to hedge or not to hedge

ok long story short...or short story even shorter, its one of these

last night I play a 5 team parlay on my online account

turns out, its  80 to win 1400

I guess I was not paying attention and accidentally input Ball state ML which is the reason I ended up with the big potential payout

it was not a game I was even looking at so I have no idea how I did this........anyway

Boise State ML last night...winner

Under Hous-Temp game last night....winner

Anaheim hockey last night ML ...winner

Baylor ML at noon today...pending obviously

Ball State ML @330 today

if Baylor wins as expected,,i will know before Ball State even begins if the bet is still alive

thinking of hedging and putting 600 on Ball State opponent and making sure I get I thinking correct here?

NFC is a 2 1/2 pt favorite and the over / under is 64.5
does anyone actually bet on this game????
how would you go about handicapping this fiasco
with Warner, Fitzgerald, and Boldin all there you would have to wonder if they will play and how much effort they will use,,,especially Boldin since he wants out and no way can risk an injury even a pulled muscle

Friday taste of Tuna

Canisus -2   OVER 129
these 2 teams seem to be fairly evenly matched despite their records.....Canisus has managed to cover 5 of their last 7 games overall and in this match up----Fairfield has won 6 of the last 10 straight up while Canisus has covered 6 out of the same last 10
tonight in a tight contest,,,,I think Can -2 is safe and they win by something like  68 - 63 making the play both giving the points and the over,,,barely, but its enough to cash,,,,good luck

St John's -2 1/2

Thursday plays

Ark Little Rock -2 1/2     much better team on the road looks like a soft line but give the points here, what? you dont believe me? have I ever lied to you? not my fault the post office lost that check
always remember half the putts you leave short dont go in--think about it
UNDER Ark Little Rock @ 131 1/2  I see this game finishing at 131...thank the man upstairs you had that half point at the end
now should you live in a complex where you really do have someone living above you, when your there to thank him, smack him once for me for his lousy aim and all the times he pisses on the floor around his toilet and your inevitable soon to be caving in ceiling
Seton Hall - Rutgers take the UNDER  rutgers has been stuck on 59 of late and should be just inept enough to make this work ,,,good luck
and remember the words of John Lennon,,,"your only as old as the women you feel"

Atlanta scored 27 first half points on Monday.....even the Knicks defense can limit their offense right now,,,the Knicks have somehow managed to keep 3 of the last 4 teams coming into the Garden under 100 and I see that again tonight
Knicks + Under it is.......good luck all

quick hit of tuna

I've got an over/under lean for tonight's Delaware-George Mason matchup.
Delaware @ George Mason -    o/u 132       GM -12
I see this game as being right at the 12 pt line so the side is a no play for me, however, when it comes to the total, the more I look at these two teams and the way they have been playing of late, the more I am convinced this game will fall in the 120 -125 range
possibly something like 67 -56
UNDER for me,,,,,,,,good luck all

saturday tuna-catch of the day

FLORIDA STATE +1    simple pick,,,my daughter goes to FSU, enough said
FSU ATS away 3-1-1    UVA   ATS home 1-4
NIAGARA +8.5
Niagara should stay in this contest and keep it close the entire way maybe a final score of 77-74 in that range
DUKE -16,,,,,,as a Maryland fan and someone who does not like Duke, this pains me to say,,,,but I think the Duke defense at home will be the difference today,,,the Dukies since conf play began have not scored into the 80's but all season there defense is limiting opponents scoring,,,today, I think something like
Duke 77   Maryland 58

Buffalo - 3.5
LaSalle - 10.5

E. Wash. -3
and still leaning:    Oklahoma -13

saturday lunch special

12:00 noon game, eastern time,,,,Northeastern @ Hofstra    line right now is NE -4   these 2 teams just met at Northeastern on Jan 5.   Northeastern won that game 73 - 50 as a 7 pt favorite   here is why NE will win and cover again, this time maybe not by 23 again but I do think a minimum of 8 - 12 pts   season avg   NE    off 63.7     def   60.6 last 5 games NE    off 67.2     def  49.6   season avg Hof      off  65.8     def  66.8 last 5 games         off    56      def  67    last 5 games shooting % --   NE                                    Hof   44.9                                  29.9 51.1                                  38.6 53.8    &nb... Value on Loyola Friday night

according to the front page here at covers,,,79% are on manhattan for Friday night........I am declaring, go the other way,,,here is why.......   Loyola is 5-5 ATS on the road   ( last 6 road 4-2 ATS ) Manhattan is 2-3 ATS at home   on the season Manhattan is averaging 67. 8 pts per game "    "      "        Loyola       "        "       67. 7 pts per game   last 5 games played   Loyola has averaged 69  per game "     5     "         "        Manhattan     "         66.8  per game   defense  Loyola last 5               66 per game defense Manhattan last 5          74.8 per game   key stat for the deciding factor:   Loyola averages 78 % from the line as a team     Manhattan averages 65 % from the line as a team   if Loyola gets to the line here,,they can win this game outright !!   take Loyola + 4 1/2 ... catch of the day

