BetEd and Your $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

This is the way I see it:

We all need to work hard together in unity to make sure we get our money back.  Yes it is easy to blame someone for our misfortunes, but I really doubt that Covers or BetEd wanted this to happen.  i do believe that Covers is gonna help us to get our $$$ back, but making derogotory comments about someone is not a very smart thing to do, cause they just might say screw us!

Now as far as the Goverment of the United States, and the prosecuters in Baltimore MD, they are just doing job!  Yes, BetEd made a costly mistake by doing illegal transactions there.  If this had not had happened we would not be having the trouble we are having now.

Now, as far as myself I had $725 in my account when it was seized by the Dep. of Justice.  I know that is not as much as a lot of you that had accounts with BetEd, but it was a lot of money to me.  I changed over from BetUs just a couple months ago to BetEd because a lot of people on here was complaing about BetUs no paying out in a timely manner or just not being paid and yes I did go by Covers rating of BetEd being there #1 sportsbook and a lot of people here bragging about them.  I also have never asked for a payout from BetEd.

Now, for the ones here in the US that have been receiving payouts especially large ones and not paying taxes on it, you better hope to GOD BetEd run off with your money!  They did you a favor!

Lou, I know you have been workng hard on getting information, and I know you must be frustrated when someone tells you something that is not right, such as the customers money is secure.  I hold no ill feelings towards Covers or BetEd or any of you here on Covers.  I blame myself for making a bad decision!  I wish I would have pidked another book such as The Greek or Legends with a Grade A++

So now that has been said, instead of making excuses!  Lets find solutions to our problem?  What should we do 1st?  I have an idea and want to know what you all think?  Why dont we contact the Dept. of Justice and just simply ask about our $$$$$$$$ that was seized Monday and what they intend on doing with it?  Do we stand a chance of getting it back?  To me this is a business for me to make extra money to send my kids to college, because I can't afford to do it, cause i don't make enough because of all the taxes taken out and our suck ass economy we have right now!!!!!

So?  What do you all think of calling the them and just asking?  We do have that right!  Don't we?  They have not took our Constitutional Rights yet!

Lets hear what you think needs to be the solution to the problem and please Mods to your job and kick out stupid ass threads that are not helpful to us poor customers of BetEd.  Please No More Bashing of anyone!    Cool Heads will Prevail!  Thanks for reading my long ass post.

I continue to post this to try and get people to put this into perspective.

Here is how I accept this fate. It's only money

Imagine the horror the people of the south and the midwest are dealing with. Houses destroyed, life savings gone in a flash and worse of all losing family members before you had a chance to say goodbye.

Count your blessings and hug your family.

Once again, it's only money and that can be replaced.

Seems we are just going to have to accept that our money at beted is gone.
dixonbets says:
05/25/11 11:41PM

Oh I totally agree with you on that.  This is a different subject.  about right and wrong.  It would be wrong for all BetEd customers not to receive there $$$$ back.  It would be right for all to get it back.  If not atleast do something good with all the money that has been sized and give it to victims of tornados or all the firefightes dying today from cancer due to 9/11.

jlyttle says:

you are incorrect...DOJ seized bank accounts, so yes they do...
dixonbets says:
05/25/11 11:50PM

Got proof?  I have proof that DOJ has seized all Beted banking accounts!  So how the hell could they run off with all the money?  If so do you believe that BetEd had no huge customers from where they are from that are not in the US?  They wouldn't run far i promise you that!  They will take care of business

dixonbets says:
05/25/11 11:54PM

Anybody ever figure out what surgery the BetEd officail had????

just as soon as tis happened?  Nobody nows?

Is there anybody here from where beted is located?  that can tell us about what happens with your $$$$.  US can't seize their $$$$.  So if they did run off, they should very pissed!

This may help shed some light:

Gambling911.com has learned that BetED.com funds are indeed frozen in international bank accounts as part of the sting operation.  Whether all of these funds are tied up in these accounts remains debatable.

Players will have the option to file claims with the US Attorney’s Office out of Baltimore, however, it could take months to recover said funds.

Gambling911.com will continue to alert readers of any further developments.

I asked the question to make you think???  People get mad that are close to him and could have harmed him???  Makes sense to me.

dixonbets says:
05/26/11 12:24AM

BetED.com has confirmed to Covers.com that they have shut down their business.

betEd is out of business. Period. There will be no alternate site launched. They came to this conclusion upon the recommendation of their lawyers.

And to top it off... the American authorities have seized ALL of the players money. There is no middle ground here. The money is gone until the authorities decide to give it back.

And before you blame betEd for this and make accusations that they have cut and run with the money, it is not so. Yes, they have cut, and maybe they plan to run, but they have no money. They are victims too. In fact, they are currently liquidating their personal assets to fund the lawyers fees they will soon be needing. I am sure nobody is interested in hearing about their problems right now, but I thought I would mention it before the rumors start.

