Did you ever match 6 numbers on your lottery ticket, only to find out that the ticket was for next weeks draw?  Did you ever marry the girl of your dreams, only to find out that it was really just a dream.  Did you buy a $1000 Plasma, only to find in on sale the next day at $600?  Well then this threads for you!

Here's are the top 10 NFL betting screw jobs of this years regular season the way I see it.  Keep in mind that these are just ATS screw jobs and not O/U or Money line screw jobs.  The lines I used are the closing lines on the covers NFL scoreboard, so your lines might have been a bit different.

Screw job #10

Week 6: Miami Dolphins at Houston Texans -3

Down by 5, Houston scores a last second game winning touchdown with 3 seconds left, putting them up 29-28. All the need to do is convert a 2-pt conversion for the push....they don't.  Texas win but don't cover.

Screw Job #9

Week 7: San Fransisco 49ers +10 at New York Giants

How do you give up a safety at your own 20 yard line?  San Fran found a way!  49ers down by 10 inside of 5 minutes and has the ball at their own 20 yard line.  Maybe a late drive could result in a cover or a push.  Nope, a QB sack results in a fumble which results in a San Fran  wide receiver coming back to kick the ball out of his own end zone for a safety which results in a 12 point Giant lead/victory,.

Screw Job #8

Week 14: St. Louis at Arizona.  Line: St. Louis +14

The road dog might not win, but they do have a chance to cover with a garbage touchdown.  1st down at the Arizona 10 yard line down by 17.  If the Rams can get a garbage touchdown here they'll have the spread covered by 4 and even if you can't recover the onside kick, you'll be giving the ball back to the Cards with less than 3 minutes left.   Chances are they'll just run the clock out instead of going all the way down the field for another TD.  Even if they kick a late field goal it's only a 13 point win and you can still cover by 1 point.  But wait, Bulger just threw an interception which was returned for a touchdown, fuck that scenario.

Screw Job #7

Week 16: Carolina Panthers +4 at New York Giants

Carolina had this game covered from the 1st minute to the 60th minute.  Unfortunately there was overtime to be played.  Overtime time games don't usually end in touchdowns, but this one did.  The Giants drove down field and had 1st and goal and the 2.  Instead of kicking the field goal which is what most teams would do, the Giants score the Touchdown, and Panther backers don't have a Merry Christmas

Screw Job #6

Week 5: Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans +3

Houston up by 17 with 5 minutes left and they're 3 point underdogs.  No way they could blow this right?  Wrong.  An Indy touchdown with 4 minutes left on a 4th and 6 cuts the lead to 10.  Then Rosenfels fumbles at the Indy 39 resulting and a defensive touchdown cuts the lead to 3.  1 minute later Rosenfels fumbles again, resulting in another turnover and eventually the game winning touchdown.  3 touchdowns in a span of 2:10.  Houston did have another possession with 1:47 left but I don't think I have to tell you anymore what happened to Rosenfels at the Indy 43 yard line with 42 seconds left.

Ha!! Nice write up, a few of these are way too familiar to me. The worse one I can recall is The Dwyane Rudd Game, or "Helmetgate". Giving a point to the Chiefs, and the Browns up 2, With the Chiefs driving at around the 50 but running out of time. Dwayne Rudd goes in for what looks like a game ending sack. But the old, stiff KC Quarterback slips out of the grasp and flings one up in the air, bounces of someone, and lands in a O-Lineman's hands, who then "rumbles" another ten yards with it. Thats ok, theyre at the oppponents 40 (too long gor a legit fg) and the clock is on 0:00. But oh no, thanksd to the "Emmit Smith Rule", Rudd has ripped off his helmet to celebrate what he thought was a game ending sack, only to get penalized 15 yards and extend the game one more play (since game cant end on a def penalty) KC trots out thier kicker to kick a game winning 40 yd FG to win and cover and makes me contemplate giving up sports betting for the 1st of MANY, MANY times in my life.
