Whitehout's Fri G.O.D.

My record posting year to date is 11 wins and 15 losses. Looking to start a little run heading into this weekend.  Lets get started with todays game.

CHC @ FLA (Harden vs Volstad)
The Pick: CUBS

Who else than Rich Harden has pitched better after the All Star Break?  The answer to that question is not too many guys.  Harden his last 3 games since the break has given up only 2 runs.  He has also walked only 2 people and struck out 21 in those 3 games.  Two of those games on the road.  I look for Harden to continue his road success and send at least 5 batters home with at least 1 strikeout under their belt.  FLA in their last 10 games has scored 41 runs to bring their avg scored last 10 to 4.1 runs.  Thats not bad except to the Cubs comparison of scoring 65 runs in 10 games for an average of 6.5 runs scored per game. Expecting roughly a score of CHC 8 and FLA 3.  Go Cubs!

Whitehout's Super Tuesday pick 7/28

Record YTD 11 wins and 14 losses.  Strong play today with the Yankees. Somebody blow on the Yankees because they are on fire right now.  ANd I don't see that fire going out today vs struggling Kazmir.

Game #1: NYY @ TAM  (NYY P.O.D.)
C.C. has a better road era than he does at home and Kazmir has definately stuggled at home this year with an outrageous era.  Just a reminder that Kazmir has not won a game since May 9th when his team gave him 8 runs of support early in the game.  Without that support Kazmir is not the same pitcher we've seen the past few years.  Yanks are 21-11 vs Lefty.  NYY are 8-3 last 11 road games.  Yanks hit .303 vs lefty on the road while the Rays are hitting a poor .185 last 10 games vs lefty. C.C. given up 3 runs in 14 innings since the All -Star break.  Kazmir's career record vs the Yanks is recidulous with a 1.49 era and 4-1 record.  and he is also 4-2 with a 1.45 era in 8 home games vs NYY.  I'm looking for C.C. to pitch well enough that they can get to the unhealthy Kazmir.  In my opinion he is like 85% right now and look for the Yanks to roll 7-3 or so.

Bonus Play:  No write up but I am leaning towards the over 7.5 in the LAD @ STL game. I have not played an over all  year with STL being the home team.  But with Mark Derosa and Holliday now there against a somewhat stuggling Billingsley I look for this to be a 9 run game.  Best of luck to... Whitehout's Friday Picks

There are quite a few plays I see on todays card but I try to play quantity with quality. Record YTD since posting: 10 wins and 13 losses.  Let's get into todays baseball card.

Game #1:  STL @ PHI: PHI ML  The trendy pick is probably Saint Louis but I'm not going in that direction.  I'm looking for J.A. Happ to pitch another solid game.  This Lefty has some great stuff kind of like Moyer 10x.  He keeps the hitters guessing and thats a great thing since STL gives Joel a weak 3.9 runs per game.  Look for STL to be tired besides Pujols who was rested yesterday.  PHI is 32-28 vs Righty and PHI has finally started to figure out how to win at home. Something they could not get done in the beginning of the season.  STL hit leftys poorly sporting a 14-15 record vs southpaws.  Final stat for this game is PHI with a 13-5 record vs the NL Central.

Game #2:  ATL @ MIL  ATL ML I've been a fan of Vasquez for quite some time. Even in his early years with the dreaded Montreal Expos.  Anyways he is back and better than ever.  He has finally put his skill, knowledge and experience together.  13 of Vasquez' 19 starts were Quality starts.  141 strikeouts to 24 walks is an absolutely rediculous ratio.  Look for Parra of MIL to have an average outing but I feel if the Braves can score 4 runs in MIL than it should be a lock.

Whitehout Daily Tues Plays

Been a rough stretch past 2 weeks catching unlucky bounce but thats the way it goes sometimes.  Record YTD: 9 wins and 12 losses.

Game #1:  BOS RED SOX ML:  You have to believe the Sox are too good to lose 4 in a row. The DOdgers for instance rallied the other day to assure themselves they would keep that 3 game losing streak away.  Beckett is too good to lose tonight with the pressure on.  Don't get greedy on the runline though since the payout is not that enticing.

