My big play last week Wash St +3/12 won in OT with Wash St on the foot line with 3 seconds left in regulation, I was hoping they would go for the win instead of kicking the tying FG
Lean toward Florida, as a Gator fan I am very upset the way the coaching change has worked out. i wish urban well at OSU and will root for him, but I am not happt with foley hiring another assistant coach in Muschamp , last year.He did the same thing with Zook, when spurrier left
With all the great coaches out there, like Petersen at boise, or kelly at Oregon, his first choice was muschamp. As I said when he hired Zook , I hope I am wrong, but so far Muschamp looks very flustered
A win against FSU and a bowl win, would be a big step forward

One of my
pet peeves is AD at major colleges hiring an assistant coach . Look at the last
4 coaches at Florida.
1-
Steve
Spurrier - Coached pro football, then turned a terrible program
around at Duke, then he became a legend at Florida ( Wins a national
championship )

If you told me 9 months ago that the Gators would be 4-0, and hosting Bama as only a 4 point dog, I would of said, NO WAY.
After experiencing AD Jeremy Foley hiring Ron Zook, to replace Steve Spurrier, I was shocked when he hired another assistant coach, in Will Muschamp, to replace Urban Meyer.! Well the first thing that surprised me was the hiring of Charley Weis, as OC. Then he named an old friend Dan Quinn as DC.
Weis who can do magic with QB's ( Tom Brady) has turned John Brantley around, and with his play calling the Gators are averaging over 40 a game ! The defense under Quinn and Muschamp's watchful eyes are holding teams to 9 points a game ! Brantley is no super star , but Weis is getting great production out of speedsters Rainey and Demps to average 259 yards rushing per game.
If you look at stats the Gators and bama have almost the same numbers in almost every category ! Bama scores 38.5 and allows 8 and the gators score 40 and allow 9. Bama rushes for 251 and allows 46, the gators rush for 259 and allow 57, and the QB's are rated about the same.
Bama has a tougher schedule and deserves to be a 4-5 point favorite, even with the game in The Swamp. . As a Gator fan I will just watch this game !
Official lines come out soon, but I have strong leans on USF -1 1/2 or 2 at Pitt and Baylor -4 going to Kansas St, a place where they don't fare well, but I love the numbers Griffin is putting up. I also see some good value in... [More]

15-8 YTD + 1-0 on 3 unit play LSU
NC St + 7 1/2 Thurs
I see this as a toss up game with 2 very even , good QB
Most are on Cinci but their big stats are built up against 2 very bad teams
Both teams could put up 30, so i will go with the value and take the 71/2

The Gators
usually open the season with 2 cupcakes (exception 2008 Miami,Fl )So you say
what is the big deal with beating FAU and UAB by a combined 80-3. Well
the deal is that when the gators hold the first 2 teams to real low scoring
numbers, they have had a banner year ! In 2006 they opened 76-7 went 13-1 and
won the BCS National championship. Likewise in 2008, opened 79-13 went 13-1 and
also were national champs ! In 2009 the... [More]

Mia O +3 (bought 1/2 pt ) I have bet this before and can't understand the line move toward M Tenn
Dasher is a very erratic QB with only 6 TD and 14 INT
M Tenn only 6-6 in a weak Sun Belt conf
Back up QB Boucher has played well in the last 3 games and adds running power
Mia has a very good run defense that should force Dasher to throw
I see this game like N Ill wrong team is favored

There are strong rumors that Charley Weis will be the OC . Muschamp has received pernission from KC to talk to him
Indications are that Weis will accept
This has been reported on CBS and on ESPN by Chris Mortensen
This was a real weakness this year as Steve Addazio has no flair for calling plays
Muschamp wants ti run a pro style offense which is good news to QB John Brantley. It will be interesting how top QB Jeff Driskel will react !

Air Force -21/2
Bowl picks 1-1
Pro 1-0 ( KC -3 hook)
Today rookie Tim Tebow in his 2nd start led the Broncos to victory in Elway esque fashion
Trailing 17-0 at half Tebow led the Brocos on 4 scoring drives culminating in a 6 yard scramble for the winning TD that erased a 23-17 Texans lead.
The team ralied behind Tebow's leadership and never say die attitude. He finished with 308 yards passing and another 27 rushing. 2TD ( 1 pass 1 run )
I hope this ends the naysayers who think Tebow cannot play at this level
I welcome comments by my fellow cappers

Jeremy Foley told me 10 years ago, in an EM, when he hired Ron Zook, " He is a great recruiter " well that's what they are saying about Muschamp.
Urban Meyer spent 10 years as an assistant, then worked his way up with 2 years at bowling green, 2 years at Utah and then got the big job at Florida
Baseball hardly ever does this, you start out in the minors and work your way up
Ron Zook, Randy Shannon, Charley Weis, great assistant coaches that failed miserable as head coaches. Just because you are a good assistant doesn't mean you will be a good HEAD coach
As I said about Zook , "I hope I am wrong"
You don't give an assistant one of the top jobs in college football
Like to hear from some gator fans

