Does anyone in here really love the Super Bowl?

Other than if your favorite team is in it, how much overkill is this event? It's not even about football, it's about making a scene and being cool. I'm glad it's not on FOX this Sunday because I'd have to sit through a Ryan Seacrest red carpet show. Championship Sunday has surpassed the Super Bowl. You get to see the passion of the home fans and players. Don't have much else to say, but just wanted to rant. Anyone else feel the Super Bowl has lost its luster?

I hate the ending. No celebration.  50/50 crowd. MLB, stanley cup, nba all have the crowds going nuts and players jumping and running around. Super bowl is lame

One weekend?...wtf are you talking about man?....The game is one day and it happens in 1 weekend..yes, but with the two weeks off between the game, the surrounding area is booming with people. Media and tourists pollute the shit out of the area. If you think the Super Bowl doesnt bring revenue to cities that hold the game then you are really dumb.

I dont know about anyone else in here? But Im pumped every single year for the Super Bowl and I have a great time every year. We throw an annual bash and have about 50 or more people over and everyone brings all kinds of food and booze and whatever the hell you can think of bringing to a party. Hell...I take Monday off every year for a recovery day. Dont be so gloom people and have a good time because this is gonna be a great game and a lot closer than people think.

I hate to rain on your happy little superbowl parade but it's a legit question to ask a true football fan.  To most hardcore fans the NFL season ends after the conf. chmpshp games and the SB just kind of follows 2 weeks later.  To be completely honest if my team isnt involved or I have no monetary interest I'd find it difficult to sit through the entire game and I love the NFL.  I watch every game every week of the season every year so it's not like I don't care it's just everything that goes with the game that's a turnoff from the commercials to the ridiculous halftime w/ lip sychin 70 year olds on stage to the corporate crowd that can care less about the game and just want to be there for the sake of being there just makes me want to puke every year come SB time....it's so fucking commercial I don;t know how it can't be a turnoff to diehard football fans.  To the casual fan and party hosts isn't all about the party to you people anyway?? The stupid box pools and women watching the game which is probably the biggest turnoff for me.  All season they bust your balls for watching football then it's superbowl time and they can't get enough of it.  I'm getting sick now just thinking about it which is why I have to get shitfaced drunk every superbowl to make the best of it.  Come on fellas who feels the same way here??  I can't be the only one.  If so tell me and I'll check myself in!

You sound more like a fan of football than a sportsbettor. From a gambling standpoint, outside of some interesting prop bets, the superbowl is not better than most regular season matchups.

In fact, I prefer any given regular season week in which to find a game or two for the purposes of wagering. Hell, ive been more excited over cleveland browns and st. louis rams games this year than I am about this matchup.

I've got mixed feelings on the Super Bowl. On the one hand for whatever reason year after year I am spectacular, never fails to happen. Even last year when I was doneski (PIT and over) I mean crown em after the Fitz TD right? Nope Santonio pulls it down to cover BOTH! Before that other than NYG the last one I lost was OAKLAND! Usually it's to finish out a mediocre to bad season though so it's little comfort.

On the other hand, the "event" infuriates me. Why does the game where we crown a champion insist on having a week of nonsense precede it? Why the hell does this have to turn into such a spectacle? You don't see this in other sports and it shouldn't be like it in the NFL. A family event?!? Are you fucking kidding me? That's how it's being portrayed now I've heard it many times "The Super Bowl is a family event"

No it's fucking not it's a football game. It's no different than any other football game you idiots (not you guys) don't give a damn about it all year long. Stop acting or pretending like you give a shit or know anything about football if you really watch the Super Bowl just because it is the Super Bowl.

Oh and people that watch "just for the ads" are people who I want to avoid on a daily basis. You gotta be fucking kidding me.

SAINTS +5 and on the ML by the way