Game #2:  HOU ML:  Wandy Rodriguez has been hot of late. Especially beating LA last week on the road.  Pujols is 3 for 20 against Wandy and I look for this slump to continue for Pujols.

Whitehout's Monday starting breakout week!

Okay today is the day we start off Monday with a strong start.  My record YTD: 9 wins and 10 losses. Lets get right into Monday's plays,

Game#1:  CHC @ PHI Under 9.5
It's no secret to the public that the Cubs have been struggling to score runs.  The Phillies are red hot and finally have started to straighten out that lazy bullpen of theirs.  Lopez pitched well thus far in the big leagues this year trying to secure a number 5 spot in the roation.  LIlly has been pitching rather well this year as he was the only Cub selected to this years NL All-Star team.  Couple of quick trends for you guys: Under is 49-38 for CUbs this yr and 25-17 on the road for them as well.  The Under for PHI is 44-40 overall and 26-17 at home.  Under also on a 10-4 run their last 14 games.  Expect to see a low scoring affair!

Game #2:  BAL @ NYY:  NYY RL
I have to play the numbers in this game.  Andy's career numbers vs the Orioles is recidulous with a 24-6 record and 3.8 ERA in 35 games.  Yanks have owned BAL all year and that trend continues today.  Especially with BOS losing yesterday the Yanks want to gain games when they can.  Look for A-ROD and Big TEX to have big games today vs the Orioles 24 yr old rookie hurler.  Pettitte 3-0 w a 1.8 ERA vs BAL last season

Whitehout's Saturday Slate

Ok now that we finally have a full card of enticing games I am ready to release a multiple play slate for today.  Record YTD: 8 wins and 9 losses.  A couple rough losses after bullpens imploded but thats the name of the game.  So lets jump into todays games and move forward with a winning day.

Game #1:  RED SOX RL  It appears as if late money is going in on TOR but that doesn't scare me.  I'm still going to take BOS against a stuggling TOR who is sliding out of playoff contention all together.  Penny has allowed six straight games with 3 or fewer runs given up.  ALso he is 3-0 w a 3.19 ERA in six starts vs TOR.  BOS is a whopping 21-11 vs leftys and I look for them to win by 3+ runs against this rookie from Southern California.  GO RED SOX

Game #2:  LAA ML  Younger brother Weaver is coming off back to back games with 9 strikeouts under his belt.  Angels are hot as hell right now, sorry no pun intended.  I see this game the same as the BOS game as in they are both teams pushing for the playoffs while their home opponent is sliding in the opposite direction.  Although Jersey's own Vin Mazzarro is a stud, he doesn't get the run support he needs for the A's to have a good chance to win.  Also the A's are horrible following a win by going 3-9 in those games.  Mazzarro started the season 2-0 but has since gone 0-5 w a 5 ERA to boot.  Let's ride the hot hand of Weaver and the bat ... Whitehout's 2nd half rally

My record so far on Covers.com is a dismal 7 wins and 9 losses but that is all about to change after this week.  Lets take a step in the right direction toward the bank and find some winners. With that said let's hop into Thursday's games.

Game #1:  PHI @ FLA Under 10  Wiley veteran Jamie Moyer boasts a tremendous 12-2 career record against the Marlins.  I think his numbers have held true over the years because everybody knows when your'e in a young system you want to make a name and hit the cover off that ball.  But that's easier said than done with Moyer on the mound.  FLA can't afford to lose these divisional games if they want to be an NL-East contender.  Volstad's pitched rather well this year vs Philly with two Quality starts under his belt.  I anticipate this game going Under the posted total.  Most books have 9 or 9.5 now but I'm lucky and have 10 so I must jump on this under.  Good luck all and please add your input.

