I generally hate betting on over's but since the NBA has recently been in quite the scoring rut lately there will start to be over bet's that are going to hold value. Especially regarding teams that play bad defense such as tonight's game between the Rockets whom are allowing 98.6ppg & 46.4% FG & the Wizards whom are allowing 96.8ppg & 44.9% FG. With the Rockets allowing the 27th leagues worst defense in regards to FG % thtotal on this game has been set low based on one thing. The public perception on the Wizards offense which currently ranks last in the NBA @ 84,6ppg. Saints @ 49ers under 47 for 50 units... Don't hear many people talking about the total much. Which is exactly where I see the value with the Saints on the road vs the 49ers . Did you know that 12 of the Saints 17 football games this year were played against the NFL's 19th ranked or worse defenses. Only 2 times all season did the Saints face off vs a top 10 defense ( week#3 at home vs Texans & week 4 @ Jaguars). Wednesday Iv'e been burning my money on NBA plays:
Celtic's -5.5 for 20 units... The Mavs are currently 1-3su & 2-2ats in the roll as a dog so far this season. In the 5 games they have already lost they have done so by an average of margin of defeat of 14.8ppg. That combined with a 1-3 road record spells bad news IMO as Mark Cuban didn't do too much about keeping a winning team together. I really think the Mavs are going to regret letting little JJ Barea go as they are now giving extensive minutes to Delonte West(Shooting a career low 18% 3 pointers) & Vince Carter (Shooting a career low 38%fg). Not exactly what you want to see with Rajon Rondo currently on cloud nine as he is shooting a career high from the field at 52.3% & Ray Allen also currently in one of his hottest stretches as he is currently stroking it from the field at 57.5% and 63.4% from 3 point land. Anyone who has been watching the NFL this season and keeping a close eye on the Detroit Lions will know that Detroit struggles came during a stretch when Stafford was playing through an injury to his throwing hand as he was wearing a glove. During that injury he was missing all kind's of throws. The other downfall on the Lion's season (from my eyes) has been their inability to block pass rusher's as the Lions OL has allowed their QB to be sacked 36 times this season. Tonight's action is on:
Detroit +10 for 20 units... Both Brandon Knight & Austin Daye will be starting in place of Rodney Stuckey (groin injury) & Ben Gordon (personal). I couldn't find the personal reason anywhere to as why Gordon is out but that's not important to myself regarding wagering on this game. What is important is that these 2 players are out. Why is that you ask? Today's action is :
Pittsburgh@Depaul under 146 for 20 units... Pittsburgh's offense has been pitiful in their last 3 outings shooting 39% vs Wagner in a loss @ home, 40% in a loss @ Notre Dame & 41% in a loss at home to Cincinnati. If you didn't have any questions about their offense before this 3 game slide you should most definitely have some now. Although Depaul has not fared rather well on defense I believe combining Pitt's inability to score recently at a consistent level with their ability to actually play solid defense helps this game stay under the total. Depaul has just 2 wins over D-1 teams with winning records (Texas Tech & Cal Poly), as their success on offense very well may be fools gold in relation to numbers. That's were I like Pitt's defense and ability to slow things down a bot to step in. Rockets @ Lakers over 191 for 20 units.... This Rockets team allowed teams to shoot 46.8% from the field last season while shooting 45.4% from the field on offense. During that tenure they had just 11 games with totals set below the number of 200 last season. So that means 87% of the Rockets games last season (home & away) had totals set higher than 200 or more which was in direct relation to their their inability to play defense while scoring 105.9ppg (2nd overall). So far the Rockets have opened up this season right were they left off from last season as they are already allowing opponents to shoot 47.3% from the field.
