With
no time to rest after last weekend’s controversial Ferrari 1-2 victory
in Germany, Formula One moves onto Hungary. Who will take the chequered
flag this weekend? BetRepublic.com previews the outright markets here.
Top Outright Race Winner Odds at
Motor Sports Bet
Fernando Alonso – 15/8
Sebastian Vettel – 2/1
Mark Webber – 9/2
Lewis Hamilton - 6/1
Felipe Massa – 8/1
This weekend’s race at the
Hungaroring, near Budapest, is the twelfth race of the 2010 Formula One
season and after the events at Hockenheim last weekend Formula One will
be looking for a clean and exciting race. However, the Hungaroring
closely resembles the track at Monaco with its short straights, lots of
turns and usually a massive lack of overtaking action. Will things be
different this year?
As always, first up for the
race weekend comes qualifying. Of the eleven races so far this season a
Red Bull has started on pole position on ten occasions, with Sebastian
Vettel claiming six poles, including the last three straight top grid
slots, and Mark Webber claiming the other four. Lewis Hamilton claimed
pole position at the Canadian Grand Prix, which he went on to win, to
prevent Red Bull having 100% domination. Will we see an eleventh Red
Bull pole position this season this weekend?
I feel that we will, as the Red
Bull car is still the fastest car over one lap. Alt...

This
Thursday sees the introduction of some giants of the European game into
the qualifying stages of the Europa League. Will they cruise through or
will we see some major upsets?
BetRepublic.com previews three games featuring the big sides here.
Rabotnicki vs Liverpool
Soccer Betting Tips :
A new chapter in the life of Liverpool football club
gets underway this Thursday evening in Skopje, Macedonia as new manager
Roy Hodgson and his men look to defeat the side that finished 2nd in
the Macedonian league last season.BetRepublic.com make Liverpool the
1/5 favourites to claim victory in this first leg tie with Rabotni and
#269;ki are available at 8/1 and the draw can be backed at 9/2.
Since replacing Rafael Benitez as
manager of Liverpool on July 1st Hodgson has signalled his intent to
make the fans forget last season’s poor campaign that saw the 2005 Champions League winners finish in seventh place in the Premier League.
Hodgson has brought in quality and
potential so far with Joe Cole from Chelsea and Serbian striker Milan
Jovanovi and #263; signing on as well as 19 year old Danny Wilson from
Rangers. However, this goo...

Wednesday’s Champions League Betting : Sporting Braga vs Celtic
There are some big name sides
in action this Wednesday evening in the third qualifying round of the
Champions League. Who will take an advantage into the second leg?Online
handicapping portal BetRepublic.com previews the three biggest games
here.
Debreceni VSC v FC Basel @
Soccer Betting Tips :
This match sees the Hungarian
champions take on the Swiss champions for a place in the playoff stage
of the qualification section of the Champions League. Online sports
BetRepublic.com make Basel the favourites to win this first leg tie at
evens ahead of Debrecen and the draw at odds of 11/5. Will the Swiss
champions live up to their pre-match billing as favourites?
Basel had a reasonable season in Europe last season. They finished
third in the same Europa League group as Roma and Fulham, only failing
to progress on the final matchday as they lost 3-2 to eventual
finalists Fulham.
However, they did secure an
impressive 2-0 win over Roma before losing out to the more illustrious
sides from Italy and England. They did secure the domestic double of
league and cup in the 09/10 season in Switzerland as well and will be a
major threat for Debrecen.
Last season Debrecen got a
tough Champions League ...

Tuesday’s Champions League Betting : The New Saints vs Anderlecht
We’ve reached the final
qualifying round of the Champions League and some big names enter the
fray this week. Will we see some of Europe’s smaller clubs cause some
upsets? BetRepublic.com previews a selection of games here.
The New Saints vs Anderlecht
Soccer Betting Tips :
This match sees the Welsh
champions face the Belgian champions for a place in the Champions League
Playoff for a place in the group stages of the competition. Books make
Anderlecht the 1/4 favourites to win this first leg tie, with TNS
available at 15/2 and the draw can be backed at 19/5.Will this match go
according to the odds?
TNS booked their place in this
match by beating Bohemians from the Republic of Ireland 4-1 on aggregate
in the second qualifying round last week. There defeat of the Irish
champions was the first ever occasion that they had won a Champions
League qualifying tie, and they did so in impressive style by beating
Bohemians 4-0 at home in the second leg after losing the first leg 1-0
in Dublin. Can TNS cause a bigger shock by beating the Belgian
champions?
Although The New Saints will be
in a highly confident mood after beating Bohemians, Anderlecht will be
equally confident after kicking off their season last weekend with a 1-0
win in the Belgian Super Cup. They...

