Over the past million years, it has been a tradition for Detroit and Dallas to host nationally televised games on Thanksgiving day.  Dallas has a tradition of winning and have had many great hall of fame players and minds like Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach, Emmit Smith, Tom Landry, and Jimmy Johnson to name a few.  The Detroit Lions have a history of.....well......nothing lately.  New rule, if you haven't made the playoffs in over 8 years, you not longer get national television coverage...deal?