on today's menu,,,,,I am offering up the following, try it and let me know what you think   LMU + 29 1/2   now I know what your thinking, your thinking maybe the mayonnaise has spoiled or this is some rotten fish....but as Lee Corso would say, "not so fast my friend"   let me explain.....on paper these two teams are as polar opposite as you can get   St Mary's  15 - 1   LMU  1 - 16   looks like a complete mismatch, and it is,,,the last two meetings between these squads both times St Marys covered this spread but I am looking deeper,,the last 10 matchups those are the only times out of the 10 games they would cover this spread   St Mary's at home over the last 10 games is 0-2 ATS ,,,their last home cover was on Nov 30.....only twice this year have they covered this spread and that was in their  first and thrid game of the season,,,vs Seattle Pacific and VanGuard.....beating up on a railroad and a trucking company does not impress me,,,,I will take the spirit of Hank Gaither and the Lions to cover here   and if you need more,,,,,,LMU has covered spreads this year already vs the following: @ Iowa State @ Notre Dame @ Ark Little Rock @ UCLA @ Pepperdine     Pepperdine is most recent and only a 2 pt loss following their one win of the season ,,,,,break up the Lions I say,,they are hot,,,ok maybe not hot , but not arctic cold any longer anyway   I think the m... tuna helper

plays for this evening
Richmond +8   not sure if the Spiders will win this one but I do think they are in it the entire contest and cover
St. Louis  - 3 1/2     I am expecting a second half run maybe mid way into the second half to put the billikens up by about 10 and then hang on the rest of the way for the cover
Wake - 3     the Demon Deac's will have more then enough to take down BC here and I think they will do so by about 7 or 8 points, more then enough to topple this spread

Saturday night into Sunday morning the area around Giants stadium is expected to receive 6- 8 " of snow and possibly even more,,,,,,game time temperature on Sunday is expected to be about 22- 25 degrees with 15 - 20 mph winds, wind chill of about 10 degrees,,,,GIANTS Weather
Jacobs running the ball and pounding Eagles d-backs will have them crying for Donovan's Mommy to bring them soup
forget the passing game, the swirling winds will take care of that,,,,,,,,,the team with the least mistakes on special teams will benefit greatly from the conditions
the conditions being, GIANTS weather

triple play for tonight

New Orleans +1,,,,,I am seeing a New Orl victory of 7 or 8 pts here
Denver -1   same thing,,,I am seeing a victory of 7 or 8 pts here
Boise State -2 1/2  following the trend, another 7 or 8 pt victory
any thoughts???

Breaking the LOCK

is it just me, or has anyone else noticed when people come on this forum and start throwing around the term LOCK, more often then not if you go against the so called lock, YOU WIN
if you love a play you think you have handicapped correctly, why not just be smart enough to write your opinion as to how you perceive the game to turn out and state your reasons,,,that will impress anyone more then calling something a lock

Wed night hoops

Delaware +5 1/2    not sure why the fightiing blue hens are getting points here but I will take it,,,I think they win this one outright
St Bonnies -3     I see the bonnies winning here by 7 or 8
Duquesne -3    looks like a 9 or 10 point win here
Duke -14   I like the dukies here by about 18 and I think you can add to that total one for every point under 30 for Steph Curry  if he is held in check--I also think Coach K's boys will lead by 11 or 12 at the half
Evansville -8   the purple aces win comfortably by a dozen or more as I expect them to lead most if not all of the 2nd half
C of Charleston +26    they will lose but I think they keep this  right around the 18-20 range

Posted Wednesday, January 07, 2009 08:48 AM

tuna helper

Duquesne -2    should cover by 5 or 6 points but should be playing in front the second half
C of Charleston +26...........UNC is struggling to cover big spreads of late and this team can score so take the points and hang on

slight helping of tuna

Tuesday plays:
Dayton -6 1/2   I am looking for Dayton to win this contest by somewhere about 12 points
Arkansas +4 1/2    this is arkansas 10th straight home game,,,you heard me,,,TEN,,,last road game was on 11/26,,,all that home cooking has to account for something especially at holiday time,,,,during this string they beat a decent team in Austin Peay and a good team in Oklahoma........I just hope they didnt get too fat and lazy,,,but at home plus the points I like the HOGS here,,,,,I think this game could come down to whoever has the rock last wins by just a point or two
I also am expecting a big game tonight from McQuale and Nate controlling the clock for Ball State,,,,and for that reason,,,,UNDER 75 is the play in the bowl game

I was sitting at the kitchen table pondering my play for the Fiesta Bowl, quietly enjoying my nutritious meal of spaghetti o's, when all of a sudden it hit me.  No, not an idea, those are few and far between.  I was struck on the head by a falling celing tile.  I was knocked loopy, ok even more loopy then usual, wait, these are not my pants, who's frigging pants are these....where was I?     And please stop interrupting me, you will cause me to lose my train of thought.  Speaking of trains, that reminds me of my exwife.  Now I'm pissed off again, I hope your happy.   So I am slumped over the table with my face now covered in sauce, and I shake my head to try and clear away the cobwebs.....and then its like a message from above,,,what do I see right in front of my face .....the letter o,,and not just once but over and over again, multiple o's.......   now I know what your thinking, there is no way in hell this nitwit would recognize multiple o's, he's never caused a woman to have even one let alone multiple ,,,,,which brings us back to that train I mentioned earlier,,who do you think was the conductor ...although I do have to wonder why the train then became a daily mode of transportation for all those guys in the neighborhood when I know damn well they all had cars.........I just realized after all these years those sob's were taking advantage of my providing them with a free ride   ...