This
evening sees the second leg ties of the Second Qualifying Round for the
2010/2011 Europa League tournament. Who will progress to the third, and
final, qualifying round?
Soccer Betting Tip searches for some value bets here.
Breidablik v Motherwell:
At the halfway stage of the tie
Motherwell hold the advantage after winning 1-0 last week in Scotland.
Can they hold that advantage and progress as they travel to Iceland
this Thursday evening? The 23/20 favourites to win the match in normal
time, with Breidablik available at odds of 17/10 and the draw can be
backed at 12/5.
The first game at Fir Park saw
a competitive game with plenty of chances for both sides, however it
was the more clinical professional side from the SPL that took the win
through a 63rd minute goal. However, the Icelandic side had their share
of chances and on another night they could come away with an away goal
or two. Can they overturn the deficit and progress to their final
qualifying round to face Aalesunds FK of Norway in their first
appearance in European football?
I see this as another exciting game
and I feel that Motherwell will take the win and progress to the next
round. However Breidablik will not make it easy and I see both sides
scoring in this game. Back Motherwell to win @ 23/20.

Wednesday´s Champions League Betting
This evening sees the final
eleven games from the second qualifying round of the Champions League.
Who will progress to the final qualifying round? BetRepublic previews a
selection of games here.
Rosenborg v Linfield
Soccer Betting Tip :
After claiming a shock 0-0 draw last week, the Northern Irish champions are still in this tie and they travel to Norway
with a chance of eliminating their more illustrious opponents. Can they
do so though? Books don’t think so, making Rosenborg 1/12 favourites to
win this match in normal time, with Linfield available at 16/1 and the
draw at 13/2.
With odds that short the bookmakers clearly believe that this game is going to be a walk in the park for the 2009 Norwegian
league champions. However, Rosenborg had won eight straight matches
prior to the draw with Linfield last week and ended up drawing their
second game in a row following last week’s fixture in Belfast.
At home
Rosenborg are a tough proposition having won eight and drawn three of
their last eleven games in a run that stretches back to April. They
have also kept seven clean sheets in their last nine home matches, and
with Linfield likely to play 4-5-1 again I feel that Rosenborg will win
this game to nil as well, but they will have to work hard for it.
My money is on the game to be
level at half time with R...

Germany vs Uruguay 2010 World Cup Live
Soccer Betting Tips :
This Saturday sees the penultimate match at the 2010 World Cup
as Uruguay and Germany battle it out in the third and fourth place
playoff after losing their Semi Final games. Who will finish third?
BetRepublic.com previews the action here.
Uruguay v Germany:
This is the game that no side
wants to ever play in as they’ve lost their Semi Final and missed the
chance to play in a World Cup final. Germany played in the 2006 3rd/4th
place playoff, while Uruguay last reached the last four stage in 1970 –
where they were beaten by West Germany 1-0 to finish fourth
Who will claim third place?
Online sportsbooks make Germany the 4/5 favourites to win the match
within ninety minutes, with Uruguay available at 7/2 and the draw can
be backed at 5/2. Will the game go according to the odds though?
Both sides will be completely
demoralised after losing their Semi Final matches, with Uruguay falling
3-2 to the Netherlands and Germany losing 1-0 to Spain. Both matches
were gripping and ‘edge of your seat’ viewing with neither match
settled until the full time whistle had blown. Uruguay put in a great
performance against the Netherlands, but in the end it was th...

