up 26-14 with   7 minutes left goes for 1.  i am happy he lost 28-27  he should be fucking fired that is a disgrace for an nfl coach

haurbaugh-   diego completes pass to the 1 with  1:49 left and he just lets  chargers run down clock. he had all 3 timeouts and could have got ball back with about 1:35 or so left instead he preferred to let  chargers score with 19 seconds and not even give his team a chance to score

mike micarthy-   scores with 2:04 left  and has all 3 timeouts and kicks an onside?  if crosby kicks a touchback there u basically have 4 timeouts considering the two min warning. does he not realize the game is basically over because of field position after the punt if u dont recover the onside?

horrible coaching moves week in and week out.

how about when its 3rd and 17 and the team will take a timeout instead of a delay of game.  makes me always laugh.  do they not realize they arnt going to get the first down anyway? the timeout is far more critical but  every single fucking team in the league will take the timeout everytime.

it could be 3rd and 40 and they would use the timeout.

anyone who knows the game of football care to argue any of these points?

i didn't see that detroit game.  from the scores flashing on the screen,

it looked like oakland hid it locked up.  how did oakland blow it?

Just so you know...the Raiders received a 15 yard flag after their TD....so if they would have went for 2 it would have been from the 17 yd line

Before you criticize maybe watch what is going on

oakland scored on a strip and sack fumble i believe.   regardless they were up 26-14 after the score..  there are 7 min left in the game and  oakland went for the xp.   you know detroit is only going to try for td's considering there were only 7 min left.   how the hell did he not go for 2?   if u go for 2 and get it then it would have been 28-28    instead he kicked xp and detroit answered with 2 td's and won 28-27      it wasent like it was early in the third quarter where u knew detroit would still be kicking fg's.     pathetic coaching and its a shame it will barely be mentioned anywhere on nfl network or espn  which is a joke

And again just to let you know Mason Crosby didn't kick a touchback all game, did you not see that wind? Kicking the onside was the only way to leave the time past the 2:00 warning giving them 4 timeouts. + it doesn't end the game because KC is not trying to score again, its either KC gets a first down to win the game or they dont and punt whether its at their 20 yard line or at midfield it doesn't change anything.

So in essence Mike Mccarthy made the right call giving them 4 timeouts and a chance to get the onside. They just couldn't stop KC's rushing attack. 100% the right call though

ok, but what do u gain by kicking the xp?    would u prefer to lose by 1 instead of 2?   i dont get it.   if u had the ball at ur own 1 yard line u should go for 2 in that spot it dosent matter   once again reason being is because u know that there is no way in hell detroit has time to beat u with  1 td and two fg's in that amount of time. so u MUST go for two regardless of field position

collegegambler says:
12/18/11 09:58PM

did u enjoy  mccarthy kicking an onside with 2:04 left?    u had all three timeouts and like i said if he kicked a touchback which he does a lot then u have basically 4 timeouts  with the 2 min warning

What do you think the chances of making a goal play from the 17??

Sure, you may not think a big difference between 13 or 12.  But, what about a missed XP???  What about TD and 2 fg???

Sure it looks bad now, but you dont go for 2 from the 17 yard line..

collegegambler says:
12/18/11 09:59PM

i disagree.  id rather them have it at say there own 25 yard line and then  u get the ball at around ur own 40 after the punt with a decent return with about 1:40 left

LeagueCapper says:

Dude it wasn't a bad play. The wind was blowing in at 14MPH+  The last 2 kickoffs from Crosby in the game didn't even reach the start of the endzone. It wouldnt have been a touchback with that wind no matter what. So in essence they are giving away a timeout to have the ball 20 yards deeper? possibly? (gettin it at their own 40 like you say)
collegegambler says:
12/18/11 10:03PM

its very hard to convert from there. my point is once again because the lions dont have time to get 1 td and 2 fg's to beat u they only have time for 2 td's  so u MUST go for two

LETGOPACK1234 says:

Do you just comment on games you dont watch???

