Today’s major sporting events come from the world of English football
and we’ll be previewing the biggest three matches from this evening’s
fixtures. Read on as we look at the FA Cup Quarter Final Replay between
Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham as well as two of the night’s four Premier
League matches.
Tottenham Hotspur v Fulham:
When these two sides last met they played out a 0-0 draw at Craven
Cottage in what was an exciting and action filled encounter. Spurs
‘keeper Heurelho Gomes was outstanding in the first leg and is the
reason that these two sides are meeting to play for a place at Wembley
to meet Portsmouth in the FA Cup Semi Final and with Fulham having a
poor record on the road, they will believe that they can advance to the
final four stage.
Spurs are unbeaten in their last ten home games in all competitions
while Fulham have only won one of their last ten away games – the win
being at Accrington Stanley in the cup. These two sides also met at
White Hart Lane on January 26th in the league, with Spurs coming out
2-0 winners. With these formlines I feel that Spurs will be ones
progressing to Wembley.
www.BetRepublic.com Recommends: Tottenham Hotspur -1 on the match
handicap market @ 17/10 with Roman Pavlyuchenko to score anytime
(should he be fit and start the match) @ 10/11.
Manchester City v Everton:
This match is a big match with both sides needing the victory if they
are to stage any meaningful attack on the fourth Champions League spot
in the Premier League. A win for Man City will see them leapfrog Spurs
into fourth by a point with both sides having played the same amount of
games. Everton currently sit ten points behind Spurs and eight behind
City and need a victory to close the gap after their terrible first
half of the season.
Manchester City’s strong point this season has been their home form and
they remain unbeaten after eighteen games at the City of Manchester
Stadium in all competitions. They have won thirteen games and drawn
five, although two of those draws have been in their last two games.
Everton have not won in four away games, with three losses and a draw
to their name. However, they looked like they were making an
improvement against Birmingham City last time out, and were
threatening. I don’t think either side will get the win, which is a
result that won’t help either side.
BetRepublic Recommends: Back the draw @ 23/10 with both sides to score @ 4/6.
Portsmouth v Chelsea:
This last week hasn’t been a good week for either of these two sides.
Portsmouth finally received their nine point deduction for going into
administration and made relegation almost certain, were fined one
million pounds and revealed that they could no longer play Aruna
Dindane as another performance for him would invoke a clause that they
cannot afford to pay. Chelsea were dumped out of the Champions League
by former manager Jose Mourinho and after only managing a 1-1 draw at
Blackburn they were overtaken by Manchester United and Arsenal at the
top of the table. This is their game in hand and need to win it to move
back into second place, just one point behind Man Utd.
This should be an entertaining game, but Chelsea should take the three
points back to London despite having won only one of their last five
away games. Both sides have been scoring goals, with Portsmouth scoring
in all of their last fifteen home games, and Chelsea have been
conceding them on the road, so with Chelsea being at odds of 1/4 to win
the match my bets will not be on the match markets.
BetRepublic Recommends: Back both sides to score @ evens and there to be more than 2.5 goals in the match @ 6/10.
