Tips on how to win

If you want to win at Handicapping Hockey, Basketball, or Football, just follow some of these helpful imporant tips which are sure to help you win.

1) Home vs Road - Always distinguish between how a team plays at home vs. how they play on the road.  Treat it like they're 2 different teams. 

Example: In the 2nd half of the season, the New York Giants where are horrible 0-4 at home, but 4-0 on the road! They also won all 4 games away from road in the playoffs.  Overall they they were 11 -1 on the road last year

2) Hot or Cold - Try never to fade a hot team or ride a cold team regardless of who their opponent is during a streak.

Example: Pittsburgh Penguins won 17 in a row at home from early March to late May, therefore it probably wouldn't have been a good idea to fade them at home at the time

3) Deceiving records -a team's win/loss records can be deceving sometimes. A team which is on a big win streak may not be as good as they look.  Take a look at how they won those games and the quality of opponent during their streak.  Vice versa for teams on losing streaks.  A team might have trouble winning, but if they're playing high quality opponets or barely losing, they might not be as bad as their win loss record indicates.
