Is Baron Davis the most unmotivated player or just a douche?

Man is making a boatload of money but is ready to play 10 of the 82 games of the year?

Missing lay-ups in the last minute of a close game, not showing up to play the Nets and follow that by losing to the TimberPups by double digits

Players like him are the only reason I don't like Basketball as much as I use to. When I was young and use to watch bball they were professionals that brought it everynight but now this new breed of bitchmade athletes who blame all their problems on others is sickening.

Baron is the worst example for me because when motivated you know what he's capable of but the series against Dallas was years ago and he hasn't found a reason since to play

If you have any players of this mold please feel free to post their crappy names in this thread...

I'd be surprised to find a worst perpetrator than Baron Davis as far as talent that never lives up to it's potential in the least bit

Yeah, both Baron and Marbury.

When interested in a game, they both were top 10 talents.

Baron isn't interested in a game nowadays unless it's the Lakers.

He's a pile of shit. Kept telling the Warriors he wanted 5 years. Yeah, with his track record, he deserves it. Over/Under is ALWAYS set at 63 games a year.

I am so glad Brand and Magette left after Baron signed. It's like they knew what a screaming douchebag this guy was, and wanted to leave.

Throws up 3s at the worst time, won't play D................just an asshole

Not even the same brother and a weak argument if a doctor or lawyer are wrong about a number of things they will not only lose their job but might go to jail let alone be held financially at risk. If we don't do our jobs were fired or immediately reprimanded. Mailman misses his rout it's somebody else tomorrow, etc.

You are really not comparing 40-hour Joe to 32-minute 3 nights a week Ego Athlete? Please tell me you are smarter than that. SLACK IN PRACTICE!!!!!!!!!!! You take the stage for 36 god dam minutes a night, 3-4 days a week for 82 games, or 6 months a year. You seriously need your head examined if you feel an athlete should be allowed to slack cuz hey its there job and everyone slacks, god help us with opinions like that. Go write Baron Davis Fan Club and tell him it is okay that he fixes games and gets away with it. Half these clowns in the NBA are no better than Donaghy.

And if my boss wanted to pay me that much, and I have a fg% of 40%. Ummm.... He has only shown up for work 3 years out of his last 10 of employment!! Just so happened to be he worked the 2 years prior to becoming a free agent!!

I disagree Stephen Jackson has turned the Bobcats into a halfway descent team. This thread was suppose to be about the players that don't put forth effort. Some of you have turned this thread into players who embrace thuggery.

I live in NY and there were a couple of players named in this thread that I agree are worthless. That would be Stephon Marbury, who once stated that he was the BEST point guard  in the NBA  and Eddie Curry who was advised to lower his weight and came to camp FATTER than the previous season .

However I think people are wrong when mentioning Chris Duhon and Tracy McGrady. Some players can play on the next level and some just hit the ceiling. Chris Duhon was a high school player of the year, All American at Duke and he just has not progressed into the FULL TIME player the Knicks thought he would be. Maybe he's a back up and would be more effective in that role but the Knicks needed a starter to run D'Antoni's system and he didn't have the stamina. By game 50 last year he was out of gas and this year has been the same. All I can say is that he has not been a distruption on the "Bricks" and that is a miracle.

As for Tracy McGrady, boy does everyone have a short memory. Look at these stats:

2001  26.8

2002  25.6

2003  32.1

2004  28.0

2005  25.7

2006  24.4

2007  24.6

2008  21.6

Now do those #'s look like someone who doesn't give a sh*t?? He's playing hurt people!! He could have just taken the money and sat his ass down like a TON of current players but he's trying to come back whether it's for another contract or not. He's a basketball player and that's what he knows!! All of you whom are pissed because he's making 23 million, get over it!! When an actor or actress make a shitty movie do you want to crucify them?? As fans, we created this modern day monster by worshipping the players, paying whatever the ticket prices are, and buying jerseys upon jerseys with a new name on the back of our latest signing. Just a quick note, a friend of mine is a writer for a newspaper here in NY. He covers the Knicks and was talking with the LA Clippers lead scout in town for the game. He stated that Baron has been nothing but a disgrace, as a player, for the organization and that they can't wait till his contract is over. If they had known how good Eric Gordon was going to be they, never would have signed Baron. They should have stuck to their business plan, which for lack of a better word, "suited" their needs. Let the vets go, do not sign any big time free agents, play the rookies and stay in the positive on the ledger. I wish the Knicks would have done that.