WORLD CUP BETTING – Uruguay vs Netherlands
It’s make or break time this
Tuesday evening as Uruguay take on the Netherlands for a place in the
World Cup final. Who will be the first finalists? Betrepubluc previews
the match here.
Uruguay v Netherlands
Soccer Betting Tip :
What a matchup we have for the
first Semi Final at the 2010 World Cup. Available at odds of 80/1 and
14/1 respectively both of these sides, Uruguay especially, have
performed better than most people could have predicted.
Who will reach the final though? The
silky smooth Dutch? Or the tenacious Uruguayans with their
never-say-die attitude?Netherlands the favourites to progress to the
final within ninety minutes at odds of 4/6, with Uruguay available at
5/1 and the draw can be backed at 5/2. However, I feel that this game
will be a lot tighter than the odds suggest.

Suarez saved his country from elimination by punching the ball off the
line as Ghana were about to score the winner in injury time at the end

World Cup Betting: Germany vs. Spain
The second World Cup Semi Final
sees the dark horses of the tournament take on the pre-tournament
favourites for the second spot in Sunday’s final. Who will progress?
Germany or Spain? BetRepublic previews the game here.
Germany v Spain
Soccer Betting Tip :
Spain came into the tournament
as the favourites, but the 2008 European Champions haven’t really lived
up to that billing, while no-one was expecting much from Germany in
South Africa but they have breezed past England and Argentina in the
knockout stages scoring eight goals make Spain the 8/5 favourites to
win in normal time ahead of Germany at 9/5 and the draw at 11/5.The
odds are close, but who will progress?
Both sides have lost one game
in the 2010 finals, with Germany’s loss coming at the hands of Serbia
in their second group game. That loss came after join top scorer, with
four goals, Miroslav Klose was red carded in the first half and they
conceded a goal just seconds later. They should have got back into the
game but missed a succession of chances, including a penalty.
That goal was half of the goals
that Germany have conceded in the tournament, with the only other goal
coming in the game against England in the last sixteen sta...

Brazil are the most successful side to feature at the World Cup – they have lifted the trophy on five different occasions and are the only side to feature in all previous eighteen World Cup finals. They go into the nineteenth edition of the finals as second favourites at 5/1 behind Spain (4/1) to claim their sixth world crown. FIFA World Cup
Soccer Betting Tips & Teams:
Outside of the top two teams in the FIFA world rankings (Brazil and Spain) Holland are probably the best equipped side to win the World Cup in South Africa. They won all eight of their qualifying matches averaging over two goals a game as they found the net on seventeen occasions and conceded just twice. They have history on their side, as the last side to win all of their World Cup qualifying games was West Germany in 1982 and they reached the final before going down 3-1 to Italy. As well as this they have some outstanding talents in their squad, with an outstanding trio of midfield pl...

This Saturday sees the final day’s action for the ladies at Roland Garros as Francesca Schiavone takes on Samantha Stosur in a surprise final. Who will emerge with their first Grand Slam victory? BetRepublic.com previews the action here.
Francesca Schiavone v Samantha Stosur
Tennis Betting:
Both of these players have been the surprise packages of the tournament, with Schiavone becoming the first Italian to reach a Grand Slam semi final, and now final, in the Open era while Stosur has beaten four time winner Justine Henin and world number one Serena Williams on route to the final. PaddyPower.com have made Stosur a 2/9 favourite to claim the title ahead of 13/4 for Schiavone, mainly down to whom she has beaten and the fact that she is unbeaten against Schiavone since 2005. Will that run continue or will Schiavone become the first Italian to win a Grand Slam?
In her last three matches Stosur has had to overcome four time winner Justine Henin in round four, world number one Serena Williams in the Quarter Finals and the fourth seed, and my pre-tournament favourite for the title, Jelena Jankovic in the Semis. Stosur took three sets to get past both Henin and Serena, but she completely blew Jankovic away with a 6-1, 6-2 win to book her place in her first ever Grand Slam final. Can she continue in this form to claim the 2010 French Open title?

