Vince Carter to Cavs............

Anyone know anything about this rumor?

If Danny Ferry gets both Shaq and Vince to Cavs then he gets my vote for GM of the year before the season even starts.

It appears that the guy is trying hard to keep his job.....because im my opinion, both he and the coach are on the "hot seats".

Is it fair, NO.

But like Avery Johnson once said, players win games.....and you can have the nicest coach and the nicest players....but if those players are not winning games in the regular season AND in Cavs case to get a title.....then having the wrong players can cost a head coach (and the GM) his job.

3ballbomber,

I don't know if LBJ can be compared to a yester-year Kobe with regards to not truly making the Cavs team better like Kobe did not make the LA team better.

LBJ is the in the mole of Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson and Jason Kidd ...all of which made (makes) their teammates better....thats what the "spirit" of a triple double communicates.....someone that is doing a lot for the team especially if they accomplish the triple double by getting double digit assists.  Kobe is a scorer 1st -- passer second --- and a non-triple double player........I don't know if anyone notices that he forces himself to pass in 1st Qtrs (i.e., facilitator) to pile up as many assists that he can then proceeds to jack up 30 - 33 shots ---- LBJ is not in the mold...he is a pass first superstar throughout the game -- if you are open, you are getting the ball.  And because he does the right thing and passes it to you, he must have finishers on the floor that can complete the play with the jump shot or the drive to the hole or the dunk (hence Shaq, Wallace or Carter)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As far as the other posts from others about Carter not being the answer or a past his prime O'neal not being the answer......remember, this is LBJs team......and LBJ is the primary option............this is all about shaking up the chemistry to find the right mix for LBJ and the Cavs

IMHO, Carter gives them a player that -- for spurts in the game -- can have the offense ran through him....he can hit the three and he can still take it to the hoop and finish.  Acquiring Carter would not make him the man...he would be a second option....and in my opinion a good second option

Acquiring Shaq gives the Cavs more strength in the post and he finished the season real strong.  Again, he would too not be the primary option...but an upgrade nonetheless, because who does the Cavs throw the ball to in the post to get a basket.  Shaq can still put the ball in the hoop and if he took off some weight like some say he has and is motivated than Shaq, LBJ, Cavs could benefit from that and have a stronger run at the title

If they got Rasheed Wallace he could give the Cavs the look that the Magic have with Rashard Lewis -- A "4" that can hit the three is matchup problems for almost all teams.  I really think the Magic tried to avoid Detroit in the 1st round of this years playoffs because of Rasheed Wallace and other matchup problems that the Pistons posed to them.....acquiring Rasheed Wallace brings an additional matchup problem to the Cavs cards that could hurt the Magic and nearly all teams in future matchups.

So I repectfully disagree, since I feel that LBJ is the best player in the league and all he needs is a little more help (with size)....having small perimeter players (Mo Williams and D West) is not a roster that will get you a title.....YES, they can win a lot of regular season games (like Dallas Cowboys or Phoenix Suns) ......but not win a title...........so the roster shake-up for the Cavs, to me, has to have them getting bigger and better at the same time........not staying smaller.

vince sells tickets, but he is not the answer...

I have been saying this for years...  Lebron will NEVER win a championships playing with Ilgauskas...  Lebron needs a more dynamic big man...  a healthy big ben is a better fit...

But think if lebron got to play with someone like tyson chandler or someone that can finish at the rim like kenyon martin...

I think all this trying to move players on the cavs is stupid... they need addition by subtraction...

Good points.

That's why being a GM is a chess game.  I love to play chess.

And making the wrong moves can lead to someone losing their job.

I respectfully disagree.  I think Vinsanity could be a GREAT #2 guy....some guys (like Odom) may not be a legit #1 guy but can excel when the attention is on another person.

I do not think the cavs will make this move, but I do feel that it would be a good move if they got carter or R. Wallce to parley with Shaq.

Just my opinion....but that roster is an upgrade from the roster they presently have.

Carter is hot sweaty garbage. Any team who's serious about winning should stay clear of him.

I don't know why there's such a panic in Cleveland. These guys won a lot games last year and they will be more experienced next year (e.g., don't fuck every hooker you see during the week-long layoff between series). They need better role players so that fucking Wally won't be on the floor during crunch time. Shaq and Vince have big egos and they won't be good for chemistry. Wasn't team chemistry one of their biggest strength last year? This isn't fantasy basketball or collecting basketball cards. Getting Shaq and Vince is stupid.

How can people still knock James after the way he played through the playoffs....one game he had a hand in the last 30+ str8 points scored in 2nd half....at some point somebody other than LBJ has to hit a shot, get a rebound or get a stop..they lost a game to the Magic after Mo couldnt grab a rebound with a 1 pt lead and 6 seconds and another cause they let Howard dunk 5 times in OT...after Brown had given orders to foul

He can give this squad point blank looks and they dont convert PERIOD...Andy is trash...he goes to the basket like a girl and gets stuffed or touch fouled misses the shot then the FTs to boot and wants 10 mill a year???

Z barely makes it down the court b4 the shot clock expires...nuff said

Mo is at best a streaky shooter but at least he can create for himself..

The rest of the squad are up for grabs several been mentioned in sign and trade deals

Lots of talk and the Cavs will make a move at some point but they want to keep cap room next year but i doubt its Shaq with what hes asking for...

It is safe to say that No one is liked by everyone.

Even MJ has his haters...Tiger Woods has his detractors.....and so will LBJ

But when you say NOBODY likes him that appears to be more of a stretch.

The question is does the majority of people like him....and I think it is safe to say YES they do like LBJ especially if you remove Kobe or LA fans from the mix and assess truly objective people.

Many people have disagreed with me about Vince Carter.....I think if he is on the right team and is relegated to a #2 or #3 option he will excel.

None of us are GMs....but if I was a GM and Vinsanity is healthy, and I could pull the deal off, then YES I would acquire him and try to give LBJ some help by a player with a 3 point shot in his game that can also put the ball on the floor to get his shot off.
