Will the next Terrelle Pryor attend Ohio State?

First of all let me state once more that I am from Columbus and love my buckeyes.  My concern is over coach Tressel and the handling of T. Pryor.  I am not a Tressel basher, I believe that his overall record speaks for itself.  I realize the bashers will say that the buckeyes play in the shitty big ten.  That is obviously not Tressel's fault, he can only play the teams that are scheduled.  I realize that they have lost big games as of late, however, they have also played well in a few of the big games during his tenure.

Now to the point of this thread....Tressel was able to land the  prized recruit in Pryor.  However, due to the way that Tressel game plans(it is successful) I feel that Pryor must sit at night and question his decision to attend Ohio State.  I dont want to hear that all that matters to him is winning, that is bullshit.  This kid had to believe that the buckeyes were a short pit stop on his way to the pros.  I cant help but think Tressel's game planning and minimizing of a play book has really, really, stunted his development, I realize I am speaking the obvious but I have to say it anyways!

I believe that Tressel had a tremendous opportunity continue to land this kind of athlete by allowing Pryor to do sooo much more than he does.  I believe that Tressel has ruined any chance of landing this kind of prized recruit/quarterback in the future and that is unfortunate for me as a buckeye fan.  Do we honestly think that the quartebacks in high school that are considering the top schools want to play for Tressel?  There is no way in hell that the kids are saying I cant wait to get to Ohio State and throw for 68 yards a game!

As a buckeye fan I am happy with a win over Michigan however, I feel that we should be capable of so much more but it is not happening, nor is it going to happen as long as the sweater vest is calling the plays!   I realize that this thread is long and meaningless to most but I needed to get this off of my chest.  BOL to all in your picks in the future!

Here's hoping coach Tressel will have more confidence in Pryor's passing abilities in 2010.

Ashlyn,Pryor wasn't a good fit for OSU he is more of a West Virginia type player. Tressel has tried to change Pryor to play OSU style and when that didn't work tried to change OSU offense to fit Pryor. What OSU is missing is a big back that can get those 3-4 yards and than change up to the pass. To do those things it takes a very good offensive line and OSU doesn't have that. Oregon will give OSU some real problems and will beat down the Bucs(too bad for OSU). Today Pryor would be a 3rd or 4th round pick maybe.

He'd be a 4th round pick as a wide reciever. To assume he would play QB in the NFL is quite possibly the dumbest statement I've ever read on a covers thread.

As a buckeye fan, i have been dissapointed in Pryor's developement, so far. I don't blame Tressel for showing little confidence in him. His throwing mechanics are less than average. When he realizes it takes more than athleticsm and a rocket arm to be a great QB, then i believe Pryor will succeed.

Maybe it is the other way around. Tressel had to minimize the playbook because Pryor was still having a hard time picking it up. The best Pryor can do now is manage the game.

I have a feeling that you will be pleasantly surprised with the Buckeyes offense in the Rose Bowl. Jim Tressel is a great QB coach and I think he will use the preparation time for the Rose Bowl to put in his Pryor Offense which will be used next year that uses his considerable skills. Remember Vince Young did not even play his first year at Texas and was considered a bust by Texas fans until his junior year. As a former high school coach, I get frustrated with Jim's conservative game plan, but I know he can take the time now to come up with something that will make the Bucks fun to watch for the next two years and win the games too. As far as recruiting, he does a great job selling The Ohio State University and he will get the players necessary to continue our run in the Top Ten in the country.