Whitehout's Friday Picks

Was hot there for quite awhile but came back to earth over the last week.  Lets get those winners before the All-Star break throws a monkey wrench in our daily plans..haha
Record YTD: 6 wins & 8 losses

Game #1:  RED SOX RL  I have to take the Red Sox tonight after last nights horrid effort.  The Sox play great at home and even better following a loss with a win percentage around 64.  The Royals don't have what it takes to win two in a row in Fenway.  Lester has been steong of late and he absolutely loves to pitch in Fenway.  Sox sport a 21-5 home record for Lester which is mighty impressive and to further my arguement the Sox are 9-2 their last 11 in game 2 of a series. Little tid-bit is that Boston is tied with the Yankees and know they need to win tonight to have a good chance of keeping atop the AL- East before the break while the Yanks try and keep their impressive road winning streak alive.

Game #2: LAD ML  If your'e not a believer yet than I'm not sure what will convince you that the the Dodgers are for real.  Now with Manny back in the lineup, the players that carried the team for months has the addition of the best veteran bat in the game.  Everyone knows their role and typical Joe Torre getting the most out of all of his players.  Billingsley might be one of the best young gun-slingers in the game.  Tonight Billingsley will get his 10th win of the season and the Dodgers will continue th... Whitehout's Tues Games

To all my readers I'm sorry for taking a week off my blog but I was extremely busy.  But don't think I took a day off of sports. That's impossible!  Well my record sits just below .500 with 6 Wins and 7 Losses so lets change that with todays winners.

Game 1:  KC @ DET Under 8.5
I believe these might be two of the most struggling offenses in all of baseball right now.  Under is 11-1-2 in KC's last 14 overall.  KC has gone Under 6 out of their last 8 games in Det.  SP Bruce Chen pitched quite well last game even though he did receive the loss. Hopefully he can follow up with another quality start. Also under is 13-5 last 18 vs each other.  Verlander is damn near lights out at Comerica where he boasts a 4-0 record with a 1.11 ERA in six home starts this season.  The intangible for this game to cash a ticket has to be Head Ump Culbreth.  He has gone Under the posted total 11 times already this year opposed to only 4 games Over.

Whitehout's Daily Pick for Tues 6/30

Got back on track yesterday with my FLA runline.  A bit lucky but we"d all take that win.  Current record YTD is 6W-6L.  Lets get to today's pick

Game #1:  Eventhough I think the Cubs are the most overrated team around I do believe today is a good spot for them.  Lilly gave up 5 runs last game and last time he follwed a bad start with a quality start.  I just hope the Cubs can put 5 runs on the board.  PIT is horrible against lefty's and they seem to be intimidated a bit by the Cubs.  So lets all hop on this good value of Ted Lilly at -127.  I like this game for a decent play.

Bonus Game:  Underdog of the day has to be TOR with Scott Richmond on the mound.  Only +111 with Garza as the opposition says a lot from the oddsmakers.  They believe TOR has a good shot at winning especially since Garza is a different man on the road.

Whitehout's Week 2 Redemption

Had a so so debut week going 5 wins and 6 losses.  Look to jump back on the horse today and pick another winner:

Game #1:  Nolasco of the Marlins has been pitching well of late.  Since he was called back up to the majors after a short stint his pitching has been lights out,  And I have to assume the Nationals are not going to be able hit the ball off this young right hander from southern Califronia.  With that said lets take the FLA runline at +105.

Whitehout's Sunday Picks 6/28

Had a good day going 2-0 in the early part of the day with Philly and LAA and than failed to produce a winner in the TEX game.  Leaving my record at 4 Wins and 5 Losses.  Time to turn this thing around and having a winning debut week.  Today's picks are here as follows:

Game #1:  I am favoring the BOS @ ATL game. Penny has been strong of late with his three previous outings allowing a combined 15 hits.  Not too bad for someone who many thought could be over the hill.  The BOS bats should bounce back after being shut down by veteran Javier Vasquez.  Reports show that ATL Tommy Hanson has had the flu for the past few days and looks to still start.  If it's really the flu than Ilook for him to not be himself in this muggy 100 southern heat.  BOS is 10-2 in their last 12 road games.  Good value for Penny and the Sox at (-110) Take BOS all the way!

