Rebels!!!!!!!!!!!!! next to last game??

Hey guys been a crazy 2 weeks for me put in 65 hr weeks and finally got to relax tonight. I have got to stop betting fckn hockey!!!!

The Rebels come into the tourney opener playing their best basketball of the year according to coach Kruger. The main reason is that Willis the Rebel senior and captain has finally got his swagger back after dealing with adversity for most of the year. He has returned to score 18 pts per game and has hit 65% from 3 in his past 5 games.

The Rebels also re-committed to extra shooting practice, after a horrible shooting slump in Jan and Feb where they were shooting around 30% from the 3 point line!!

The only concern is that Illinois has the length to be disruptive like the Aztecs but at a much less talent level.  The Illini have a solid player in McCamey who avgs 14.8 per and 6 assists, along with a glossy 45% from 3 point land. The problem is most games he is the only one who shows up!!  The team is only 6-10 over the second half of the season and struggled in the big 10 tourney.

The Rebels will be the quicker team and if they hit open shots I see no problem with them covering the -2. If ILL comes to play and focuses on perimeter defense for which they were 2nd in the Big 10 then I can see an upset. Which team will show up and be hungrier??  The loss last year to N. Iowa in the opener for the Rebels was very painful according to Willis. Look for him to be the difference maker on both ends of the fl... [More]

McConnell is better than Fredette??

I think that McConnell is a better team player and does not have to hog the ball as much to be effective. Although Jimmer gets the points he is prone to playing out of control and gets caught in the air, only to get bailed out by the refs!!  Any thoughts or opinions??

Do we have a shot Rebel Report!!! SDST!! 1/12

OK we have seen what Jim boy Fredette is capable of and have to admit he has beaten me twice so far this week.......

On to the next Rebel challenge.  This is indeed a challenge facing a undefeated 6 ranked San Diego team at home.  The Aztecs have beaten the Rebels the last couple of years, 5 out of the last 6 to be exact. There is talk that Aztecs have not really been tested.  The 3 teams that they beat with some name value include Gonazga, St, Mary and Wichita St.  Here is what the local SD news is saying....

This is the same Runnin' Rebels team -- with perhaps more depth -- that SDSU defeated in the Mountain West tournament championship game last March. And it's a squad that has been ranked as high as 20th in the nation this season while eliciting praise from one of the sport's elite coaches.

"Early in the season, (Louisville coach) Rick Pitino made the comment that other than Duke, (UNLV) is the best team in the country," SDSU coach Steve Fisher said. "This is a veteran team with a lot of players, that's deep and well coached and lost a home game (last week) that they felt they should have won. We'll get their best shot."

UNLV routed Texas Christian on Saturday, three days after dropping its conference opener to No. 11 Brigham Young. The Rebels (13-3, 1-1) opened the season with nine straight victories, beating No. 20 Wisconsin and Virginia Tech before losing at No. 18 Louisville on Dec... [More]

Rebel Report!! 76 Classic Championship 11/28!!

I have been under estimating my Rebels out of habit from previous years of under achieving. I may have to start giving this team credit.
They currently rank 3rd in FG offense at 55% and rank fourth in defense at just under 33%. I see the shooting dropping off, but they should remain consistent with their pressure defense. They have been able to play unselfish with lots of players getting involved in the scoring thus far. That is pretty good considering Willis has not had what we would consider his game!!  I am considering playing the over but have yet to see a line or total.

Virginia Tech does not do well with pressure as K State exposed them recently. Malcolm Delaney and Jeff Allen lead this team and from what I have seen they like to play what their coach calls "ugly". They like to force teams into up-tempo helter skelter type game, which Rebels like to do anyways. Look for lots of points being scored and plenty of turnovers. Here is a quick look at the V Tech basketball recent notes......

Entering Today’s Game
The Hokies enter today’s game with a 4-1 overall record ... The Rebels are 5-0 on the
season ... This game is for the championship of the 76 Classic.

This will be the first meeting between the two schools ... The Hokies are 4-1 all-time

Rebel Report!! 11/26 Murray St. 76 Classic!!

Lets do it again!!

Here we go Rebels!!  Here we go!!!!

Game went as expected last night with Tulsa.  Tulsa played well till the end and gave it all they got. Rebels have a deep bench and it will
help them tonight against Murray St. I did not get to see the Stanford win but I have read some blogs and reports and found one that I like...

The winner of this battle will be up against the survivor of the Virginia Tech/Oklahoma State matchup in the title game on Monday night.

