager to lay over a touchdown with the mustache backup that had never played a big game, anyhow, the U played relatively well and got an important win and creep into my top 10

Stanford got another big win over the Bruins in a hard fought game, they are a well coached football team that just seems to get the job done one way or the other, they will have their hands full in Corvalis this weekend though as that isn't an easy place to pick up a conference win

USC owned California in about every way possible, stack the box to stop Best and you can beat Cal, Riley is garbage just like I said at the beginning of the year when everyone thought he was improved, that kid is not a good college quarterback but if the same scouts that like Jevan Snead are looking at him then he should be a 1st round pick, USC is back in the top 5 where they belong despite not being the great team they have been in the past, now the early season loss means nothing if they run the table from here on out

Houston's hype wasn't long lived, as I said after last week's win over Tech, they are solid but they aren't near as good as their ranking, not sure how they match up with Miss St yet but traveling to StarkVegas isn't a fun trip for anyone

Kudos to coach Chip K for not scoring 100 on the Cougs last night, he pulled the starters with a 42 point lead and never looked back, he also got some other players a chance to play and keep the starters healthy and fresh for the upcoming trip to LA this week where they face a UCLA team with a good defense, eager to see the line for this game

TCU and Cincy both got easy wins over bad teams and keep their BCS dreams alive, basically what I expected

Watching Noel Devine against Colorado was enjoyable, what a special college back that kid is, he is so quick and so fast and can break one off at any moment, the WVU QB is average though

Washington and Notre Dame was a great game, I have had more fun watching Washington this year than almost any other team, that team has improved so much and I'm happy for their program to see progress under the new coach, Charlie W manages to win another game and his offense is potent but his defense is just bad, he need to recruit some speed on defense and he might turn out to be the right fit at Notre Dame

how about Idaho?  they are turning some heads this season and are an ATS darling, they just keep competing and covering spreads are expanding their fan base across the country with ATS wins

Tennessee may have the worst QB in college football, is he really the best they have to offer at such a big name school?  that kid is a disaster waiting to happen out there, but Berry may be the best defensive player in the SEC, he is very good and actually a pleasure to watch

Auburn's offense is fun and a nice change of pace for an SEC team, they need to shape up on defense though if they want to win the SEC conference, they can't play against CRAPtom every week, Gus M is an offensive guru though, I like watching that team now and look foward to them vs. Arkansas this week, should be an entertaining game with some offense

Texas A&M made Arkansas look like Florida and Sherman made Petrino look like Bear Bryant, they are what we thought they are!

teams that left an impression on me this week include

Louisville- they are horrible
Hawaii- they are horrible
A & M- they are horrible everywhere
UNC- they are horrible offensively
Vanderbilt- they are so bad its comical
Colorado- they need a new coach & a QB change fast
Auburn- they are an exciting team to watch, I like them now
California- what a pathetic team with no fight in them, just laid down and took their beating like they knew it was coming
Arkansas- got a win that was very needed, thanks for the easy cover Hogs
LSU- their players should participate in the Lotto
Tenn- their offense should do laundry for their defense all season
Florida St.- will they hype please stop now, Peter Warrick hasn't been in school now for a decade
Miami-Fl - showed some guts and look to be heading in the right direction, there is finallly hope in South Beach again
Idaho- love the fight in them
Washington- fun to see them improve

My TOP 10
  1. Florida
  2. Bama
  3. Texas
  4. USC
  5. TCU
  6. Cincy
  7. LSU
  8. Boise St.
  9. Kansas
  10. Miami-Fl

tired of typing more thoughts later

you got me on that one as well, you are on fire today StraightShooter, thanks for contributing my losing cause of a thread, what would my opinions matter anyhow?  I'm a 35% handicapper starving for affection from the covers community, I'm also very envious of Jevan Snead And as far as pro scout making the "big bucks" and me not you are also correct, I can barely even afford to eat each week because my picks are so bad, maybe someone with your intelligence level could help me out by giving me some winners or just paypal me a couple of bucks, any help would be appreciated, thanks for your insight

thanks CC, I actually don't like taking a road favorite in a Thursday Night game, I really don't, but I can't ignore the fact that I think Nebraska is the better team this year, being the better team doesn't always lead to victory but I'm betting it will this time, I think Nebraska wins by 10, I hope we are right on that one bro, it would be great to start the week off with a nice win

as far as the games you mentioned are concerned

I can't imagine ever thinking Miami-OH is a good bet ATS but I would take them in that game, they are improving and getting better on offense, off the top of my head I don't think Northwestern is a great home favorite, not certain how accurate that is but I would lean Miami Oh plus the points especially since the game falls in the middle of conference play