Game #2:  The Rockies are just as hot right now as they were last fall.  I look for this streak to continue today vs the struggling A's.  Though the Jersey boy Vin Mazzaro is a solid young pitcher, the fact of the matter is he gets little if any run support.  That's not going to cut it if you want to win close home games.  Great value today for COL and Aaron Cook.  He has pitched very well his last 4 games going undefeated and putting up a less than 2 era.  Lets ride COL's streak all the way to the bank.  Take COL at (-103)

Whitehout's late Saturday plays

Not a bad day yesterday as I hit my Game of the Day.  Did get robbed though when the Detroit bullpen decided to hand the game over to the struggling Astros.  FLA also lost which was my bosus play if you were feeling lucky.  So my record to date is 4 wins and 4 losses.  So lets get into Saturday's late picks.

Game #1:  I really like this SD @ TEX game.  Though both starting pitchers are well below mediocre I really like this kid Holland for TEX.  His numbers aren't great but he's been getting mentored by none other than Nolan Ryan.  He's definately learning the game like most young pitchers do.  So I believe TEX might give up 4 or 5 runs tonite but don't shy away yet.  SD has a dismal offense and TEX has scored 21 runs in their last 3 games.  SD 1-4 Correias last 5 road starts.  Also Correia has been pounding the strike zone lately his manager noted. That could be something he might not want to do with this sleepy giant awakening from it's offensive slump.  SD lost 18 of last 21 interleague games & lost 13 of last 15 vs AL on the road.   The play today is TEX!

Whitehout's Friday Games

I apologize to all who were on the BOS game as well yesterday.  But you weren't alone on that game as many others lost on Smoltz rough debut.  I should of stopped when I mentioned I normally don't pick a team when they are going for a sweep.  But enough excuses and lets get my .500 record of 3 wins and 3 losses to a positive note.  Lets get into Friday June 26th, 2009 picks and anlaysis:

Game #1:  I'm going to take the NYY @NYM Over 8.5 and here's why, The Yankees dismal offense finally woke up from it's hibernation with it's outbursts of 19 runs and 26 hits in it's last 2 games.  Also note runs normally aren't scored in that fashion in Atlanta's ballpark.  Lets not forget the embarassing loss the Yanks handed the Mets not too long ago by scoring 15 runs on Johan's Sunday start.  The Mets are playing well and their offense finally seems to be getting going a bit.  Pelfrey though has been pitvhing better of late still managed to give up 4 runs in 5 innings last outing.  Pelfrey's Over has cashed in 9-4-1 his last 14 starts and the Mets Over has cashed 11-5-1 it's last 17 games when the total is posted between 7 and 8.5.  My final note for this game has to be that C.C. was pulled last outing after feeling tightness in his arm.  NYY took precaution but I feel between his arm and nerves he might be far from perfect.

Game #2:  DET @ HOU (-118)  As much as I want to stay away from Verlander o... [More]

Whitehout's Thursday picks & Analysis

Well it looks as if I've caught two bad beats the past 2 days.  First with the pinch hit home run from DET to ruin my Over by a half and than last nights Minnesota self implosion by the manager Ron Gardenhire for not pulling Blackburn after he had pitched a solid 7 innings.  Sometimes you have to trust your bullpen no matter how bad it is.  With that said my record holds at .600 with 3 wins and 2 losses.  Lets get into todays picks.

Game #1: I normally can't favor a game when a team is going for the sweep, but lets be honest with ourselves and go with the numbers.  The Boston Red Sox are one of the hottest teams right now and they are playing the atrocious Nationals.  Though the game is played in D.C. there will be more Red Sox Nation fans than Nats fans attending.  That puts pressure on the Nationals SP Zimmerman who must try to beat Smoltz who has played 454 more games than him.  Daunting task for any young kid but also he must try to contain the Sox batters who are going to be amped up for veteran SP Smoltz debut.   The Sox are 15-5 in the month of June.  In Smoltz short career vs the young Nationals he is 4-3 with a 1.77 ERA in 7 starts.  Smoltz also carried a 2.63 ERA in 6 rehab starts this year. Lay the cheap price on Boston and the (-123) money line. (Game of the Day)

