Bmundy 2-1, April 8,2011

4/1 : CWS -107 @ CLE W4/5 : LAA -115 @ TB W4/7 : ATL -110 @ MIL L
Braves bats just didnt come alive yesterday. Today, there are two picks that I like.
Yankees +107-First of all, Sox are 0-6 and pressing hardcore. You better believe they are feeling pressure.-Second, I'm sure the whole Yankee team is daydreaming about how great it would be to sweep the Sox and leave them at a dreadful 0-9 to start the season.-John Lackey got pounded by a strong Texas offense, and this Yankee team has just as much pop in their bats. Could be another long day for Lackey. A lot of the Yankee starters have seen plenty of Lackey in their careers. (Jeter 12-35, Cano 7-30, Posada 10-18, Grandy 5-14, Tex 8-29, Arod 2-28, Swisher 6-39) I know A-Rod and Swish have bad numbers against Lackey, but hey at least they've seen what hes got.-Yanks as an underdog against a Red Sox team without Lester on the mound deserves a bet. Hughes isn't too shabby.
Phillies -120-Braves did me in yesterday, time to go against them lol. But seriously this is more of just a value bet, getting Cliff Lee at -120.-I think Tim Hudson is getting a little bit too much respect here, and unfortunately for me yesterday as a Braves backer, the bats still aren't making the noise that we expect. I dont believe they will suddenly come alive against Cliff Lee.

Tell me your 3 best bets this week

I am in a weekly office pool and you pick the spread of every game, but you designate 3 picks as your 'best bets'. I've been doing pretty good, and already won CHI +1.5, so now I need two more this week.  Im leaning GB and ATL.

GB: Minny is a mess, Favre doesnt look like hes 40 yrs old he looks like hes 50 years old. Percy Harvin is not healthy, and Childress forgot Adrian peterson is the best back in the NFL. GB doesnt need to play great, just good to beat this NFC North version of the Cowboys.

ATL: Atlanta to me is a very well rounded, simple team. Smart QB, ELITE PLAYMAKER in Roddy White, dependable back in Michael Turner, and a solid defense. I've been liking STL alot this year with bradford, but they dont play as well on the road as they do at home. A few mistakes here a few mistakes there, Atlanta will have no problem taking advantage and sealing the deal.

Your thoughts?

monday 1 play

3-1 yesterday, wouldve been 4-0 but atlanta ruined that. i cant complain though, if it wasnt for the nets and portland falling apart, i wouldve been 1-3

so today, i like one game only.

Bulls -2

Analysis:
I know the covers frontpage says take Washington, but I never listen to those fools anyway. Noah will be returning for Chicago tonight, and he means a lot to them. Bulls have won 4 in a row SU and ATS. Meanwhile, the Wizards have won 5 in a row ATS. That should end tonight, when Rose and company come into town and lay the smackdown on this depleted team. Washington has some recent quality wins over Denver and Orlando, but I still cant back them. IMO, this Bulls team is young and just getting better over the course of the year. I'll roll the die and take the more complete team tonight.

does anyone think that..

the knicks could be a halfway decent team the remainder of the year? im not saying they will win a lot, but i could see some value in their lines.

t-mac looked like he could be a productive player, and eddie house gives them someone else who can shoot the ball well. Not to mention they still have double double david lee.

t-mac and eddie house will both be FA after this year, both will want to prove they are worth something.

tonight i wanted to take them getting the points, but i wanted to see them play a few more games. If i see more generous lines going their way, i might have to gamble on them a few times.

your thoughts?

friday is my day

havent posted since before the all star break, just been busy. however, been doing real good. i split on tuesday night, went 2-0 on wednesday, and 1-0 last night. hopefully this run can continue, i need this mannnn.

tonight, a few stick out right away, and as usual i narrowed it down to my 2 top plays. first...

Cleveland -4.5

Analysis:
Lebron is pissed off. He did not want to lose last night, and he knows he is to blame for all the 3 balls he was chuckin up when they were not needed. Jameson MIGHT play tonight, but that doesnt really matter much to me. I just expect Lebron to come out real hungry and pissed after last night.

Bulls -1

Analysis:
Bulls just won back to back games against the Knicks, and still have something to play for. They have a chance to make the playoffs, and they know these are must win games against easy opponents. The Wolves are bad, plain and simple. I'm just worried that Al jefferson could be a beast tonight since Noah is still hurt and cant play. Overall, i feel the athleticism of Deng and Rose will be too much for Minny.

If my Cleveland bet looks good come 9 oclock, I will also be taking the Hawks over the Suns. I like them a lot here, but will only take them if i know the Cavs are going to cover.

Another win last night, starting to pull away i hope. Tonight I knew my bet immediately when i looked at the lines.

Bobcats -2

Analysis:
Bobcats want to go into the break over .500, will play hard tonight. Minny is Minny...not very good. They have been looking better recently though, but I still like the Cats tonight. Should win by a handful.

monday

hey whats up everyone, hope you all enjoyed the big game yesterday.

only 3 games tonight, and none are particularly appealing. however, i reached into my pants and grabbed my nuts, and it gave me the courage to do this ....

