Random Thoughts

I can honestly say that I don’t know who the best team in college football is 8 full weeks into the season

It took blocked field goals and whacked out penalty calls on the Vols for Bama to beat them 12-10 at home, really?  Most of the country feels like Bama is the best team in the land and they can’t throw the football, they have a horrible red zone offense and their QB is not very good.  UCLA went into Knoxville and beat the Vols, enough said

Florida had another sloppy win and Tebow looked below average, I don’t know what is wrong with the Gators but something is, that offense isn’t looking very good right now and they have some injuries, they need to get healthy and figure out the offense if they expect to win another title

Auburn has absolutely fallen off the earth, they aren’t only bad now, they can’t even move the football on offense.  They made a mediocre LSU squad look very good, but don’t let that game confuse you LSU Tiger fans.  Les and Co. aren’t scaring anyone; they are still an average team.

Oregon St. turned out to be any easy cover against the Trojans.  USC got their revenge but I have to give a lot of credit to the Beavers who out gained the Trojans and had more first downs.  It isn’t very often teams can accomplish that when playing at USC.  Riley has done a fantastic job with that team this season and they are playing their best football right now when it matters most.

I backed Arizona this week against UCLA not knowing that Folk had the flu, he didn’t perform that well but the Bruins are so bad it didn’t matter.  Rick and Norm have a lot of work to do with those QB’s.  They were good enough to win @ Tennessee but that doesn’t help them when playing against Pac-10 teams that actually have offenses.  It will be a long last half of the season for Bruin fans.  They have to travel to Oregon St this weekend and that won’t be an easy task.

Idaho oh Idaho finally failed to cover the number and did so in blowout fashion.  Nevada just poured it on the Vandals with 70 points.  The Vandals luckily host La Tech this coming Saturday so they should get back to the winners circle.  La Tech hasn’t won a conference road game since I was about 4 years old and that was a long time ago.

Uconn gave a gutsy performance and showed a lot of heart in Morgantown.  They just forgot one key ingredient when facing West Virginia.  Don’t let Noel Devine get loose in the open field because he won’t stop running until he feels like it.  The players have to travel to Miami to their fallen teammates’ funeral on Monday and then head back home for another conference game.  Luckily they get to host Butt-gers and that travesty of a running game the Scarlet Knights have.  Rutgers couldn’t establish a running game against Army, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, okay now my stomach hurts

Were the oddsmakers serious with the Pitt/USF line?  For the 2nd straight week I have faded USF and loved it.  Pitt completely owned them and I fully expect South Florida to go in the tank like they are known for this time of year.  If I never see that coach of theirs acting a fool on the sidelines again them I’m good.

Watching the Iowa/Michigan St. game was worse than getting a triple bypass done.  Michigan St. drives down the field with nice precision to take the lead and they decide to play a prevent defense with 2 minutes left?  Iowa couldn’t score on them all game and Stanzi couldn’t take that team down the field in under 2 minutes if he had Randy Moss.  Why go away from the defense that had you leading in the first place?  What a terrible coaching job by Michigan State’s staff.  Iowa escapes with another win and keep the dreams alive of an undefeated season.  It could just happen because the Big 10 is a joke. Iowa is the only likeable team in that conference for me but watching them run around the field leaves me wondering if they have 4 lbs of lead tape in their shoes, they may be the slowest top 5 team off all time.

Christian Ponder is the best college quarterback I have seen all season.  He has a great arm, he is accurate, he can run and he makes great decisions.  It is too bad he is on a team that can’t play defense and he is surrounded by undisciplined idiots. UNC should have won and covered that game.  Florida St couldn’t stop them from running the ball all night, they had a huge lead at home and TJ Yates tries a stupid roll out throw to the end zone to give FSU all the momentum.  The rest is history from there.  Butch never could beat Bowden and he once again proves that.  That is what I get for trying to outsmart the oddsmakers and adding UNC last minute.  It should have won but it was a stupid bet on my part.

Quack Attack just handed the Huskies a major ass kicking.  After losing their opening game to Boise St and losing their best offensive player the Ducks have quietly won all of their games and are easily a top 10 team.  They host the Trojans in what should be the game of the week in college football.  The winner has a legit chance of winning the conference.  The Ducks control their own destiny.  Chip Kelly has done a fantastic job with that team and I think I have to retract my statement that he was in over his head.  He is clearly proving that theory wrong.

and thanks for the compliment in regards to capping, it has been a rough season, finally starting to turn around

not sure why the post above got messed

I have actually been to the grove several times, I dated a girl from Ole Miss for a while in college, she was one of the best looking girls I have ever seen, the grove was full of them, that school could compete with alot of others when comparing good looking women

however, most of the state is full of white trash, that doesn't mean you are, that doesn't mean everyone is, I just know how most of the fans and people from the state of Miss were that I met, I don't what the state stands for in general, don't have a personal vendetta, just don't like Mississippi

