QUESTION for everyone on the Vikings bandwagon...

No doubt they played an AWESOME game vs Dallas in every aspect. But with that being said, are we now going to look at that game and completely dismiss their recent road struggles? They have been great at home ALL YEAR, but let's look at their last 3 road games....

December 28 @ Chicago LOST 36-30
-A game they were lucky to be in. They were dominated pretty much all game and forced OT with a late comeback.

December 20 @ Carolina LOST 26-7
-Not much to say about this game. Played awful against a bad Carolina team.

December 6 @ Arizona LOST 30-17
-See above games

I understand Minnesota can cause matchup problems for the Saints IF they play their A-game, but based on their road struggles that is a BIG if. I am not saying the Vikes have no chance to win the game. They ABSOLUTELY can win, but I am very curious though for all the guys on the Vikes...

What makes you think they will all of a sudden light it up on the road vs the completely healthy Saints?

The Saints

have given up over 20 points a game at home.  And there are some shitty teams that have come

in and put up some points on them, Detroit, Atlanta, the Giants, these

games were early in the year, so you can’t point the finger at injuries.  what makes you think MN won’t put up 20+?  I’m on MN +4.5 because I think MN’s D is very capable

of holding the Saints to under 30 points and even if the Saints do score 30, I’m

still confident MN is within a FG.

i dont see how this is a terrible match up for the saints.  i think this is going to be a great match up.  i think this is going to be a great game.  not one sided at all.  if you really think 1 team rolls the other then you are crazy.  this game is 2nd this sunday for a reason.  they know this game is going to be great.  may be better than the superbowl.

just as you see that the vikes win, i see the saints winning.  its hard for me to see them losing this game based on anything you come up with.  this is a evenly matched game. both sides have minor holes in it.  both teams are playing like they never have before.  the only difference to me is that when the saints played bad.... it was cuz we were bad.  injuries were a big part of it. especially in our secondary.  but when the vikes played bad, they were a healthy team playing bad.

vikes have a few interesting situations that may arise before the game with injuries and if they do....  thats where we will pounce.  if they show up healthy, then may the better team that day win.

I will gladly take the time out to answer your question...

The Saints team that you saw in those last 3 games isn't even CLOSE to the same team you will see on the field come Sunday. Over the course of the 3 games you are referring to, the following players were banged up...

-Bush
-Shockey
-Ellis
-Fujita
-Greer
-Shanle
-Thomas
-Moore

Every single one of those guys are key contributors and ALL of them (like last week) will be on the field come Sunday. I would love to see if you could show me a team that could over come all those injuries down the stretch, without losing a beat.

Can you tell us how many points the Saints scored on each one of those teams

i guess the next thing your going to say is that if they dont put points on the board they arent going to win.

Thanks JOHN MADDEN!!!!  good to see you are still commentating somewhere in the world.

also.... are you trying to say that the vikes win cuz they arent going to turn over the ball??  AP is good for 1 turnover this weekend.  guaranteed!!!

not enough to cover in 4 of them.

canigetawinner has it right. Minny with the better D wins the game, and could also be the reason the Jets beat Indy (but we won't go there).

I think, (like many people), the main match up will be New Orleans offensive line vs. Minnesota defensive line. I think the Vikes show up here and get pressure on Brees.

If Dallas can go into New Orleans and beat'em up, whats stopping Minnesota? Minnesota will put up 4-5 sacks (Like the boys did) in its effort to beat the Saints. If they can't, the Saints will come out on top.

if you have watched the Saints play this year you know what i mean... when other teams don't give things to them, they don't win... if the Vikings don't make mistakes on offense, the Saints will not win...

With respect to you Hutch -I kind of disagree with you on this part of your post The Cards are not- or were not terrible.

1st of all - They were the NFC Champions, and could have been
the Superbowl champion but lost on the last second play
and some even say that Holmes was out of bounds.