Day twelve at Roland Garros sees the Semi Final matches between the final four players left in the Women’s tournament. Who will be playing in Saturday’s final? BetRepublic.com previews both matches here:
Elena Dementieva v Francesca Schiavone
Tennis Betting:
The bookmakers are having a hard time determining who will be the player that progresses to the French Open final with both PaddyPower.com and William Hill having odds of 5/6 for both Dementieva and Schiavone to win the match. It looks like it’ll be a close match, but will it be the fifth or seventeenth seed that progresses to the final?
After a relatively easy route through the tournament, Dementieva came across Nadia Petrova in the Quarter Finals. Petrova had defeated Venus Williams in round four and started the Quarter Final match with great confidence and won the first set in an injury broken sixty-two minutes. From there, however, things went downhill for the nineteenth seed as Dementieva got into her stride and won the next two sets 6-2, 6-0 to book her Semi Final place. She will need to perform like she did in those final two sets to progress to the final, but will Dementieva be able to?
Schiavone is the first Grand Slam semi finalist from Italy since the Open era began and she has claimed this feat in style. She has beaten three seeded players on route to the final four, Na Li (11) in round three, Maria ...

This Wednesday sees the eleventh day’s action at Roland Garros and the second group of four Quarter Final matches will be played. Who will progress to the Semi Finals? BetRepublic.com previews all four games here.
Men’s Tournament
Tennis Betting:
Today’s action from the Men’s draw sees the second and third seeds, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, battle it out against two players that I did not expect to do so well at Roland Garros in Nicolas Almagro and Jurgen Melzer. Who will be playing the last four stage of the competition?
Rafael Nadal v Nicolas Almagro:
Unsurprisingly, William Hill have made Nadal, the world number two, a massive favourite, at odds of 1/25, to defeat his fellow countryman and world number twenty-one, who is available at 9/1. It is not surprising as Nadal has won all six previous meetings between the two players and is in stunning form on the clay courts in Paris. Will Nadal claim another win against Almagro and progress to the Semi Finals?
Nadal is at home on clay and he has looked it in this year’s competition so far and he has won all four matches without dropping a set. Gianni Mina fell in the first round 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 before Horacio Zeballos lost 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 in round two. Nadal then faced twenty-eighth seed Lleyton Hewitt 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 in round three before disposing of twenty-fourth seed Thomaz Bellucci 6-2, 7-5, 6...

Tuesday sees the tenth day’s action at Roland Garros and we’re down to the final eight in both the Men’s and Women’s draws. Who will make the Semi Finals? BetRepublic.com previews all of the day’s matches here.
Men’s Tournament:
The two Men’s Quarter Final matches being played today see top seed Roger Federer take on fifth seed Robin Soderling in the first match and fifteenth seed Tomas Berdych faces eleventh seed Mikhail Youzhny in match two. Who will progress to the final four?
Roger Federer v Robin Soderling
Tennis Betting:
This match will be the thirteenth meeting between these two players and Federer, the world number one, is currently undefeated in their previous twelve encounters. Of those twelve matches, three have been played on clay and Federer has won all three in straight sets, including last year’s French Open final. Can Soderling record his first win against the Swiss legend this time around?
Bookmakers PaddyPower.com have, unsurprisingly, made Federer a massive favourite to win the match at odds of 2/9 with Soderling available at 3/1. Federer has also won all four matches at Roland Garros this year in straight sets, with only Alejandra Falla of Columbia coming close to winning a set in Federer’s first three matches. Federer defeated twentieth seed Stanislas Wawrinka in round four and he pushed Federer to his second tie bre...

This Thursday sees the fifth day’s action at Roland Garros and BetRepublic.com is previewing some of the biggest second round matches being played. Who will progress to round three and where does the betting value lie? Read on to find out.
Men’s Tournament
Tennis Betting Tips:
I’ll be focusing on four men’s matches featuring four of the top ten seeds in Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Fernando Verdasco and David Ferrer. Can these top seeded players advance to the next stage of the tournament?
Nadal is a 1/200 favourite with William Hill to win the match against his Argentine opponent, Horacio Zeballos, who can be backed at 25/1 to defeat the second seed. Nadal is my pick to win the tournament outright and after disposing of Gianni Mina 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 in the first round I do not feel that he will have any problems against the world number forty-four in round two. It took Zeballos five sets to get past world 190 Martin Fischer, so I cannot see anything but a straight sets win for Nadal. Back this at odds of 1/8 with PaddyPower.com.
The second player we are looking at is Serbian Novak Djokovic. The number three seed took four sets to get past world number seventy-three Evgeny Korolev in the first round and now faces world number 246 Kei Nishikori for a place in round three. The Serbian is a 1/20 favourite to progress with William Hill, while his Japanese opponent can be backed at 8/1 after beat...