Crosby wasnt kicking deep all game.  KC's punter had about 3 bomb punts...even if GB makes the stop they get the ball on the 20-30.  Take the on-side, make a stop and force a long fg from KC.

I like the on-side...either way they didnt make the stop anyways

LeagueCapper says:

Learn how to admit when your wrong. Mccarthy's decision was absolutely the right play I would do that 10 times out of 10 to give myself an extra timeout
LeagueCapper says:
12/18/11 10:04PM
AND the 10% chance of recovering the onside doesn't hurt either...
LETGOPACK1234 says:
12/18/11 10:05PM

There was 8 min left in the game...they could score 3 times...was it likely??  Not at all...but what if they take the kick back there???  Then its a 5 point game with 8 minutes left.

Another TD from the Lions and Oakland is now down 3.  Instead of winning with a fg, Oak would be trying to tie.

You are wrong, stop arguing

McCarthy fucked up by not challenging the TD that would have been reversed and a touchback for Green Bay - the onside kick was fine.

i wasent aware of the wind.   u guys should now admit in a normal game with 2:04 left and all 3 timeouts  that  almost all teams would kick it deep no?   again to my point of a possibly touchback and basically 4 timeouts with the 2 min warning.

secondly  lets say ur the head coach and u just scored to go up 12 with    7 min left.  even after an unsportmanline conduct penalty u are going to go for 1 in that spot?  u really think there is time for the other team to get 3 scores  (1td and 2 fg's to beat U?)

LeagueCapper says:
12/18/11 10:12PM

In a normal game yes I would try for the touchback. As for Hugh Jackson and Harbaugh's ineptness you are correct. I would have went for 2 even if it was from midfield. and Harbaugh's stupidity is just unexcuseable. Onside Kick was the right play though.

just a quick question for u. at what point do u go for 2 then?  does it have to be under 2 minutes for u to go for 2 with a twelve point lead?

collegegambler says:

LETGOPACK1234 says:

I would much rather keep it a 2 td game and 2 xp game to beat me, then a TD and 2 fg to beat me

If you dont think 8 minutes is enough for an NFL team to score 3 times then you dont watch alot of football

collegegambler says:
12/18/11 10:19PM

u say that and yet how many possesions did detroit get after  hugh jackson kicked the xp?????????

2 possesions

collegegambler says:
12/18/11 10:23PM

plus basically with the way the clock runs in the nfl   if the raiders even got one or two first downs it is very unlikely   detroit would have had time for  3 scores..    plus they only had two timeouts. they wasted a timeout before the raiders fg  lol

LETGOPACK1234 says:

collegegambler says:
12/18/11 10:37PM

so u are saying u would prefer to go for 1 and lose 28-27 as opposed to 28-26   say u got the two what would have happend today??  the fucking game would have went to ot instead of u losing jerkoff

collegegambler says:
12/18/11 10:40PM

my last question of the night is what do u have to gain by going for one?  with 7 min left there is not time for 3 scores by the other team realistically.

lets say u go up by 1  with 1 minute left   and u get an upsportmanline conduct penalty..  do u still go for 1?     that way u can lose by  1 point after they kick a game winning fg?

why would u possibly go for 2?  u wouldnt want to possibly go up by 3 so a fg wouldnt beat u would you?    no that makes no sense at all lets just kick the xp and lose by 1 on a fg  according to u.

and that situation is no different from here.    for the last fucking time  it would be different in the lions had time for 3 scores...  1 td and 2 fg's.  they do not have time for that  with only 2 timeouts  which was fucking shown by the fact they only got 2 possesions after that.

collegegambler says:
12/18/11 10:42PM
how can anyone agrue this  when the raiders lost by that one point?  according to u i guess if ur down 8  and u score a td   you would prefer to go for the xp if u got an unsportsmanline conduct penalty.
collegegambler says:
12/18/11 10:43PM
my last comment for the night. i understand football and  i realize if this was early in the game  1, 2 ,3 or even like 13 min left in the 4th that the correct play is to go for one  but with 7 min left  u go for two every time in this spot there is no debate.