This sucks. No doubt about it.

dixonbets says:
05/26/11 12:42AM
atleast they have lawyers?  They means they didn't run off
dixonbets says:
05/26/11 12:46AM
I do believe this will work out now.  Does anybody now when the court date is?
dixonbets says:
05/26/11 12:47AM
will they be brought to Baltimore MD for trial?
dixonbets says:
05/26/11 01:03AM

Here is what I am speculating is gonna happen:

BetEd officials and their lawyers will have a court date soon. Hopefully the lawyers will ask for the money to be given back to customers and then they will settle with the US DOJ.  Might take a few court dates, but if they have lawyers BetEd is fighting for their customers and their business.  They will be back i am sure.  just dont know when.

And why is that? I'm assuming you read the article on Gambling 911? It states that we will most likely get our money back (just as in the Netteller seizure in 2006) but it will take 9 months...

Or do you know something else? B/c i can't see how anything is "better" at this time?

mixitup44 says:

I personally had 2,153 dollars on my beted account and I too want it back but I believe we have to let the dust settle and then react. Covers isn't to blame it is beted and the government. If there is something that makes you feel like its getting better I am perplexed to that idea because nothing can be looking better at the moment because there is not any new news out there to assist us.

I feel covers will help us with this but we need to give it some time and hope that we get what is ours. I am not over the fence yet about the money not being returned but after the intial court day we will have a better understanding of the current conditions with this indictment.

AlvySinger says:

Here's my opinion of what is going to happen with Beted.  Beted will eventually enter into a plea agreement with the US Attorney.  As part of the agreement, they'll pay a significant fine and also agree to not accept anymore US based accounts and/or wagers.  They'll also agree to repay all US based customers, the amount of funds that were in their accounts at the time of the indictment on May 23rd.  As part of this, any outstanding open wagers will be canceled and the amount of the wager will be returned to the customer.  In addition, any violation of this agreement in the future will result in much harsher punishment to the operators of Beted.   Both sides will do anything to avoid a costly and lengthy trial and Beted would like to continue to do business in markets outside of the US.  Customers will get their funds back but it will take time.  It sort of like when Pinnacle decided to abandon the US market.  They froze your ability to make wagers, closed your account and sent you a check for the funds that were in your account.  Except this time it is not voluntary on the part of the book.

I agree, covers has so be somewhat liable for recommending this book. Why should their customer lose all their money and covers not lose anything. Covers should give all of the advertising money earned by bet ed back to all the people who lost their money. that was it is a wash and covers didn't make money from something that harmed their cliental so badly.

kev21az says:

I guess at this point i hope the us government does have the money, as i feel there is more chance of us getting the money back that way than from beted at this point.

For those of you wondering about withdrawals initiated prior to Black Friday, I don't think you will ever receive your money.  I made a withdrawal request on 5/8/11 for $ 1,500 and was told that I would receive my money via direct deposit (instantcheck) within 72 hours.  Then I was told that it would take 10 business days to receive the funds.  Afer 10 days had passed, then I was told that the withdrawal request had been returned to Beted because my bank account had been closed.  In the meantime, I had made 28 deposits into my Beted account via instantcheck since my withdrawal request on 5/8/11 and all 28 transactions were deducted from the same bank account that Beted informed me had been "closed".  Needless to say, my money is gone and I will never see that $ 1,500 deposit.  Live and learn....the lesson was a hard one to learn, but I will not make that mistake again.  Good luck to everyone involved in the Beted situation.....

Dixon.

First of all, nice avatar.

Secondly, we have been updating other threads, if you are looking for info. I'm tired of chasing down 25 threads in 4 forums and posting the same response in each, so I'm only updating the top thread now.

My hunch is it'll be a while before we get any official statement from betED, as they are probably listening to lawyers first, and it always seems that lawyers give the most nonsensical advice.

Redone this from earlier post:

I know officials from Beted can't say anything right now, but their lawyers have to realize there is an ass load of $$$$$ out there, that their clients didn't protect, and there are now a lot of pissed off people whos in the dark.  They owe us an explanation and a plan on the future of our money.  I can handle losing a wager, but I can't handle losing money like this.  I just hope I am not being played like a fool again!
When he Feds seize accounts don't they usually tell how man accounts and how much $$$$ was seized?  To them its like bragging, just like when they do a drug bust.  It is pubic info, but for some reason it's being very secretive here.

dixonbets says:
05/29/11 12:25PM

Okay, I am starting to get pissed off!!!!  I thought we are the customers here???  Supposed to be protected??  This whole thing needs to settled quickly!  At least some productive info!  I do take resposibility for my actions, but there has to be some level of customer royality on behalf of betEd and covers.  I feel like I have just been raped and my pimp (covers) is trying to cover it up. How can you promise we are gonna get our $$$$ back without a plan?  I would like to see the update thread being used a whole lot more than in the past 6 days!!!  6 threads in 6 days!  I think we are owed more than that!

dixonbets says:
05/29/11 03:21PM

No response!  Just keeps getting better!  I hve tried to deposit $$$$ in other books with no luck!  This absurd! What the hell is this country going too!  Told how you can spend your your hard earned money!  Sounds like communism!