I can honestly say I wouldn't bet the ECU/SMU game if someone gave me a free bet on it, I wouldn't know which way to go, ECU has better athletes but they aren't a good road team, they did beat Marshall last week but they haven't proved before that they can do that two weeks in a row have they?  pass for me on that game

sorry I couldn't help more

I guess I could have Ohio St in the top 10 bro as I have said many times this year that there just aren't many great teams in college football this season, I don't know if Cincy is better than them or not but I don't think Ohio State would crush them by any means, I would take Pike over Pryor any day of the week, just my personal opinion and I would take Kelly over Tressel any day of the week

Ohio St is getting better, I can't argue that, but they haven't played anyone since losing to USC have they?  Indiana and Illinois are both bottom of the pack conference teams

I like your team as a top 15 team and they may be top 10 quality but you mention Miami, I would take Miami as a PK over Ohio St on a neutral field every day of the week and twice on Saturday, just my opinion, no offense intended

you make a great point there Ball Picker, that is one of the few reasons I am taking the Huskers, I really thought they were the better team when playing Va Tech and I know that is a hard place to win (UVA fan remember), I think Nebraska should be successful on offense against Mizzou unlike the problems they had getting in the endzone against the VA Tech defense

all very good points and I can see you obviously are an Ole Miss fan, Snead isn't a bad player by any means and he is not an INT machine, he is however under a lot of scrutiny because he has been so hyped all summer long and he isn't living up the hype, he has been less than terrible in two games this season and they have only play 4, I don't count the high school team they played in Oxford as a college game, Jevan was like 7 - 21 against S.Carolina on National TV after stinking it up on National TV against Memphis, he is completing 50% of his passes even with the padded stats he got facing NorthSouthEastWest Louisiana High, bottomline is the kid may be a solid QB when all is said and done but he isn't worthy of any Heisman hype or anything associated with winning an award, he is a good QB for the SEC, can't argue that but he hasn't shown me much more

now we obviously agree to disagree with regards to Snead, I think he is overrated and you think he is a very good/great

from here on out I would ask that you don't open any of my threads or respond to them because I'm here to gamble and discuss games, not argue about Jevan Snead

I wouldn't say AF might be a good play, I only meant they could get within the number because it should be low scoring, I wouldn't bet the game one way or the other and I agree with what you say in regards to their defense matching up with AF

it is unreal isn't it?

Mizzou buried Illinois (just like every other team has, Illinois sucks and gives up early in games)

Mizzou barely got past a poor Bowling Green team at the end of the 4th quarter in their own house, the same Bowlling Green that Boise beat by like 108 points at Bowling Green's place

Mizzou barely got by a Nevada team who shot themselves in the foot all night, had that goal line fumble where Mizzou ending up scoring on that drive after the turnover for a 14 point swing

I just don't see a very good football team so far, maybe they show something different on Thursday Night but from what I have seen, Mizzou is very average

just my opinion bro

  1. Nebraska - 1

  2. Georgia - 1

  3. Wisconsin + 15

  4. Colorado St. + 7 hook

  5. Idaho + 4
  6. UCLA + 4
  7. Auburn - 2

dropped Army & Kentucky, added UCLA & Auburn, 7 plays should do it, may add 1 or 2 if I feel the need, best of luck

should also note that I would probably get out of the UGA bet if I could and add another play I like better, I can't do that though because the line has switched the other way so much, think my other lean might be the safer bet and I hate having money on Cox, but that is part of taking early lines, sometimes I am just wrong on how I think they will move
WahooS says:

yes, they will win the game

I have learned over the years to tune out most of my thread, I just saw your reasons for liking UCLA above and I agree with alot of it, I feel this is a great spot to catch an Oregon team who hasn't been on the road in a while, I like the defensive advantage and the coaching advantage for the home team and while UCLA isn't going to run away from anyone yet I do feel they have a 60% chance of winning this particular game, like you said earlier, GO BRUINS
WahooS says:

yes I know DP, I no longer like that one and would get out of it if I could but the line has switched too much so I'm stuck, UGA is not a good football team

thanks my friend, I actually dropped Kentucky, this is my final card for those who missed it on the last page

  1. Nebraska - 1

  2. Georgia - 1

  3. Wisconsin + 15

  4. Colorado St. + 7 hook

  5. Idaho + 4

  6. UCLA + 4

  7. Auburn - 2

I'm already counting it as a loser bro, I think the rest should have a good chance to cover though so I will be fine, UGA is a mediocre team and their QB is bad, I know the Vols QB is bad as well but UT has a better defense and the homefield advantage, I thought when I grabbed this line I would getting a good line and figured if I changed my mind as the week went on I could easily dump it, I made a rare mistake in line prediction, I figured it would jump to UGA  -2.5 or so, not the other way, anyhow, I'm stuck and I don't want it
