Lack of comps @ Mirage?

Has anyone else experienced this at The Mirage or any other strip hotel?

I sat down for my first blackjack experience over the past weekend, and was immediately told by the pit boss that I had to wager at least $25 per hand in order to be rated.  I usually bounce from $15 to $25 per hand, so I figured what the hell.  After 7 hours of play @ $25 per hand, I was told at the end of my trip that I didn't qualify for any comps.  What??  I realize I am by no means a high roller and a crazy player, but even the Hard Rock has comped me something for less play.  When I pressed the woman at the Player's Club desk, she told me I didn't lose enough to get anything.  They didn't even consider taking care of a few $25 room service bills for me.

Am I out of line for expecting at least a little something for the effort, or is this the new norm in Vegas?

The whole MGM/Mirage bunch has stopped giving comps to the regular people. They are in serious money trouble. The end result will be a lack of customers. Good for them.

Harrah's resorts comp great. I never play at MGM resorts for that reason. I play 10-20 dollar hands of black jack and i have never had to pay for a room. I even book 5 nights during march madness and it's all comped, and i'm not talking about crappy rooms either. Last year was at paris with a great view of the fountains and next year they comped us 5 nights the executive suite at harrah's all free. MGM propertys are a rip off, nice to look at but shitty on the comps!

I was just at the Mirage and I playes 25$ a hand for around 6 hrs each day for 3 days that I was there.  I didnt get a single thing.  I am seriously considering never staying at an mgm property ever.  This is vegas and they are just ruining everything that was so great about going to vegas.

VEGAS IS REALLY FUCKED UP IN SOME LOCATIONS. OVER PRICED, CHARGE FOR EVERY THING UNDER THE ROOF AND IN A BAD ECONOMY THEY STILL DO NOT GET IT.

FIND A PLACE AND GET TO BE KNOWN THERE AND $20.00 A HAND AS THEY SAY EARLIER WILL GET YOU  OMPED AT CERTAIN PLACES. USE THOSE HOTELS AND KEEP GOING BACK TO THE SAME HOTEL BUT REBEMBER VEGAS IS FUCKED UP AND ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS CHARGE CHARGE CHARGE.

WE MUST STICK TOGETHER AND BREAK THEM OF THAT BAD HABIT THEY GOT WHEN THINGS WERE SO GOOD FOR THEM.

Like the MGM, the Mirage bad, and I never enjoy myself there.

Harrah's also rips you off in a major way at the blackjack tables with despicable 6/5 payoffs for a blackjack instead of the standard 3/2.  JTROPE, do you play blackjack in Harrah's-owned casinos?  And if so, are you okay with getting paid $120 for a blackjack on a $100 bet instead of the $150 you're supposed to be getting?

In some cases, I feel it should be perfectly legal to punch someone in the face.

I work on the strip.  I find it so ironic that MGM?Mirage is turning away customers when they are going to need so many more when the monster city center opens.  yea city center will be full when it opens but what about the other joints.   Their business model is totally fucked up right now and do not blame anybody for not playing there.  Staying there is fine but gambling, i would go elsewhere.

As far as Harrahs goes.  I am really dissapointed in what the RIO  has become.  It used to be amazing with the Buffet and the high limit room.  now its just average.   personally i really feel if you playing tables in vegas and are looking for some freebies stick with the newer casinos.  you will get better service and better dealers as well.  higher table limits of course but you get what you pay for.

Get use to it until Harrah's and MGM MIrage emerge from the financial doldrums. Hell, comps were hard to attain even before economic meltdown. I've spent thousands at TI (before MGM sold it to Phil Ruffin) and about the same at Mandalay Bay (playing the requisite $25 hands) and all I've ever received is one comped room one night at TI.

I think the megaresorts just shrug their shoulders and dare you to take your money to Fitzgeralds or Riviera.

Now contrast this with the new M Resort. I called the casino host about four weeks ago to see how many "points" I've accumulated because I was thinking of going to Vegas for the Kentucky Derby weekend and wanted to see what kind of room rate I could get. The casino host said it would be comped (the Friday). Of course, I went.

Alas, that's probably going to be my last visit to Vegas until football season. I've taken too many jaunts there in the past year and have really lost more money than I care to, so I'm ending all wagering until then (haven't placed a bet since that visit which is beneficial as you can tell by my two black Wagerline stars--God damn, I suck at basketball and baseball, maybe if I legitimately loved those sports I'd read into matchups more and make prudent bets).

But bottom line, the megaresorts are very, very stingy right now, so don't expect anything from them.