I believe officials from BetEd have been told to be quite and was advised by lawyers to close up shop for now until the dust clears.  Until they have the 1st court date.  As far as being bailed out I don't think another book would touch it with a twenty foot pole right now.  I think we are gonna have to wait a long time to learn the outcome of this.  I do find it hard to believe they didn't know what was happening before it it with all the 100% bonuses they where offering, and according to other sites that believe the knew also.  It would look good to show up for court with no more BetEd.  So I don't blame them for that.  I do blame BetEd for not being more careful with everybody's $$$$.  I do hate it for Covers though, cause it really looks bad when you endorse someones site that much and this happens.  It's very hard to earn people's trust and when something likes this happens it makes you think real hard about things.

Emotions are high right now from the ones that lost $$$$$.  When people come on here and make smartass comments.  It fires people up.  What has been the biggest shock to me out of this, is how attitudes change in here from; I guess officials from covers?  To run a successful business you have to show concern for the customer where you think you are right or not.  Not by cussing customers and calling them names.  It just adds salt to the wounds.  The people on here that have lost or think they have lost need to vent.  I thought that is why you have forums.  To discuss and learn.

I ask that everybody that has $$$$ tied up right now in Beted.  keep on researching the net and find out any new info and update this tread, so we can at least have a common ground and come up with a plan possibly?  I hope you join in this fight and work together.

Thanks

OK guys,

No need to worry about yourselves, first of all.

Nobody - not the DOJ, and not the IRS  - is going to arrest you. They have nothing on you because you have broken no laws.

I have to apologize, because since I've been doing this for 16 years, I often forget and make assumptions that everybody on the site has the same general industry and legal knowledge that comes with experience.

I've seen so much mis-information and dis-information over the last week that I've decided to put together a general post that kind of sorts out where you all stand legally.

It will be up either tonight or tomorrow, depending on how much editing needs to be done to it.
FreedomAtStake says:

richsox - I'm not even going to argue this point with you anymore, other than to say you are wrong. Completely wrong. In fact, a grand jury is about the only situation in the American court system where the public is absolutely kept in the dark about what happens inside.

That's why those indictments are considered "sealed", because nobody knows what's inside.

Here, read about Grand Jurys. You will see that,

"The prosecutor is not obliged to present evidence in favor of those being investigated. Grand jury witnesses have no right to have a lawyer or family in the room, and can be charged with holding the court in contempt (punishable with incarceration for the remaining term of the grand jury) if they refuse to appear before the jury and all evidence is presented by a prosecutor in a cloak of secrecy, as the prosecutor, grand jurors, and the grand jury stenographer are prohibited from disclosing what happened before the grand jury, unless ordered to do so in a judicial proceeding."

So, this actually supports the idea that betEd didn't know what was about to happen.

Basically, the attorney brought in his investigator, who gave her opinion to the Grand Jury, and they indicted. They sealed the indictment until they got their seizure warrants and Panama signed its Tax Treaty with America. Then they ambushed betEd.

Dixonbets. First off nice avatar. Second, when I read your post I feel sorry for you and everyone else that lost coin with BetED. I think the bigger picture is hoping that the D.O.J. and the I.R.S. don't affect my fellow cappers. I appreciate eveyone's opinion on each sport. It's nice to have others enlighten me on things when my personal research falls short. The US will continue to be aggressive on this matter. I suggest that people find locals or stop this on-line stuff. On-line gaming is a big fucking headache anyway. I wish you well dixonbets, but I think by doing what you are doing is only incriminating yourself further. Good luck brother.

I'm sure that everyone at covers is tired of being bashed and accused of this, that, and the other. Whatever it is that you were going to post is needed. The mis-information or people being mis-guided would probably subside at bit if you would follow through with what you promised. I really hope nobody has their hopes up that they are going to see any money returned...There are just not any plausible scenario's in which this could happen. The US DOJ should have better things to do than go after these offshore books. Furthermore, in the process straight up stealing American users money. Shameful. Dont be expecting a goverment check in the amount of what your B.E. balance was or any amount for that matter. Its just not going to happen. The US GOV. looks at this as criminal activity even though its not. Whats also shameful is Bet ED's huge bonus offers right before this went down. They knew what they were doing. Dont look for these angels to be refunding your money especially now that they are officially shop closed.
My question is what Books are the DOJ most likely not to go after, they would probably be based on location?
