How many majors will Tiger win?

Obviously Tiger just dosen't have the eye of the Tiger anymore.  Its like Jack Niclaus said that Tiger will be very dominant until he becomes married and has a family and then his priorities will change and i think they have.  Sure he has won a couple of tournaments this year but look at the field in those tournaments compared to Majors.  I really think his one and only goal now is to surpass Jack with 19 Majors and you will see him drop off completely.  I mean the man has a beautiful wife and daughter so far and probably will have more children and what does he have close to a billion dollars.  I think he may surpass Jack in Majors but it may take him at least five more years giving him one a year over the next five.  But there are a lot of hungry younger golfers out there who also want the notch in their belt to say they have won the Majors also.   I might be wrong but he just dosen't seem to be the same dominant golfer he once was.  Jack said his best years were between 32-35 and Tiger is 33.  I personally think it would be great for golf for Tiger to set a new Majors record.   Records are made to be broken and i really hope he surpasses Jack.

Provided that he remains healthy and plays 4 majors a year for the next 10-15 years......I think he'll win another 10 majors, give or take 2 either way......so in the 8-12 range.

Personally, I think Tiger is playing a more consistent game now than he ever has. The only concern I would have is if he loses some focus after he gets to 19 majors. I think the major record will keep him very focused and motivated until he passes Nicklaus.

I'm not a big Tiger lover and I really hate his club-slamming antics......but he is clearly the best player out there and not only is he the best player, he is the best grinder as well. The guy is incredible.

Interesting how that word focus comes up because we all know he is absolutely the best golfer of all time but without focus and his deep concentration he is not the same Tiger, and only time will tell how many Majors he wins.  I think he still surpasses Jack.

Did you take time to read all the posts in here.  Nobody said he wouldn't beat (not smash) Jacks record of 18 Majors the thread is about how many will he win.  So if you think he is going to smash his record what do you think he will win 55 or so.

To date he has given nobody any reason to question his focus and determination as he moves forward. Hypothetically he could lose focus at some point but he hasn't shown any sign of that being inevitable.

Tigers missing the cut in the British Open today is just another sign that he does not have the game or the eye of the Tiger that he once had.  Is he still the best player in the world absolutely but this is another small sign of his lack of concentration he once had.  Sure he won his own tournament a couple of weeks ago but that was a regular PGA event not a major.  I think he will win his share of tournaments but when it comes to majors to many players get up for them and there are a lot of young guns like i said who also want these majors.  He probably will break Jacks record but he is going to have to work hard to do it, it will not be a cake walk that everyone is thinking.

His record in majors where he has not played the course before was 4-21 coming in. He has "struggled" in this scenario his whole career. This wasn't something new. Also, golf is hard. Sometimes people miss cuts.....

I still believe he will win between 8-12 majors the rest of his career.

I just hope Watson gets # 9 on Sunday

0-3 in Majors since knee surgery

Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Vijay Singh, Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia and Jim Furyk are 0 for majors since Tiger's surgery as well

I'm just havin' fun AJ but I'm not going to read too much into it yet. He will have years where he doesn't win any and years where he wins a couple......he's going to win more though. Too damn good not to.

Tom Watson.  But Tiger will be hard pressed to win 5 more majors.

I agree, he will win more. No doubt about it

Somebody brought this up in another thread....that talking about this subject is tired.....if you really look at it has he been dominant since 2000? I mean that dominant? no he hasn't, he hasn't smoked a field in a major since 2000 pebble, although he has won mulitple majors in 3 yrs since then, 02,05,06........I'll stand by my same argument to this take, hes a year off of major fucking knee surgery, for me and you we wouldn't be able to walk an executive course and tear it up after what he went through a year later....to say he isnt as dominant is something that could of been said in 2003,04 during swing changes and he came back.....I'll agree with you if by 2015 he doesnt have over 20 majors until then you'll look like your right til he wins his next one and next year the o/u on Tiger's majors is 2 IMO and I say it will push....I had a feeling even if he had a top 5 this post would of made its way back but thats cool I suppose I'll be bringing it back when he wins his next major.......I never thought it would be a cakewalk but I know for a fact if he's on his game like at memorial or at&t nobody will beat him whether its a major or not and I think your saying he's not on as much anymore and thats fair enough, to me TW hasn't come close to the year he had in 2000, which was unbelievable obviously, and the talent on tour has increased since then I do agree with you, but the "young guns" on this LB are watson and calc, marino, goosen, vj, not exactly youngsters.........I know you said you thought he would still break his record but my whole point is the last 5 yrs even when he's won majors they haven't been dominant performances, maybe the britsh opens he won you could argue but not as it was back in 2000....