Murray State benefited from an awful display by the Cardinal in the first half of last night's matchup, but the Racers were not able to simply cruise to the win, instead they had to hold on for the three-point difference down the stretch. After shooting an even 50 percent from the floor in the first half MSU made good on only seven field goals after the break, needing 12-of-16 at the free-throw line to keep hope alive. B.J. Jenkins emerged as the lone double-digit scorer for the group with his 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field. The Racers don't have a single, dominant scoring presence by any means, but what they do have is three solid and consistent performers in Jenkins (11.0 ppg), Isaiah Canaan (10.8 ppg) and Donte Poole (10.0 ppg) who have combined to make an astounding 21-of-43 chances behind the three-point line thus far. As a team the Racers are knocking down 40.7 percent out on the perimeter, compared to only 25.4 perc... [More]

Rebel Report!! 11/26 Tulsa 76 Classic!!!

Happy holidays all you happy sports bettors!!!

Lets talk some Unlv basketball!   Rebels are coming off a close win over Wisconsin, where Wisky was held to 36% shooting and their stud Leuer was held to 10 pts. Some point to the fact that he did not play much in the first half, but I watched him be ineffective for most of the game. They do not play much pressure man to man in the Big 10 fellas!!

Stanback had the game of his young career with 25 points and Bellfield also hit clutch 3s. Rebs were able to hit 9 for the game which was a great improvement from hitting only 1 in their previous match-up. They will not be able to match that accuracy with consistency so they will have to rely on better ball movement. Willis had a sub-par game with 4 points but had 5 assists. Look for him to be a factor in this 76 Classic. The new big men were effective, Lopez showed some rebounding and a little offense. New comer Thomas, a transfer from Kansas, has had foul trouble and Massamba will only get better when he gets better with his hands.

Here is the schedule for the up coming 76 Classic which has a strong field this year!!

Thursday's 76 Classic First Round Match-ups

11:30 A.M. Virginia Tech vs. Cal State Northridge (ESPNU)

1:30 P.M. DePaul vs. Oklahoma State (ESPN2)

6:00 P.M. Murray State vs. Stanford (ESPNU)

Rebel Report 11/17 Wisconsin!!!

Here we go again!!!

I waited too long to get my tickets and had to settle for corner seats at the T and M oh well I will be in the building!!!  I am not a big baller nor pretend to be......

Willis is finally back and will be coming off the bench. I see a perfect opportunity for him to get off and show why He is the star player for this Rebel team. He has been in many big games, he will do just fine!!

The team seems to thrive on defensive pressure, which is good cause last year they did not stop any penetration or have any inside presence. The funny thing about their easy win over SE Louie is that the streak of 774 straight games making a 3 was in jeopardy until Stanback hit one with bout 8 min left in the game. Last year and recent years, Rebs have depended on 3s far too much and did not hit them at a high percentage.  There is a lot of balanced scoring thus far, with 9 players scoring at least 7 points on Wednesday. I realize that this will be the first good test for this team and will be a good measuring stick as to how good we really are. Kruger will alternate his band of guards to give Wisky fits on the perimeter. Look for either Willis or Jaspar to try and stop their stud Leuer. Wisconsin returns most of their players from last year
here is a quick cut and paste......

wisconsin badgers
Wisconsin is ranked No. 25 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' poll and is just two spots out of the
Associated Press poll ... The Badgers opened ... [More]

Enough already!!! UNLV -1!!!

I have read and heard all the praise for N Iowa and their defense. I am convinced that their 28-4 record is deceiving. Only one win against quality opponent Siena.  Rebels are known to play a smothering type defense too. They are equal as far as FG % defense. The thing that is not being talked about is the Rebels depth, especially with guard play. Kruger will rotate his guards and were out N Iowa guard play it happened to Louisville, Pitino could not wait to get out of Vegas. I see a close game with N Iowa getting pooped at the end and Kruger will win at the end. Rebels edge out Panthers by 2 or 3 points!!!!    UNLV -1

UNLV runnin Rebels!!!

OK guys I have not written a report in quite a while!!!  I have been on a emotional rollercoaster with this team lately.  Rebs finished off a nice 5 game win streak when they handed BYU their ass here at the T & M. I was at the game, where they played their best half in years topping over 50 points in the 1st half. Since that awesome performance, they have all fallen off a cliff and have everyone here mesmerised!!  There is even talk that they will not make the Big Dance unless they get their heads out of their asses. Willis and Stanback have played two shitty games in a row and that can not happen, they will not win. There has also been a lack of passion and defensive intensity. I wrote last year at this time that they were finished because of internal strife among players. This year, I feel it is just a matter of putting together a solid win at Utah tomorrow. With a Utah win, they can run the table against the bottom half of the conference, three of them will be at home. They then finish the season at Air Force. Winning the Conference tourney at home is not a given this year, they have some stiff competition in BYU and NM. They MUST get it done at Utah to insure a solid year!!!!

UNLV  ML   (just win baby!!)

This will be a revenge game also for the home game that Utah took a few weeks ago!!!