I can honestly say that Oxford does have some of the finest college girls around and they are high class high maintenance women (not white trash), was very shocked the first time I visited there, the girl I dated was a spoiled brat but she was so hot I didn't care, I just bought her shit and banged her, it was wonderful
WahooS says:

that is most likely true, can't say any of the students I met appeared to be white trash and like the breakdown of SEC stereotypes, that is nicely done

thanks for the compliment, I wish I was having a better year, but I can honestly say I'm doing my best, I have given maximum effort this season, just hasn't paid off just yet

as far as Kansas/Texas Tech is concerned, I was told Sheffield could actually play this Saturday, I will find out more this afternoon, if he is for sure out, then I like Kansas and will bet them at + 7.5

I already dropped Wyoming but I'm leaving F-Intl

I haven't much of Ponder, I was extremely impressed with him, he is one of the more impressive "pro style" QB's out there, seems like a great prospect (not sure what his actual size is)

thanks Maine

should read I haven't "seen" much of Ponder

you could be right, I may replace them with Kansas if I find out Sheffield is OUT for sure this afternoon, it is hard to trust ASU but their defensive line should be able to contain Best which will force Riley to beat them

that is awesome you just mentioned UNC, I just dropped them thinking that will be an awful bet to follow knowing that Va Tech is going to win the game, but praying for a low scoring defensive battle and the cover, well, no thanks, I opted to pass and make it a 7 pack

I have stated I leaned to UK a few times this week in other threads and this one as well I think, what line are you betting that game at because I have a few different options there as far as lines go

  1. Idaho - 2.5 hook

  2. Boston College - 3 hook

  3. Ole Miss - 3

  4. Florida Intl - 4

  5. Oreg St. - 8.5

  6. Utah St. + 17

Maine,

give me your thoughts on a few games as well, just trying to see what you think, you can just put down leans or no opinion if you like, no writeups necessary

  • Temple/Navy
  • UGA/Florida
  • Kansas/Texas Tech
  • Kan St / Oklahoma
  • Duke/Virginia

WahooS says:

  1. Idaho - 2.5 hook

  2. Boston College - 3 hook

  3. Kentucky - 3 hook

  4. Temple + 7.5

  5. Duke + 7.5

  6. Oreg St. - 8.5

  7. Utah St. + 17

drop Fla Intl, Cincy, Ole Miss

add Duke, Temple, Kentucky

alot of shaking up trying to narrow down the card, just don't want that many open wagers out this week, 7 is a good number this week while I'm enjoying the week on the West Coast

thanks Maine

I was leaning very heavily to both dogs just wanted to make sure I wasn't mad at UVA, I think if Duke can avoid the turnovers like last week against Maryland then they can win the game, UVA just doesn't seem right and Duke is getting better

CARD IS FINAL FOR SURE, Best of Luck to Everyone

bro, I just bet them?  is it still a lean for you?  I even bought the hook, paid low juice for it but still, don't fuck with me Maine, it is only Monday
WahooS says:
10/26/09 06:06PM
I have been leaning Kentucky since yesterday when the line came out Maine, so I won't blame you if it loses
WahooS says:
10/26/09 06:09PM

this card is final, I'm not touching it again, 7 plays, here they are in color cuz I'm an artist

  1. Idaho - 2.5 hook

  2. Boston College - 3 hook

  3. Kentucky - 3 hook

  4. Temple + 7.5

  5. Duke + 7.5

  6. Oreg St. - 8.5

  7. Utah St. + 17

I'm feeling 6-1 with those, might even sweep the board

WahooS says:
10/26/09 06:14PM
you know I'm only giving you a hard time, I like them as well, Miss St will have problems scoring in my opinion, I'll take the Cats over the Dogs, Cats are quicker and have nasty claws, it has to be a winner, so tell me bro, am I going 6-1 or 7-0 this week?
WahooS says:
10/26/09 06:33PM
I like them as well but the line is steady and I can grab them tommorrow if I like, just didn't want more than 7 plays for now and wasn't going to leave road chalk on my card but you are right, they are the play, I just always hesitate to back Jevan because he plays bad when my money is on him

I know you like the Eagles and I don't dislike them, but I took Washington + 4.5 1st half tonight so I could actually watch the game and have something to cheer on, it will probably lose but hell, I have lost plenty of NFL games before when forcing a bet for action

WahooS says:

go easy on yourself GAM, I'm sure you have a better record than I do this year, most everyone on earth does