I think a better question is if he gets skunked this year in majors and I believe he might will it be because of his knee and coming back off it or his swing and will he change it again and dump haney?????

Dang boys back to this topic maybe his old lady will console him  now that is a consolation worth having. Don't fret the Tiger's not done stalking yet.

I dont think so either, he created all these expectations which brings up all the questions.... the more compelling question is if Tiger will change anything, his swing the last 2 days was completely jacked up and he's not afraid to change things....

He may not be done stalking as far as ordinary PGA events are concerned but here is the difference.  Tiger has close to  940,000,000 million dollars in career earnings be it tournaments, endorsements, etc. etc. a beautiful wife and family so do you think his focus might be getting a little less.  ABSOLUTLEY.   The purses in these events are so high that no one really challenges Tiger because they all make a half decent paycheque  whether they finish second, third, or even 60th.  Now when it comes to majors there isn't a pro that wouldn't  say the hell  with the paycheque give me the title they all want to say they are the Masters champion, the U. S. Open champion, the British Open champion or the P.G.A. of America champion and the paycheque is just a bonus.  They all step up there game 10 fold to win a major and the field is also 10 fold compared  to all regular pga events with like i said a bunch of young guns just like Tiger was 12 or 13 years ago.  Tiger has become just another player in this mix.   Like i said he may break Jacks record but he is going to have to step his game up  in these majors.

Today is just another reason why Tiger will have trouble breaking Jack's record.  Will he still do it probably but Majors like i have said are a different game than regular events and Tiger just isn't the same Tiger and he will struggle to beat Jack's record.  I sure didn't see any spectacular 182 yd 8 iron today.  And to be taken down by the 130th rank player in the world well enough said.

I'm shocked. Thought Tiger was the easiest $$$ I ever made at the start of the day.

He's human I guess....for me this is more of an example of how hard this game is and how you can't have it all the time, sometimes the putts just dont fall even for woods....a bigger shock is this post getting bumped...yeah...wow.....I'll stick to my last response the last time this bullshit came up....100 wins 20-25 majors etc etc......since 05 TW's major wins have all been fairly close give or take 1 maybe 2, even a couple of playoffs, so master of the obvious here should of posted this opinion 4 yrs ago........Im still saying he'll be at 16 majors by this time next year.....Im also saying we'll see this thread again if TW doesn't win the Masters....

LMAO...  "Taken down by the 130th ranked player in the world enough said".... You mean the same player that BEAT the rest of the best players in the world by FIVE SHOTS !!!..... Trouble breaking Jacks record ... ..... He will not break it he will shatter it.. When Tiger is done he will have set records that will stand long after you and I have left this world.. He is light years ahead of Jacks pace in total wins and major wins at his present age.. People forget how young he is in the world of golf.. To illustrate lets compare VJ to Tiger.. VJ is now in the twilight of his golf life but over the last 20 years he would be on EVERY  list of best 5 golfers in the game in the last 20 years.. Hell he has 43 wins over that period..  Tiger at his present pace of tournaments per year would need to play for 12 years to reach VJ,s tournament starts.. WELL.. if Tiger plays the next 12 years and does not win ONE tourney or even finish in the top ten in that 12 year period.. He would have TWENTY SEVEN  more wins and the same amount of top ten finishes on  his golf rresume as VJ...... You are blessed to be watching a golfer that will set Joltin Joe like records that probably will never be broken.. Book it dano.. !!

Shatter it.    Do you even watch Major golf championships.

I'm with you bro, if he gets 25 majors in my mind thats shattering Jack's record, 21-22 not so much....but to beat a record by 7 majors would be pretty impressive...and lets not forget Jack came in 2nd 19 times, I'm sure there were a few in there he pissed away and he's admitted it before..

I dont buy the competition argument in the 70's compared to now as well...put phil, vj, ernie, paddy and some others in the 70's and they might even have more than the 3 they have, again thats all speculation and opinion so whatever.....I'm sure Jack heard the same BS when he was piling up majors how so and so was better.... and he shattered the previous record which is what...eleven i think by Hagen? yeah I'd say he shattered it...and I do watch major golf tournements and have for over 20 yrs and think that a guy that has won 14 majors in 13yrs of professional golf is one hell of a golfer and because his putter went cold for 1 afternoon on the sunday of the PGA doesn't mean his game is in decline....let the debate continue............................................
