NBA Basketball Opening Night betED Lines

Basketball fans, the wait is done. The NBA season gets underway tonight with four games.

The NBA champion Lakers are 11-point favorites to take their crosstown rival Clippers at home at the Staples Centre.

Last season, the Clippers were 31-51 ATS while the Lakers were 42-39-1 and the Lakers are 5-0 SU in their last five encounters.

The over/under is at 203.5 and the total has gone under in five of the last seven meetings between these two teams.

Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are 5-point favorites as they play host to the Boston Celtics in a battle of the top two teams in the east from last season.

Cleveland has gone 5-0 SU and ATS in their last five home games against Boston and they are 5-5 SU and 8-2 ATS over their last ten meetings.

The over/under is at 183 with the total going under in 4 of the last 5 meetings in Cleveland.

The Washington Wizards visit the 8-point favorite Dallas Mavericks in what promises to be a high-scoring affair while the 8.5-point favorite Portland Trailblazers play host to the Houston Rockets to round out the today's NBA betting ... [More]

Series and Opener Betting Lines Up on betED

Lines for both the series and opener are up on betED with the Yankees -162 World Series betting favorites to take Game 1 and -195 favorites to take it all against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Yankees booked their World Series tickets with an ALCS Game 6 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday in which the balanced hitting and pitching of the Yankees was evident.

The Phillies meanwhile showed off some batting prowess of their own led by Jayson Werth's 2 homerun effort as they dispatched the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-4 in last Wednesday's Game 5 showdown.

The series opener will be a duel between two of the leagues best southpaws with the Yankees' 2007 Cy Young winner CC Sabathia and the Phillies' 2008 Cy Young Winner Cliff Lee taking the mound.

Game 1 is on Wednesday.

College Basketball: NCAA Conference Title Odds

With the NCAA Basketball season rapidly approaching, betED.com has released conference championship odds.

Last year's champions, the North Carolina Tar Heels, are favorites to win the ACC at +122.

Other ACC notables are the Duke Blue Devils who are close behind at +150 and Georgia Tech (+400).

The Kentucky Wildcats are the biggest favorites to win their division at -875 to win the SEC East while Tennessee Volunteers (+400) as the team with the best chance to beat them.

In the Big 10, Michigan State sits at +125 while the Purdue Boilermakers aren't far behind at +150.

Last year's Michigan State Sweet 16 victim, the Kansas Jayhawks, are heavily favored to take the Big 12 conference title at -280, but the Texas Longhorns (+200) are also in the Big 12 hunt.

Just like last season, the Big East will be the closest division to watch.

Four teams are clustered together with the Villanova Wildcats enjoying the best odds to win the conference at +205 while the Connecticut Huskies, Louisville Cardinals, and West Virginia Mountaineers all sit close behind at +250.

Finally, the UCLA Bruins (+175) and the California Golden Bears (+200) are the favorites to take the Pac-10 title.

Machida vs Shogun Preview

Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida faces off with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in an all Brazilian light heavyweight MMA championship fight for UFC 104 on October 24th at the Staples Center in LA. Shogun is on the comeback trail and looking good, but the champion Machida remains the heavy favorite.

The former MMA PRIDE champion, Shogun Rua is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai champion who is back in peak form and ready to prove it. When he strikes, he strikes with fury at an opponent from all angles sometimes exposing himself a little to land devastating round-house kicks.

He earned the title shot at UFC 97 in Montreal where he knocked Chuck Lidell out of the match and out of MMA with a 1st round left.

The line, at -410, heavily favors the champion Machida.

Machida fights using a unique style dubbed Machida Karate that combines an ancient form of karate called Shotokan Karate and Brazillian Jiu Jitsu as a base and adds techniques from Sumo, Muay Thai, and Wrestling to give him techniques to use in every situation.

The fighting style makes him a very elusive target for other MMA fighters. Machida starts a match avoiding blows as he searches for a weak spot in his opponent.