But that is the past, but the Cards are not terrible. They just beat
a very hot Green Bay team in an EPIC Game. Cromartie got hurt
in the Saints game as did Warner. so the Saints breesed through
the 2nd Half- ( Pun Intended )

And the Saints are very tough - I dont put any stock into that game
as this one is a different animal., But I have to say that the Cards
are a pretty good football team.. GL this weekend

reasons to take Saints:  rookie middle linebacker - he will get shredded on crossing plays over the middle trying to cover Reggie Bush or Shockey, etc.  He is a ROOKIE!!!!!
second reason- crowd noise
third reason- Drew Brees
4th reason- city of New Orleans will rise from the ruins of Katrina
5th reason- Saints made Kurt Warner look like an old man lw.  They will make Bret look a lot older.
6th reason- Adrian Peterson has been contained
7th reason- Vikes are 0-4 in their last NFC title games.

I respect this guys opinion but no matter what anyone has to say won't matter, He'll come up with an answer. He already took his side long before he posted.

The Vikes front 4 will be difference in this game, if they are able to create pressure I think it will be long day for Brees and Saints. If not dont think Vikes back end can keep up. I do think Vikes will be able to put up at least 24-28 points in this game. I dont think I will bet the game just cheer for Vikes.

If you followed my 'BOUNCE FACTOR" thread which tell's one when teams on winning streaks have peaked and are ready to go down, and produced a 25-15ATS record in the 2 years I posted it here on the site.

Well, the "BOUNCE FACTOR" said the Vikes had peaked and were ready to go down against Zona, so it shouldn't come as any surprise they didn't do well in the game, history shows most team in the Vikes shoes don't, this is nothing out of the ordinary.

In fact, the Vikes reached one of the strongest peaks I can recall in recent years and when this happens the team generally will play poorly for a number of the next few games as the Vikes did, and those games included Chicago and Carolina you mentioned above.

One of the beauties of the "BOUNCE FACTOR" is it let's one know which games are deceptive and not to read to much into that game, and the Vikes/Zona game was one of those.

In fact, because the Vikes played poorly in those games which are deceptive, you now have very good value on the Vikes, the exact oppisite of what your trying to sell here.

Ranger,

As a lifetime Vikes fan, I cherish the chance to ge to the SuperBowl, but I am realistic enough to know this one will be tough.

To answer your question, recall why Brett and Coach were bickering throughout December...if you watched as I did, Childress choked the O and tried to prove we were a running offense. The VIKES are a passing O with a great running back. He would not let Brett open up the O and Brett was not happy. As you witnessed last week, it's now GO time and the O has been wide open. Don't expect a big dose of "try to run the ball" like the Bears and Carolina saw.

Really not sure we can handle the Saints O variety, but please do not doubt the VIKES offensive abilities.

I too am laying the M/L with the Saints. Funny thing is when a person wants to bet a team they will force facts that makes their play look even better. I was in the Dome last weekend and I couldnt even here my girlfriend talk to me. That shit was insane. I dont care about giving points cuz I really do think they win straight up. I quit posting in the NFL forum because I got sick of people forcing shit to justify their play. End result they all lost!!!

Same exact thing could be said for the Saints.

I'm staying away from this game.  Brett Favre is absolutely on fire.

The Saints beat the Cards, but the Cards have been manic-depressive all season (playing great one game stink the next).  Saints weren't doing all that well before they beat the Cards.

It's indoor, and the Vikes are used to that.

The key is the running game for the Vikes.  If they can run the ball and limit the # of Favre throws, they've got a great chance.

Like I said, staying AWAY should be one hell of a game.

Vegas will profit this week on this game, as many cappers' and the public will be on the Vikings with Brett Favre. The public bet Arizona last week, as the Saints cashed in huge. The Saints are underrated, however this week they will receive their due. Brees' will be one step ahead of the defense, as Bushs' abilities with peek , will not allow Favre to steal a victory. Saints will score when needed and cover the spread. Book it, sit back and enjoy the game, smile and cash your ticket....Best wishes !!!!