1- Chip Kelly - Oregon timing maybe off this year as Ducks don't play until Jan 11
2-Gary Patterson -TCU has built a very nice program
3-Bob Stoops - OKLA coached at Florida , turned down job 6 years ago, a proven winner
4-Jim Harbaugh- Stanford great young coach
5- Chris Peterson- Boise winning 90%
6-Larry Kehres Mt Union great track record I know he won't be hired, but I think he is a great coach
7-Dan Mullen - Miss st long time assistant under Meyer , very good with QB
Any other choices out there?

With Matt McGloin as the Penn st QB I see a big scoring game. In his 2 games the totals have been an average of 67.
I see this game going way over the 49 total
Penn St /Ohio st OVER 49

1- Toledo +11 ( 1 unit)
2-Toledo OVER 20 ( 1/2 unit)
3 Toledo ML +350 ( 1/10 unit)
I feel TO (Terrance Owens ) off his showing last week coming off the bench and throwing 4 TD 0 INT makes +11 look like a play
In the last 3 games Toledo has ave 36
Good young coach in Tim Beckman who has turned the program around
Toledo always plays M ILL

I went to Temple and also root for Florida and Penn St
It has taken 10 weeks for Joe Pa to find out that McGloin is his best QB. Even after he outplayed Robinson of Michigan, he went back to Bolden against Northwestern. They fell behind 21-0 and then he finally went to Mcgloin, who rallied them to a 35-21 win
Speaking of Michigan, in the fall D Robinson was #2 or #3 in the depth charts
Temple is lighting it up with Gerardi
The Gators are turning it around by using Burton and Reed, because Brantley doesn't fit in the spread option offense. If Meyer used Tebow with Leak in 2006 they would of put up 40+ a game instead of 28
That said I am taking Toledo +11 with TO at QB (Terrance Owens) He has a QB rating of 180 and has thrown 5 TD 0 INT after Dantin got hurt
I don't understand why these high paid coaches can't figure the QB situation out, yhank goodness Andy Reid was persuaded to use Michael Vick !!
Toledo plus 11 with the back up QB

Fot years I had trouble in my golf game , with my long and medium irons. I had a gap of 20-30 yards and didn't have a comfortable club to hit. Then they came out with HYBRID clubs and I used them to replace my 4, 5 and 6 IRONS. This helped my game improve, and with a 5 wood I no longer have a gap, between 135-155 yards !
Urban Meyer had the same problem with his offense. How to replace Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin. John Brantley is a pocket passer and didn't quite fit in Meyer's sprad option offense. So against Georgia he used Burton and Rainey, Demps and Brantley, plus Reed and Presto, he had a HYBRID offense.
He used Brantley , Burton and Reed at QB and Demps, Rainey and Burton as runners and receivers.! Burton, Rainey and Demps ran 42 times for 232 yards and 4 TD. Brantley and Burton completed 18-27 for 219 and Burton caught 5 passes for 35 yards..Rainey ran back KO for over 200 tards.
Burton accounted for 171 yards, running, passing and receiving.in an exciting 34-31 overtime win over Georgia
This is how Meyer's HYBRID offense turned the offense around., basically using 6 players to replace Tebow and Harvin !!
Pocks to follow

A- Addazio Offensive line coach , not doing a good job. Also is OC and calls plays , has no imagination
B- Brantley pocket passer in a spread option offense, can't run, with QB rating of 118
C- Cam Newton QB left because Tebow came back in 2009, plus other issues leading Auburn to #1 early Heisman leader
D- Denard Robinson great QB prospect in 2009 went to Michigan
Defense is allowing 19 a game and 24 away miss Charlie Strong
Meyer is great with a bye week. Rainey will play. Demps has an extra week to heal. Rebounding Georgia in the coctail party. Lets see if Gators can bounce back
Anyone with an idea?

Last week I posted why I liked Okla st getting 3 at TT
I have already capped the Nebraska game taking the Okies +6 at home
Martinez was beaten up by the Longhorns. Okies should key on his running and make him pass
Okla st +6 this line will probably drop

Thurs Okla st -3
First away game for A&M and Weeden #2 rated QB in the country
Florida struggled for the first 3 games on offense. last week against Ky they put in Trey Burton, deep in the red zone. he ran 5 times and scored 5 times. He also caught a TD pass for #6.
Then they put him at QB and his one pass was good for 42 yards. 11 touches and 6 TD. He is the option QB that the gators need as Brantley is a pocket passer.
With the Gators on the road at Bama they will need his style of play especially if demps is hurt.
This is the second coming of Tebow