This Tuesday evening sees the second leg of the League One Semi Final between Millwall and Huddersfield Town. Who will progress to Wembley to play in the Playoff Final for a place in the Championship? BetRepublic.com previews the action here.
Millwall v Huddersfield Town
Soccer Betting Tips (0-0):
The first leg of this tie took place last Saturday at the Galpharm Stadium with the game ending 0-0. Millwall will be happier of the two sides after coming away from the away leg of the tie without being behind the side that finished five points behind them in the regular season. Can they make their home advantage in the second leg work for them and get them to Wembley?
Bookmaker William Hill believe that Millwall will be able to defeat Huddersfield as they have the home side as favourites to win the match within ninety minutes at 5/6. Huddersfield can be backed at 10/3 and the draw is available at 5/2.
Millwall are the odds on favourites as they won seventeen and drew five of their twenty-three home league matches in the regular season. Their only loss came against Wycombe Wanderers in December and that was fourteen home games ago. Of those fourteen games, twelve were won by Millwall and they kept clean sheets in seven matches. Overall Millwall kept eleven clean sheets and conceded just fifteen goals in front of their own fans this season. Should they keep up their excellent home form...

The 2009/2010 Premier League season concludes this weekend with Chelsea leading Manchester United by one point. Will Chelsea cross the line and become the champions for the first time since 2006? Or will they fail to win at the weekend and give Man Utd the chance to claim their fourth straight title? BetRepublic.com previews both matches involving these two teams this weekend here.
Chelsea v Wigan Athletic
Soccer Betting Tip:
Chelsea go into the match with a one point, and +9 goal difference, advantage over Manchester United. As a result of this, and the fact that they face a Wigan side that has lost thirteen of its eighteen away league matches this season, they are the favourites to claim the Premier League crown at odds of 1/12 with PaddyPower.com. Despite their poor away form this season, Wigan caused one of the shocks of the season by beating Chelsea 3-1 at the DW stadium last time they met. Will they cause another shock and cost Chelsea the title?
Chelsea have won sixteen of their eighteen home league matches this season, losing just once (2-4 to Man City) and drawing just once (3-3 v Everton) also. They have scored a massive sixty goals in front of their own fans at Stamford Bridge this season and they conceded just fourteen goals (with half of them coming against Everton and Man City in the two matches they did not win), keeping ten clean sheet...

There are several tennis tournaments taking place around Europe this week and for today’s article we’re focusing on one match from the WTA Rome Masters tournament and one game from the ATP Estoril Open. The women’s fixture sees two of the biggest names in women’s tennis face off as Venus Williams takes on Jelena Jankovic, while the men’s fixture sees the biggest draw in tennis in action as Roger Federer meets Arnaud Clement. Will the favourites win these matches? BetRepublic.com previews all the action here.
Venus Williams v Jelena Jankovic
Tennis Betting Tips:
This Quarter Final match sees one of the closest rivalries in women’s tennis go another round. These two players have met on ten previous occasions, with the score tied at five wins apiece. This match promises to be a classic match and bookmaker William Hill believe it is going to be so close that they cannot separate either player and both are available at odds of 5/6.
Both players have played two matches each in the tournament, with Williams having dispensed with her opponents in a typically efficient fashion. After skipping the first round with a bye she thumped Patti Schnyder 6-2, 6-2 in the second round before getting past Shahar Peer 6-3, 6-4 to book her final eight place. Jankovic had a tough time in the second round against Bethanie Mattek-Sands but progressed 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 before breezing past Y...

This Wednesday evening sees four teams play their games in hand before we reach the weekend and the final games of the 2009/2010 Premier League season. Fulham take on Stoke City in a mid-table battle while the big game of the night sees Manchester City host Tottenham Hotspur in a match that could decide who of the two will be playing in the Champions League next season. BetRepublic.com previews both matches and offers some great value bets here.
Fulham v Stoke City
Soccer Betting Tip:
The first match between these two sides this season was an epic match, with Stoke leading 3-0 at half time before almost throwing the game away in the second half and just about taking the points with a 3-2 victory. However, this match is to be played at Craven Cottage rather than the Britannia Stadium and Fulham are a much better side there than on the road.