Lakers

Analysis:
I havent placed the bet yet, so thats why there is no number. I am gonna wait till right before tip-off, so maybe it will be down to -2.5 or even -2, depending on Kobe's status. I really dont care if Kobe plays or not, I like the Lakers here. We saw on Saturday how good they can be when theyre playing team basketball. Ron Artest came out of the woodwork and had himself a great game in Portland. Bynum is out which sucks, but Mr Gasol should be able to contain the Big Fundamental Tim Duncan. Also, Spurs are in the middle of a long road trip, and thats bad news for an aging team. Richard Jefferson doesnt look like the RJ we knew from NJ and Milwaukee, not to mention Ginobli is having a down year. The game is on TNT which means Kobe will try and suit up if he can, but if he doesnt Im okay with that as well. This isnt one of my most confident bets, but the Lakers seem to be a better bet than Dallas -4.5 or messing with the large spread between NO/ORL.

SnowDay Saturday (8-7 ytd)

Easy win last night with the Suns. IDK why so many people were scared to take them. Lots were saying the line was fishy and vegas was trying to scare people off, but when that happens you just gotta go with your first instinct and ride it out.

Tonight, there are 3 games I am liking, but the only one I am taking for sure at this point is...

Grizz -2.5

Analysis:
Grizz have lost 2 in a row, while the Wolves are on a 3 game win streak. The first two teams they played were the Knicks and Clippers, so lets no give them kudos yet. As for last night against the Mavericks, I would like to think that had more to do with Dallas shitting the bed than Minny actually playing good ball. Memphis is a young team that shows signs of life here and there, and after last nights disappointing loss to Houston, they should come out with some intensity. Especially after Zach Randolphs comment after the Rockets game "they treated us like little girls". Memphis should win easily.

fuckin Friday!

hey everyone. i didnt get a chance to come on yesterday i was real busy doing some stuff, i didnt even realize there were only 2 games, but i didnt like either anyways. Wednesday was tough, the damn Bulls and Spurs really choked on us. 7-7 on the season, here we go tonight.

Suns -2.5

Analysis:
Has this Suns team found itself on this roadtrip? A shocking win over Denver, plus the 2 other road wins against the Mavericks and Hornets gives them 3 straight on the road. The Kings have lost 4 in a row, and just managed to cover against the Spurs the other night. The Suns will close them out tonight, as they are beginning to show signs that their end-game is improving.

bmundy wednesday (7-5 so far)

got away with a close one last night with the Pistons. I'll admit, I was scared for a little haha. It all worked out though. Tonight, no line really jumps out at me as a solid bet, but I do like one enough to wager on...

Spurs -4

Analysis:
I know Tony Parker isnt playing, but that just means this veteran team will rely more on some good defense. The Kings are feeling like shit after their meltdown in Denver, and the Spurs are trying to string together a few wins on this roadtrip. Spurs have won the last 7 against the Kings, and it should be 8 after they win by 9 tonight.

was even last night, but then i took the bobcats second half and ended up on the losing end. its all good though, tonight i'm going 1-0 fo sho.

Pistons -2.5

Analysis:
Fading the Nets. they covered against me the other night when i had the 76ers, and its time to get that back. Also, Harris wrist is still a little banged up probably, and i doubt he is at 100%. Also, this Pistons team will be excited to play the lowly Nets and gain some confidence, especially after they got romped by the Heat. Not to mention the close loss to Orlando. This Pistons team definitely dropped a few levels when they lost Billups, but I still have enough confidence in Teyshawn and Rip to get the job done tonight against the Nets.

"a case of the mondays"

glad i got my lakers bet in yesterday before the line went to -1 lol. as much as i can hate Kobe sometimes, the man is gold in the endgame. Phil Jackson needs to let Brown get alot more minutes than Fisher though, and this Lakers team will be straight. Ive won 4 of my last 5, and lets keep it rolling tonight with....

Lakers -2

Analysis:
Yep, I'm taking the Lakers again. Why not? They are playing good ball and getting W's on this long road trip. Also, when they win tonight Phil Jackson will pass Pat Riley for most wins as Lakers head coach. Until the Lake dries up, I'll ride these small spreads with #24 on my side.

sunday funday

another cover last night thanks to the bobcats, even though things got interesting in the fourth quarter. today, i gotta have some action on the big game, and my pick is...

Lakeshow PK

Analysis:

Boston has been looking like they're over the hill recently. Rashard Lewis blew by KG for the game winning bucket the other night, and this team just isnt playing like the team that won the championship two years ago. Also, the Lakers look like they are over their little skid, and I'll take Kobes side on a nationally televised game almost every time its a PK.

nba saturday

Lakers played like I hoped last night, playing like a team and not like a one man show. Good things happen when Kobe doesnt chuck up 30 shots a game. As for tonight, at first I liked the Heat, but Beasley and Chalmers are doubtful, and Wade and Oneal are a little banged up. Not to mention the Bucks have covered 6 straight. So tonight my play is...

