Perspective from a Colts fan...

I think the way Caldwell handled it was awful.  He should have pulled Peyton after a drive or two if he wasn't planning on keeping him in a 5 point game in the 3rd quarter.

Also this is my biggest question, why keep him in the whole Jags game on the road if you weren't worried about going undefeated at all??  That's what I really don't get.

I don't disagree with taking the players out to stay healthy especially against a good defense who can get pressure on the QB but the way they handled it was bad.

The playoffs are a crap shoot and I'm sure this didn't change many peoples mind considering the Chargers have been awarded the AFC champs by almost everyone already..we'll just wait and see in the playoffs.

Maybe Caldwell didn't wanna have the pressure on him going undefeated into the playoffs. Who knows though.

agree with you..was strange..either play him whole game and try and stay undefeated or not at all..

It was very odd. If you were going to pull him, why even start him? I guess in the end, Jets cover, and I won big :) I love you Caldwell.

The Jets were not pressuring Manning at all. He was beating the blitz each time so I don't see how they felt he was in danger. Plus, he's never missed a game for injury in 10 years. Think he couldn't make it another 25 plays? And, yeah, I lost because they didn't cover. But, I feel bad fpr the dad that drives 200 miles round trip with his 10 year old kid to see Caldwell and Polian do something so damn stupid.

How would Don Shula have handled this with the same mindset that he had when his Dolphins team went undefeated?

What is the big deal about going undefeated and why does everyone refer to the 72 Dolphins, the Patriots (Easily the team of the decade) just had an undefeated season ( and a little longer than the heralded Dolphins run - what a joke) does anyone recall? Indy are not a superbowl team so whatever decisions are made are irrelevant in my book! Sucks to be a 10 year old kid that was made to drive two hundred miles just to see Payton Manning. LMAO

It is also going to suck for my son-in-law who is a rabid Colts fan. As a christmas present I bought him a trip to Buffalo next week to see the colts go 16-0 and that is a 7 away. Colts management doesn't seem to care much for the fans or the players even who seemed quite dejected over the decision. And if they go with their own history, they have never gone deep into the playoffs having rested the best players. Idiots.

Payton was not going to be a difference maker in that game....the Colts were beat 10 minutes in and thank god, they are an average team talked about in elite circles. thank good the run is over, I guess you can't play the bottom of the league every week.

What a pussy play by Colts management now watch Manning will get smoked first play of the playoffs and get knocked out or something and all for naught and so close to the perfect season that would stood them way above the crowd for years,F-- the Stupid Bowl they play that every year a possible perfect season should mean just as much I know it does to the fans, bling is nice but being in the History books is more.

That was effing embarrassing. He had a chance at making history and pussed out. If I was one of his players i'd be furious. That sends the wrong message to the players. They have no killer instinct and they're not making the super bowl now- chargers will beat them again.

Please someone Please, tell me what history books a writing about Manning, the Colts or a 16-0 year ... I swear to god you dumb ass colts fans may not recall but three years ago the New England Patriots went 18-0 and even if the Colts with a tremendously weak schedule, (and a win against the Pats that was all referee) had possibly got by the seasons 16 games... they won't win a game in the playoffs so 16-1 is still NOT history! Please never use Colts and history in the same sentence again - it's beginning to make me nautious! Thank you in advance.

"colts were beat 10 minutes in" ? what game were you watching TJ?... with 2 mins to go in 3rd Qtr the Awesome Jets off had atotal of 1 FG... 3 PTS. If not for 2nd half koff run back and fumble by rookie 3rd string QB,, who had not played a down all year, they might still be playing. And this is all without a running game which makes Manning that much better. How many other AVERAGE teams are 14-1?

this is a very touchy issue!! i can see both sides of the arguement. of course they want to go undefeated and break the dolphins record!! but on the other hand winning meaning-less games down the stretch don't really matter. how could you even bet a game like that knowing that the colts were going to remove there players sooner or later. to me that is a dumb bet!! the jets need the game and indy don't want to get there players hurt. rex ryan blitzes alot and i'm sure indy wanted to be cautious with manning.most of you guys are all pissed off cause you lost your bets, when you knew for a couple of weeks now this was eventually going to come. how would polian explain to the owner, yeah we had everything wrapped up and peyton dropped back to pass and someone landed on his knee and now he is out for the year? then the season is really over. keeping your players healthy is very important, thats why you barely see the stars in the pre-season!!

A COUPLE OF THINGS NO SPECIFIC ORDER--BOTTOM LINE WIN THE SUPER BOWL THATS WHAT EVERY PLAYER PLAYS FOR...I AM SICK OF PEOPLE SAYING THE OTHER PLAYERS WERE PISSED OFF MANNING CAME OUT AND THATS WHY THEY LOST...EVERY PLAYER IN THIS LEAUGE OR ANY PROFESSIONAL SPORT ARE ON THE ROSTER BECAUSE THEY ARE GREAT AT THE SPORT THEY PLAY...THE ONLY MISTAKE THIS COACH MADE AND MOST COACHES MAKE AAT ANY LEVEL IS YES SOMEONE HAS TO BE THE STARTER--BUT GAMES YOU ARE WINNING BY A NICE MARGIN PLAY A FEW BACKUPS A LITTLE AT A TIME SO THE GET THAT VAULEABLE REAL GAME EXPERIENCE WHEN THE GAME STILL HAS MEANING.---AND IF THE COACH IS NOT WILLING TO DO THAT BECAUSE HE THINKS THE BACKUPS PLAYING WITH MOST OF THE STARTERS MAY COST HIM THE GAME-----THEN TELL ME WHY THE FUCK ARE THESE PLAYERS ON THE ROSTER AND GETTING PAID....BOTTOM LINE HE'S STILL A PRO QB---BUT HE HAD A BAD GAME JUST LIKE SOME STARTING QB'S HAVE EACH WEEK.-HE HAD A BAD GAME----ANSWER ME THIS -IF HE PLAYED THE 2ND HALF AND THREW 5 TD'S--DO YOU BENCH MANNING AND START HIM THE NEXT WEEK...ANSWER NO-BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT HE GETS PAID TO COME IN DO HIS JOB AND PLAY WELL....BOTTOM LINE HE HAD A BAD GAME.

If he cared so much about them being healthy, why did he play them the whole game at Jacksonville? It basically was a slap in the face to the players and fans. It was unfair and a stupid ass move by the coach.

Now you got almost a month before the starters will play again? WAYYYY to long to wait before the playoffs. YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME CALDWELL!!!

indy is way more familiar with jacksonville then they are with the jets, bottom line!! indy very rarely plays the jets and i think they know what to expect when they play jacksonville. in my other post i said the jets are way more unpredictable and they blitz alot more. the jets defense is super aggressive and they are playing great right now. they blitz like every down and that is more of a risk to indy then playing jacksonville. we will see how this affects them either way in january.