Tracy McGrady has ALWAYS been soft, NEVER has been a leader, and RARELY if ever took his team to the next level.  Great talent and decent stats, but overall a BUST based on his potential.

McGrady is a horrible fit in New York, since he cannot lead anything.  He would have been a nice fit in Utah as a role player, but he selfishly wanted the spotlight like he always does.

wizardofroz says:
02/23/10 02:58AM

I agree with the assessment of Baron Davis being an unmotivated, lazy douche for the most part.  Another one is Eddy Curry.

And Tracy McGrady is one of the biggest wastes of talent.  Insanely skilled, regularly hurt, and has little heart.

Man does this player and team really suck as bad as they look every single night?

IT IS SHAMEFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But this will open up doors for less maximum years in contracts or being able to break contracts for more reasons (crimes, performance, etc.) but we will see next summer.

Next August there might be a lockout in NFL & NBA

Kobe Bryant

Man takes off more minutes then 99% of the league

this is a comical statement

Few are professional and the only one who's great and brings it no matter what is Lebron James

I totally agree about this being related to the age and desire of young players not being there

But I could care less I'm not asking for every minute to be played at 150% but don't bs me and say that 99% of the league does what Baron Davis does he could be a top 5 guard in the league but gives 5% effort and waste all his god given talent he is a fucking disgrace

NaMe_In_LiGhTs says:

playing basketball is not being a Dr., lawyer or airline pilot.(ah ah don't say drunk!)

It's entertainment. Sports entertainment. There's  places to hide on the ball diamond or in soccer and football but in basketball, lack of effort stands out.

All of our society is lapsing into a entitlement mentality these days. ergo: I have talent so I'm entitled to this money.

nil

But back to Baron....

Let's put it this way. Last night, Baron & Kaman combined had more turnovers than points.

Great time to fade the Clips.

Islandstyle says:
02/17/10 01:19PM

Its sad to see him just waste his talent away in Clipper hell, but no one put a gun to his head and made him sign the contract...He thought coming to LA that he would be teaming up with EB. but we all know what he did and Baron should have followed suite...I know no one likes to renig on a deal but its the freaking Clippers no one would have thought less of him if he backed out....Its something about that Clipper locker room that is cursed...Look out Kaman you could be next!

This competition is the biggest mystery in man kind

Handsdown says:

The subject you bring up about Baron Davis could go for about 99% of the NBA.  Most of the players in the league don't start caring about games until the playoffs start.  It's been trending that way for a long time now.  Younger generations just don't have the work ethic of older generations for the most part.  Plus guys that were great in high school and college never had to work hard for it because they were so talented. In the NBA you have to work hard everyday to be one of those top players and only a handful of guys like Kobe Bryant are willing to do it.

baron davis is one of the main reasons my beloved Warriors were able to win a playoff series for the 1st time in over a decade.

hotshots23 says:

he did play like a beast in that series, then he got paid by a shitty team.  THATS WHY THE LEAGUE WOULD BE SO MUCH BETTER IF THEY GOT PAID BY MORE INCENTIVES.
Mikado says:
03/27/10 01:34PM
Funny we never heard Gilbert Arenas mentioned among these players. Even when he does play - he decides on how much energy he puts into the game. He could be a great player, but his attitude brings him down a level or two - not to mention that whole man with the golden gun incident.
chuckyholmes69 says:
02/23/10 03:15AM
he is absolutely right. its the damm clipjoint organization. baron was really good when he was at golden state, but it seems his first few years he was out to prove he was worth a big contract and eventually showed off during his contract year to get the big free agent money. that could be said of so many other players out there as well though. fucking erica dampeer hardly even plays and collects a big check every night. some guys just stop playing after they get paid the big bucks, the jury is still in with baron though cause the clippers just historically suck.
ParlayDante says:

I have to disagree.   Been to alot of Bobcats games and Stephen has only helped.  Baron Davis is the Jake Delhomme of the NBA.