Bobcats -1

Analysis:
Despite their poor road performances, they should still roll tonight. Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace are looking good, and this young team is developing nicely. More importantly, Im playing AGAINST the Kings and the small spread. This Kings team is garbage, and belongs in the dumps with the Nets and T'wolves. Any time i see a small spread against a halfway decent team, Im fading the Kings/Nets/Wolves.

friiiiiiday

still sour about the Suns ruining my night. cant believe the night they decide to play ball in the fourth quarter i was against them. oh well thats how this game goes. at least the raptors covered so it was a split last night. to make things worse, i spilled a beer on my macbook, and its toast. hopefully i can go on a streak and make up some of the money im gonna have to dish out for a new laptop.

some interesting games tonight, and as usual i will only pick one. the lucky winner is...

Lakeshow -6.5

Analysis:
Not much analysis honestly. The Pacers just went into Philly and won outright a few nights ago, plus I am impressed with Kobes last couple games. When he is a TEAM PLAYER, and only shooting the ball between 15-25 times, the Lakers usually roll. Since his horrible game against Cleveland, he has limited his shots somewhat and is letting his supporting cast do more. Thats the key for LA, and I hope thats what we see from KB tonight.

THIRSTY THURSDAY

got rid of my goose-egg last night thanks to a solid play on the Jazz. usually i only have one play a night, but since its TNT Thursday and i like 2 games, that's what i'm going with. my two plays:

Raptors +3.5

Analysis:
Raptors last two wins: Lakers and Heat. Not bad teams right? I know people are scared because of the b2b, but I really dont care. I'll take this team getting points against the knickerbockers any day.

Mavericks +2

Analysis:
Jason Kidd is rested and will be playing. The Suns continue to look worse every night. I underestimated how much the absence of Barbosa would hurt the Suns. Not to mention their horrible record on TNT Thursday, something like 0-17 i believe? If the Suns couldnt cover at home against the Bobcats the other night, I cant take them here.

0-2 on the year. Some good games tonight, but one game stands out to me as the best bet 'fo sho' If I dont win tonight, at least you guys can think about fading me haha.

Jazz -2.5

Analysis:
Portland is banged up, still without their star player Brandon Roy. Meanwhile, Utah is playing some seriously good basketball right now, and are healthy. Webster and Aldridge have been keeping Portland in games, but Utah is too well rounded and solid. Lets go Jazz.

Analysis:

my nba season begins!

Laid low for a while to scope out the teams this year since last year I got burned in the beginning.

With NFL just about over, its time for the transition.

One game jumps out to me tonight:
ORLANDO over Memphis

People have been drooling over the Grizz on here, but I'm not buying it. Memphis is becoming a better team, yes, but I'm not ready to believe they can take out the Magic.
Orlando has some serious star power, but the Grizzlies have some great players on the rise (Rudy Gay, OJ Mayo)
However, Zack Randolph and Marc Gasol are no match for big Dwight.

ORL -1.5

if you are betting on the SD/DAL game...

dont forget how terrible the San Diego run defense looked the first half of the season.

and how good the Dallas rush offense is, excluding last week.

Im a Cowboys fan, and im not sure if i'll have any action on the game. but it seems people are putting a lot of faith in this charger team.

As for the chargers win streak... 2 game against the chiefs, 1 against cleveland, 1 against Oakland...the only legit teams were the eagles and giants.

also, dallas in December...ehhh . this game looks like one that is more fun to watch than wager on .

every week i play a 3 team 10 point teaser, and it seems almost every week i win :)

so far i have only lost 3 this year.

as for this week i will take...

DALLAS +8.5
NAWLINS +0.5
CHARGERS -3.5

Goodluck to all, opinions are welcome and appreciated.

2 big plays on Sunday

first, Dallas -3.

Dallas is rollin right now, playing a Green Bay team with alot of issues. Giving up 38 points to TB? Jesus. Not to mention their offensive line is embarrassing. expect Jay Ratliff and Demarcus Ware get into the backfield quite a few times.

second, Denver -3.

Obviously, fading the Skins is always a great idea, but i just heard on ESPN that Clinton Portis is doubtful. Plus, you tack on the 2 disheartening losses DEN just had, and they've got to be reeling for a win. This is a good spot for the Broncos to regain their confidence with a blowout win.

Goodluck everyone, comments and thoughts are appreciated.

wed nes day !!

ok so 1-2 last night because the suns didnt show up till 7:00 left in the fourth   heres tonights 3 plays

1: nets +3 at kings. expect the nets to bounce back from that awful fourth quarter in LA last night. kings are a decent team at home, but i think the nets will play hard tonight

2: suns -4 at timberwolves. suns certainly didnt impress me, but -4 is a very easy spread to cover. hopefully they learned their lesson last night and will show up for the whole game tonight.

3: nuggets -4 at clippers. denver has been playing some great basketball with chauncy billups. it will continue tonight, against a clippers team with no chemistry (addition of zach randolph, subtraction of tim thomas and cuttino mobley). marcus camby will be squaring off against his former team for the first time also. i just dont think the clipps will be able to muster up enough to beat the nuggets, or cover.

ytd: 36-23
