I still remember growing up watching Conners & McEnroe. As I got older it was Agassi & Sampras. I watched with excitement as American tennis players actually won Wimbledon. Andy Roddick, in his 11 years as a pro, has never won at wimbledon but has been a runner-up 3 times since 2004. I still watch when Roddick plays at Wimbledon, hoping that he will be the one that can get to the finals once again. John Isner has been knocked out of the second round back to back years now. Will Mardy Fish save us this year? Will he be the one to finally make it to the finals? We will see. The last time an American won at Wimbledon was in 2000, when Sampras was so dominant. Why is it that Roddick gets knocked out of contention this year, in the third round by Feliciano Lopez? Lopez who is ranked 44th. Will Americans ever have another dominant tennis player again? I truly hope so. Will we ever see a great matchup of american tennis players, who compete at the level of a Conners-McEnroe or Agassi-Sampras? I personally would like to see Roddick-Isner every year at Wimbledon rather than Federer-Nadal.