Whitehout's Wednesday Picks & Analysis

Had another pretty good day yesterday even though the Cubs decided to pull Marmol and give up a pinch-hit 2 run HR which screwed my Over 8.5 by a half a run.  But thats the way it goes sometimes.  Anyways the Lincecum came though for me last night as predicted which leaves me with a (2W-1L) record.  Should be 3-0 if it wasn't for those damn Cubs.  haha  Well lets get into Wednesday's picks:

Game #1:  This number on Blackburn is too good to be true.  The Twins are hitting the cover off the ball vs Looper this year and the Brew Crew's pitcher has almost an 8 ERA in Interleague.  I believe the public is taking the Brewers because most cappers here believe a pitcher is due for a bad outing after posting a CG like Blackburn did last game.  I am a non-believer in this trend and have to back the better team right now which is the Twinkies.  Blackburn is 4-0 with a 1.8 ERA his last eight starts.  Also Blackburn is 3-0 with a 3.25 ERA in four Interleague starts.  He was shelled by the Brewers last year for his worst outing of the season but Blackburn is back and not the same man of the past.  Look for him to rebound tonite and continue this skid for Milwaukee.  Also Looper his last 4 outings has an ERA at almost 8.  I have to back his and the (-117) number on the road.   (Game of the Day)

Game #2:  The New York Yankees are struggling right now and so are the bats of their stars.  I'... [More]

Whitehout's Tuesday Picks

Started off my debut on Monday 1-0.  I posted my pick yesterday of the Over 9 in the Col/LAA game.  That was pretty easy with the Rockies swinging the bats the way they are.  Anyways lets get right into Tuesday's picks.  (Brad's Record is 1-0.)

Game#1:  I'm gonna have to roll with the Under 8.5 in the CHC@DET game.  If Zambrano shows up to play than you know he's good to give up a maximum of 3 runs.  Not to mention the lights out performances that have been turned in lately from DET hurler Edwin Jackson.  Bot offenses seem to be in a bit of a slump and I'm willing to say Under 8.5 is the play of the day.  Sorry for the lack of stats today but I'm at work already for the day.

Game #2:  How can you not back up Lincecum and his repatoire of pitches? He is the epitomy of a young pitcher who is capable of shutting out any team in the league on any given day.  His career numbers show that he should have no problem disposing of his cross-town counterparts.  Though Interleague does not bring out the best in Lincecum, he does have great numbers in 3 career games with a ERA of less than 2.  Going out on a bit of a limb to say that the young jersey kid Vin Mazzaro who has been pitching well all season is going to get rocked tonite.

Good luck all. By the way I like both games equally as much so feel free to pick your'e poison.

Monday pick for Team Whitehout's Debut

Well how do I start this blog number 1? I presume I should inform you that we TEAM WHITEHOUT are highly dedicated to finding daily winners no matter what the competition may be.  At this current moment all wer'e working with is MLB baseball, however baseball may be the most lucrative professional sport when it comes to gambling.  Many handicappers like football and basketball because of these fast paced games but the good cappers know baseball is controlled mostly by the starting pitchers.  With that said it's time for us cappers to come together and make some great financial oppurtunities here this baseball season.  Today's picks are here as follows for June 22nd, 2009:

Game #1:    I'm gonna have to roll with the Over on the Col/LAA game.  The play is Over 9 (-120) right now.  The last 10 games these teams have played each other only 2 of them went under 9.  The Rockies are hot right now and the Angels are too good of a team to lose 3 games in a row.  Angels are pumped to get their bats going again today after leaving the bats at home their last 2 games vs cross-town rival Dodgers.  Even as of the past weekend the Rockies pitching staff has not been stellar but good enough to pull out some wins over the Pirates.  Need I mention the hot streak the Rockies are on? Palmer the Angels first year starter tends to get above average run support. Also the Angels bullpen has not been great this ... [More]
