Being a Phils fan I hear on the various news outlets taht Halladay is in town talking contract with the GM. That being said I think I would rather resign Cliff Lee or best scenario try and unload Hamels and keep Lee and get Halladay.I know that is wishful thinking but its a tough call Lee or Halladay. I am assuming that contract talks with Lee went nowhere hence this move is being considered.Am hoping that we somehow keep Lee and if we do its see the AL next year in the WS again.

His name is Roy Halladay, and he's well worth the price of admission.

I think you'll be fine with either.

Don't lose too much sleep over losing Lee, Halladay will do plenty more than fill his spot in the rotation. Halladay is arguably the best pitcher in baseball since the 2002 season and I'm definitely looking forward to see what he can do with a team that not only wins games but is a contender to win it all.

from a standpoint of the organization for the long run getting rid of lee and getting halladay is a great move. Phils fans such as myself fell in love with lee because of how he pitched in the playoffs. But if we kept lee for the year remaining on his contract there is no guarentee he is coming back the year after. He would test the market. Now making this deal you lock up a cy young winning pitcher for 3 years as oppose to one. Plus Halladay has faced the red soxs and yankees a ton which will come in handy in the WS if they phils make it back this year. The real question for the phils is do you want a great pitcher for one year or three? Pretty simple answer. Plus you cant keep both the payroll would be entirely to high.

Bottom line is they could have kept both, they put a self imposed limit on their cap at 140 million, they werent going over that, all it would have cost them to keep Lee is 9 million, they sell out every friggin game, ratings, merchandise everything through the roof, people keep saying they couldnt have kept both when they could have and then virtually have already wrapped up the world series, i dont care what anyone says halladay lee and hamels, best rotation ever.....with that being said, if I have to choose its halladay, phills need a right hander to balance out the rotation and halladay can go on short rest and Lee cant...if he could we might be talking about a 3-peat

I live in Toronto, and witnessed the excellence that is Roy Halladay for his entire career. There is no arguing, Roy Halladay is the best pitcher in the majors. Look at his numbers since '03, wins, complete games, strike/walk ratio, ERA, quite simply there off the charts, and he carved out those numbers pitching in the toughest division in baseball. Do not lose sleep Phillie fans, you got a true horse, and a innings eating machine. Roy will feast on National League hitters, trust me. If Halladay doesn't win at least 20 games next season(barring injury), i'd be shocked.

Lee was already talking about testing the market when his contract was up, with a few good teams needing pitchers i think someone else would of gave him an offer he couldn't refuse. When it comes down to it Roy is a great pitcher. I'm a phillies fac, and I don't know if anybody remembers or not but we needed a right handed pitcher during the playoffs and didn't have one. I liked Lee a lot tho

Since 2002, Halladay is the best pitcher in the majors! and he did that in the hardest division in baseball.

Man after watching Cliff Lee in these playoffs 3-0 already .I will say that I would take him over anybody right now. In the case of the signing though I have to assume taht the Phils would not have been able to sign him to an extension that works for both sides. But he just locked up the NYY like it was taking candy from a baby.
