seems like only yesterday we were wrapping up the NBA playoffs with a crazy run.  get that prep work done so we can have another profitable season.  looking to play more sides this year.  just wanted to touch base with some friends since i've been traveling most of the summer and making loose change on MLB.  looking forward to killing the books again this NBA season.

Two football plays for this weekend ... then onto the NBA !!!!

Green Bay minus 7 over the Cleveland  "the Browns will be playing guys from their taxi squad because of a flu outbreak ... they game will not even be close !!!

Iowa minus 2 over Michigan State ... "the Hawkeyes will continue to roll ... State is a year away from making noise in the Big 10 !!!

Getting close fellas.  Man, for you guys that was emailing my yahoo account..sorry about that.  What a mess that turned out to be.  My account got corrupted sometime in July/August.  In trying to clean it up, I ended f*ckin the whole thing up and totally fed up with the spam.  I've had that account forever.  Been traveling most of the summer and I see I have some mail here from very old friends.  Let me catch up with you guys.

Forty...I'm feeling things out.  You know capping is a team endeavor and it's going to take all of us together to turn a profit.  I'm going to play wherever I can get info.  I like the statistical resources here at covers and there are great cappers across the street.  I also have some people I talk to offline.  I need to soak that all in to get the right feel for the action.  You still running the same type of numbers from last year?

WOW...that number took in some action!  I'm going to re-run some scenarios to see if there's any value left.  Any of you guys lock this BOS/CLE U?  I thought it was the POD but @ 185, I'm not so sure.  Gonna watch this one closely for movement on gameday.  I'm also keeping a close eye on the LAC/LAC number.  Getting in this late into the game means trying to find the best value on the board.

He made himself and anyone who read his forum a bunch of money. MORE IMPORTANTLY he helped so many of us learn new things and was able to get a group of cappers to collectively discuss games and angles. It was a very fun season last year and I look forward to much of the same success.

I have been following the UIGEA Law that kicks in December the 1st ... I have a couple off-shore accounts as do most of us and it will ELIMINATE such activity as presently written. Barney "back door" Frank has two bills HR 2266 and HR 2267 that will come up in November for votes ... let's hope he gets them passed ... I'll keep you all posted.

Evening.  I was wondering why you are thinking that Houston has value over the Jail Blazers. 

The Rockets are a new team this year.  They really have no star power.  Ron Artest is gone, Yao is out for the year, and Luis Scola, newly acquired Trevor Ariza, Shane Battier and Aaron Brooks are there to lead the team.   Carl Landry is a decent bench player, and the rest of the team doesnt impress me, especially on the road.

This Portland tean is almost at full strength.  Rudy Fernandez should be playing tonight, Oden is starting, and Brandon Roy is a star.  Throw in the home field advantage, and I like the Blazers to take this by 10 or more. 

I saw the line went from 8.5 to 9.5 and back to 8.5 today, and I'm still not getting why it is going down.

Best of luck tonight.  I'm trying to make some sense of these games tonight, pick two winners, and move to Wednesday!

boston has a decent shot to cover tonight at +5. one of the few times

there may be value on the visiting side in cleveland this year. snagged

the under at 187.


dallas -8 is very appealing, maybe too appealing.


i liked houston at 9.5 but dont really feel warm n fuzzy about it esp

at 8.5 now. portland is purdy good and houston will have much to show

and prove with their whole gameplan changing. no value in the under

here imo. maybe over tho.


anyway i really like this laker over. more than bostons under i think.

BT- for me, I consider magic numbers to be those that can get you from a # of possession to the next.  3 is the obvious.  during the tail end of the game, when it's close (and sometimes when it's not), the teams start playing that 'get 'em to the line' game which i hate about the NBA.  free throws will kill your action in a heartbeat.  what was a certain trip to the window is now a big fat   I was just trying to give that guy advice that 4.5 is not a number to be buying points.  I don't buy points PERIOD but for those that employ this type of tactic, it's worth considering buying only off certain numbers.  BOL to you sir.

 AC, that a great number.  I refrain from "pounding" anything before Thanksgiving :)  I just saw BM drop this line to 184.5  which makes a lot of sense.  If this game plays to 90-86, I'd consider that way under the number.  It's just a little early for me in the season.  No sides are jumping out at me and I'm not quite finished capping tomorrow's board.  BOL with your action, I think you have a good ticket.

Sir, your fundamental analysis is on point. 

Value calculations however is strictly based on current $$$ lines and the probabilty of an outcome occuring.  Unfortunately, I have not the time to explain value caculations but there are vast resources on the net to explain it mathematically. 

The basis is the current money line for a proposition.  Most of the time this is -110.  The other factor is the probability of that occurance coming to fruition.  Plug those numbers into a formula and you will find your value.

Let's take that HOU +430 as an example.  If HOU and POR played this game 100 times, I think HOU 'could' win 32 of those games.  Winning only 32 times @ +430 would still give us a profit of $69 if we bet $100 for each game.  Now look at this from the POR side at -470.  Win 60% of the games and you still end up losing money. 

This my friend is the basis of what I do and many here will tell you.  I am a value hunter.  BOL Sir.

Cant touch this unless I know BD's playing status, I haven't seen any reports saying he will, and he is a bit of a prima donna, so I can see him sitting out with the news of Griffin going down for the Clips.

If he doesn't play this game could very well be 105-85 and not even sniff the over, if he does play you could see a very high paced game with  no Gasol in the game, and a possible Clips backdoor, I am going to probably "gamble" and wager on the Lakers before 3pm pacific time and gamble that BD doesn't play and its a Laker blow out.

AS far as the total I can't touch this until I see the effect that Artest has on the rest of the Lakers defense. I truly believe him and Kobe are gonna bring the defense this year. With Artest locking down the main defender on any competitors team it leave Kobe to roam the passing lanes and the twin towers to block shots. You could see the Lakers in the top 3-5 in team defense IMO...

lol.......pounding for me means confident ax.....my assumption is these two teams made key aquisitions during the offseason therefor creating chemistry problems during stretches of the game (this theory only applies for the 1st month or so)......put in that is the first game of the season and a little defense which both teams possess........at 189.5 is telling me close game in the 90's........not very likable these 2 teams scoring often consistently.......i have this one low 180's if anything......

the miami game has not moved on the total........might go to the game........this year wade planning to get some help from his co-workers.......he won the scoring title from lebron last year so that was a big ego thing for him......miami did not make any significant change other than arroyo......moon left for clevland........maglorie suspended for 2 games (i think).......it will be tim hardaways retired jersey ceremony tommorrow but i don.t think it will have eefect in game........same old for miami......the ball will go thru wade with the second option beasly......middle of the pack defense and really no dominant threat at 1 or 2 spot.........they will beat the teams they need to beat but struggle against playoff caliber teams is my take.......ill keep u posted......

the 210 is up there cause of the knicks........can miami make any donation is the question........

Good luck on the season everyone.

I see a lot of value in the Celtics ML. A lot of chemistry issues being reported in Cleveland. There will be an edge to this game tonight and I don't believe the King has the soldiers to stand with him against the revamped Celtics. 

Do take into account that I am a complete homer.