Unlv Report SD ST!! 1/13

OK guys, I know that I have been a doubting Thomas with my Rebels and my wallet has paid the price for my lack of faith. I was very impressed by Rebs victory at the Pit by DD margin. Rebels defense almost pulled out 2 difficult road victories to start conference play. Kendall Wallace is emerging as our go- to sharp shooter. He and Tre von Willis have a contest in practice to see who hits 21 threes first and Kendall comes out on top more often than Willis.  Trevon and Bellfeild have become proven leaders. Stanback played his best game against NM, that is what we expected when he transfered from UCLA. Jaspar is coming out of shell nicely, he may be our secret weapon. I see a close game again with SD ST, expecially because they are long and athletic. Rebels also have struggled against this team. I sat in the  5th row last year when they lost to this team 68-66 in OT.  This years team is much better than last years, I see the Rebs winning by 4-5 points.  SD ST +7!!!

I am also going to play a 5 point teaser with both these teams and 2 other games. I do better than average in NCAAB teasers!!                                                          &nbs... [More]

UNLV Report 1/6 BYU!!! POY (Large)!!!

Well guys the holidays have kept me from posting, I got emabarrased by the Nevada pick last time I made a pick on Covers. This time I am very confident in the outcome of the BYU game that is being played in the Marriotte Center one of the toughest places to play in the country. The Rebels have been off for 12 days now, and last played on Christmas day in Hawaii. A tough and ugly loss to USC. Coach Kruger has been stressing playing a more physical and mental game. Teams with bigger and more physical players have taken the Rebs out of their offense. Kansas St.and USC being their only 2 losses, fit the bill. Both BYU and UNLV have great perimeter players. BYU is led by Jimmer Fredette, Emery and Tavernari, who can all light it from 3 point range especially at home. Cougers are great in transition and recently killed Arizona in Arz by 30 points. Fredette is a big time player and will surely play at the next level. The 12 days of Christmas will have a big effect on UNLV. They rely on their pressure defense and inconsistent 3 point shooting. They are deep and should keep the game close in the the first half. I have seen Rebels go into Salt Lake and play some very ugly games...................................................... BYU will cover the 9 points!!!  Enough said!!   BYU -9  20 units

I bet with my head and not my heart!!

Nevada- Capable 100 yd backs!!

The duties of running back will now fall on sophomore Lampford Mark and redshirt freshman Mike Ball, both of whom have had 100-yard games this season. Junior Courtney Randall, Nevada's short-yardage back, will likely also see more carries.

"They've always been ready," Ault said. "You lose somebody, you've got to step up and make it happen. What a great opportunity for them, what a great stage. They've got some good experience. We're expecting to move it. We're expecting them to do the things they're capable of doing."

Ault said Mark would get the start.

"I'm excited," said Mark, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound speedster from Buchanan High in Fresno, Calif. "I haven't started since my senior year in high school. It's unfortunate, with the timing, but I'm ready to take care of business.

I see alot of you nerds taking SMU and the points. Well not so fast my Hot capper tailing wannabes. Nevada has 2 backs who are capable of busting for 100 and dont forgot that it is actually the QB Kaepernick who sets the ball rolling. He can rush for over 100 yard himself. Nevada has a high-powered system.

Nevada rolls against an up and coming SMU team, but fall short this year!!!!     Nevada  - Whatever!!

Unlv Rebel Report!! Kansas st. 12/12

UNLV record 1-1  ytd since making out reports!!

Well the noise heard on Las Vegas radio is the K State is the best team we will face so far this year, but The folks over on the Wildcats side are saying exactly the same thing. It will be a batlle, for sure!!  Here is a quick look at the Wildcats.......

Junior Jacob Pullen leads four players in double figures at 18.2 points per game on 39.8 percent shooting from the field to go with team bests in field goals (43), 3-point field goals (18), free throws (60), free throw percentage (81.1), assists (36) and steals (14), while backcourt mate Denis Clemente is second in scoring at 14.0 points per game on 37.2 percent shooting from the field and is second to Pullen in field goals (42), 3-point field goals (17) and assists (27).  The duo has combined for over 40 percent of the scoring (290) so far this season, while historically, they are the second-most productive (as far as combined points per game at 27.4) guard tandem since former NBA players Mike Evans and Chuckie Williams combined to average 38.9 points per game for the Wildcats between 1974-76.  Clemente recently topped the 1,000-point plateau for his career (includes his two-year stint at Miami) with a pair of free throws just over a minute into the IUPUI game on Nov. 28.  Pullen's 955 points in 76 career games ranks 24th all-time in school history, while he has scored in double figures in all nine games and a team-best 48... UNLV Report 12/5 Santa Clara!!

