Well, seeing as this is my first time posting in awhile, to talk about the upcoming season etc... I wanted to post a thread I've been wanting to discuss.
Kevin Kolb(eagles) vs. Matt Moore (panthers)
Basically here is what the mainstream media (and thus most peoples opinion) says:
"Kevin Kolb is gonna be great, no question philly will continue success under him blah blah"
"The Panthers are gonna be one of the worst teams this year, sure they have Williams and Stewart, but what good is that if they have crappy QB Matt Moore blah blah"
Seriously, several times this offseason, I've watched NFL network etc.. and heard guys like Jamie Dukes (yuck) praise the hell out of Kevin Kolb, but Matt Moore and his stellar NFL career thus far is not only never mentioned, but any mention of Moore or Carolina is met with ultra grim outlooks etc...
Did no one see the last 4 or 5 games in the NFL last season? Where Matt Moore had the 2nd highest QB rating in the league, while throwing 8tds to 1 pick? During this time going 4-1 and beating the likes of the Giants and Vikings while both had much to play for still (I know you can't count the game they beat the saints)
I'm a huge panther fan, and immediately throughout this stretch noticed that Moore was doing things Jake could not, like throwing a deep TD of 40+ yards every game, and spreading the ball around quite a bit more than Jake has recently etc... As a panther fan, I know for sure Jake was holding us back, and Moore is a much much better option at this point.
Lastly, Its not like last year was the first time Moore saw the field, in 2007 I believe it was, he was called on for 3 starts, and went 2-1, with the only loss being to Dallas who was very potent in '07, Moore and the Panthers came damn close to beating them.
Kolb on the other hand, had what 2 starts? and is what 1-1? I remember watching him vs the Saints a lot of his numbers from that game are a result of Saints playing prevent type coverages etc.. knowing that they could match each score etc... and the other start was vs. KC I believe. I'm sorry to KC fans but KC games don't even count as far as judging a player etc... I remember in 08 Jake lead the panthers to a 34-0 win, and threw 4 picks to the raiders that same season.
Well, sorry this is so long, but I think its a very worth discussion, if anything Kolb is the guy who is unproven and a huge question mark, and Moore is the guy that could breakout this year. Lastly, with a much better QB than Delhomme has been, that running game and OL, and also one of the best Pass D's in the league (2nd last year I believe) Remember to not sleep on Matt Moore or the Panthers, (still taking a wait and see on pass rush and run D, that will be what determines the Panthers, not Matt Moore)
