My take on a possible 72 wins in Miami

IMO, Wade and James are a bizarro version of Pippen/Jordan. As a tandem they are probably going to be as productive as MJ and Pip but neither is as good as MJ, but both are probably better than Pip.

What people forget is that Rodman was the perfect fit for that team. He wasn't necessary for them to win a chip but no other player in the league could have played the Rodman role so well that the team would win 72 games. The closest we've seen since to a player like that was Big Ben.

However, what people fail to realize is how bad the teams are these three have played on. They will each improve just by the nature of the beast. Throw in a top 5 garbage man in the league(Haslem), and a top 5 three point marksman(Miller) and this team could end up being historic. Emphasis on could.

As far as Lebron goes, I think people need to realize that he is not a guard. He is a huge fool who is capable of doing guard things but he is not a guard. He hasn't had a chance to win because he has yet to play along championship level guards. No great big man has ever won without playing alongside a championship level guard. So, lets all stop pretending that Lebron is a guard and reserve judgement for what he does this season and the next 4 or 5 that follow. I can't give him that excuse anymore.

I like to see things that have never happened before. I'm rooting for the first player-gm trio to stick it to the league, players, and fans. I'm sick of great players depending on owners to hire competent gms. Playing for sorry GM's his whole career we never got to see what Kevin Garnett was capable of. We called him sorry and soft. Turns out he might have gone down as an all time great if not for Kevin McHale. There are too many other similar situations to count, but it happens too often. I appluad Lebron for taking the decision out of someone else's hands. Imagine a world where we get drafted by financial planners. How many of you would willingly stick with Bernie Madoff when your contact was up? How many of you would run straight to Warren Buffet if he had a spot open? How many of your peers would be jealous of your luck?

I don't see anything wrong the Heat employing that strategy. What I would have a problem with is the Heat putting him on the floor at SF then asking him to handle initiating/creating/running the offense while a midget is standing around 18 feet away from the basket doing nothing.

They'd be lucky to get to 60.

you seem to ignore the x-factor: injuries. How good will Miami be if LeBron goes down with an acl injury? IMO they probably don't make the playoffs.

How long will it take for Pat Riley to be the new Head Coach?

Injuries are always an x-factor, but I'm looking forward to these guys having less pressure and maybe less injuries to go along with it. Of course, if injuires happen I won't have such a rosie view.

As for Riley, Dwade doesn't want him to be the coach so I'm pretty sure he won't be the coach.

You can't make predictions based on injuries, injuries are an unfortunate luck part of the game "that is not predictable"

Any team that loses it's best player won't do anywhere near as well, would the Lakers have won 3 straight if Shaq goes down with an injury ??

Would the Bulls win 3 straight twice if Jordan goes down with an injury ??

NO-ONE can predict an injury. It's useless even trying !!!

Excellent write-up, your right, KG is the perfect example.

Everyone talk about how he was a great player that could not produce in the postseason because igot out of the 1st round just once.  It's a team game no matter how great the individual player, when put on a very good team KG played very well in the postseason.

And let's remeber what MJ talked about , he said hew approached every game as though some-one may be watching him for the first time and he didn't want to disappoint that person, will these players have that same intensity game after game after game ???

The one thing Pipen brought that these players may not do as well, he was a great defensive player with long arms that could clog the passing lanes and he was a very good rebounder, better than Wade.

are you serious?  Miami w/o Lebron would easily still make the playoffs.. They got to the 5th spot last year with pretty much just Wade.