Well Rebels played ugly at Arizona but still managed to get the win in double OT thanks to some gritty play and never quit attitude. Coach Kruger is pleased with the winning but still cautions about needed improvement, especially shooting from beyond the arc. Unlv has shot only 25 percent and had this to say...   "I told our guys, 'We're either going to start making shots or we're going to start shooting fewer 3-pointers.' It's got to be one or the other, and they've got a couple more games to determine what that is. We can't continue that," Kruger said after Thursday's practice. This team continues to wear down opponents with pressure D and depth at guard, Kruger played 5 guards at one point towards the end of the second overtime in the Arz game. Santa Clara has played well recently and could give Rebels a good game. I do not know much about their players... Kevin Foster leads the way at 19 points per game and big man Trosilini is their best inside post man. I still believe that unless Rebels improve on the outside shooting they could find themselves in another close game!!    Santa Clara +8.5

UNLV Report 12/2 Arizona!!

Greetings to all, been very busy last couple of months. I am very excited about the passion that this new Rebel team has shown in their first 5 games. All of their games have been at home so the 5-0 record may be a bit decieving as to how good this team really is. Great win on Saturday against a sub-par Louisville team. The crowd really energized our team and they fed of the near sell-out arena. This team has many interchangable guards that are good ball handlers and streaky shooters. Willis and Bellfield lead the way along with Kentucky transfer Jasper. Ucla transfer Chase Stanback is a sleek small forward who can also play on the perimiter. This team is 10 deep but Kruger will soon play a 8-9 player rotation. The difference in this years team is the depth and intensity on defense that was lacking last year. With all that said, I believe this team is yet to be tested on the road, They are young and are prone to cold shooting spells, hence the 19 point lead they lost against the Pitinos. Defense won that game in the end. The inside game has improved from last year, but that is where they lack. Santee is back along with Massamba and both are serviceable but will struggle with big front line teams. They are both foul prone and their lack of depth inside will show at the end of games. I see that they will improve as the season progresses but will have to endure growing pains. I have been a Unlv fan for 30 years and this years team brings back faint memories of the Runnin Rebels ... [More]

Vegas Mayor Goodman- week 1

Well anyways, I was on my way to work listening to ESPN radio 3pm show. The show has various guests who give insight and picks and is hosted by LVSC, the linemakers here in Vegas. Seems as though every Tues the Mayor will be giving out his picks. Yes, He is a degenerate just like us!!!  His top picks are as follows........

Tenn +6
SD -13
NO -13

UNLV +6
USC -6

He was very insightful and seemed to be more than just a casual fan so lets see how he does!!!!

The UNDA will not happen!!!

I see the whole board is on the Unda in Fenway because both of the teams aces will be going. Well it WILL NOT happen. One of these aces is going to get rocked. The winning team will score 7 or 8 runs and the loser 2 or 3 maybe more! Remember starters rarely go more than 6 or 7 innings. I am putting 4 units on the Over 8.5  BOS-NYY!!

Tuesday parlay picks

I would like to help out the guys that love to play parlays.  I also play mostly parlays only with a twist or 2. When I parlay my teams, I start out with about 10-15 leans in all sports. I double check all my leans with what my favorite cappers are playing in all sports. I check all the factors, trends and stats and come up with 2 or 3 parlays that I like mostly 3 and 4 teams like you do. I mix em all up. I play hockey totals, Ncaa totals and NBA totals, I even make ML picks that go up to -300 high juice. Here is an example of my 4 tm winner tonight.

Lou-Gt over 133  ncaa
NY-Ind over 224 NBA
SJ ml -155 NHL
Wofford ml - 145 ncaa   Remember moneyline means just win baby!
I bet 70 dol to win  470 dol

Next thing I do is play either a 4 or 5tm teaser parlay in Basketball college and pro. Here is my winner for tonight.

Kansas +7
Charleston +7.5
Pacers + 11
N. Orleans -3.5
LAC +9
bet 70 dol to win 230 dol.

The thing is playing moneylines  totals  and teasers in all sports gives me more of a chance to win. It is hard to beat the spread in one sport because the lines are so tight. Money lines beetween -180 and -320 do not payout much, but when I parlay with a nice total or 2 the payout is better and it all adds up.  BOL

To those who DO NOT play parlays BOL to you. Live and let live I like my plays!!!!!!

UNLV Report 2/20!!

Although UNLV has shown flashes of good play this year and some good road wins in BYU and LOUIE, I would seriously consider fading this team the rest of the year. I say this cause I feel this team is not hungry enough and are ready for the recruits lined up for next year. Rebels have a big home game at BYU followed by 2 road games with conference leaders UTAH and SDST. There is a lot of pressure to win these games to get to the Big Dance. They are short handed in the middle with 6'7" Darger in the post. They may win a couple of these games if they play good defense but will not cover the ATS.
