Roberto Luongo is an absolute disgrace...

I said this in another thread, but it really needs to be reiterated...

What a fucking pussy Luongo is. If you are him, you have to DEMAND to get the start. Show some balls for once, instead of pussing out in a big spot like usual...

I think Schneider is just as good, if not better. But WOW this is simply pathetic on Luongo's part. And please don't tell me he has a "back injury."

Please.

Classic choke job not just by the goalie but the whole team

Luongo is a smart guy.. I believe he cares more about the team as he's shown it all year by letting Schneids have that many games and also giving up the 'C'.. I believe he wanted Schneids to start as a surprise as well to change team momentum and to 'surprise' the Hawks.. And I think it worked.. It's just too bad Schneids gave the puck up like that for 2 goals.. There are a lot of situations in that game that you can shake your head at (Schneids giving puck up, Burrows missing open net, Torres running goalie, Hodgson puck over glass, playing 90% in CHI end in OT and losing in OT).. Sometimes shit just don't go your way.. I can say we should've won that game all I want but it didn't happen.. And it's not Loo's fault that we lost..

Hes not a disgrace but i wont sugar coat the fact that he is severly rattled and may be a little nervous going into gm 7

Catch this sieve playing net for the Nucks while you can because after tomorrow's loss to the Hawks the only time you will be seeing Luongo is upcoming episodes of Jersey Shore.

"He's just as good as I am, and it doesn't matter who's going."

-Luongo talking about Schneider

I know he has to support his teammmate, but WOW. Heard this on the versus 2nd period intermission during the Sharks game. Completely agree with everything Roenick said about it.

Wow.

hate the Nucks. They choke like the Bills! Said it before the series. Ha!!! Tonight they lose 5-1 and piss away a 3 game lead. Than the whining really starts hehe

rangerz2478 says:

Hilarious that this one game changes things. Had they lost in OT, he would have been buried in the entire province of British Columbia for life.

With that being said I give him credit, he played a good game. But if anyone out there thinks HE is the reason they won this game, and not the stellar defense in front of him then you may as well call yourself NJDevils and head back to high school for a diploma.
rangerz2478 says:
04/27/11 01:41AM
If anyone out there wants to see a REAL goalie, with REAL heart, look no further than Corey Crawford.

Powerz says:
04/27/11 01:43AM

going to be hard to "see" him until next Sept. Granted he is a Stud.

LOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU what a save on Sharp in OT
WeMoveLines says:
04/27/11 01:44AM

Your probably right in all what you said..

Except you forgot to mention games 1,2, and 3.. Where was Crawford then? Loo took 4,5,6 off.. And game 7 they both played great - Crawford played much better.. But credits to the Canucks D..

Granted he played a great series nothing to take away from what he did..

canadianice says:

rangerz2478 says:

Wemovelines - you guys have an absolutely amazing defensive core. 95% of the shots Luongo sees are bad angle shots that he has to do nothing more but make sure he doesn't leave a bad rebound. Hell, the Hawks barely had any quality scoring chances ALL game.

Amazing defensive team - absolutely.

Amazing goalie that you want on your team in a big spot - far from it.
rangerz2478 says:

Not once have I had a single negative thing to say about the Canucks in this thread. Clepto, wemovelines, and all the other Nuck fans out there - congrats. You guys were the better team and deserved to win, there's no way around it.

But with that being said, you know as well as I do that having this guy in goal terrifies you...

And that's all that needs to be said. GL the remainder of the playoffs.
rangerz2478 says:
04/27/11 02:14AM
It's funny, because I know for a fact NJ is going to bump this thread every single game the remainder of the playoffs where he wins a low scoring game, REGARDLESS if he had to make a single good save or not.

But hey, when dealing with a guy with a less an IQ of a demented circus monkey, that has to be expected.

rangerz2478 says:

Uy, clearly it's getting late for me. Feel free to solve the puzzle that is my last sentence. Not gonna bother.

Allbutbroke says:
04/27/11 02:33PM

Is that because he was tied for the most wins in the league this year at 38?   He started 60 games and is tied with a player that started 72.  Or is it because Luongo had the second lowest G.A.A. in the league this year at 2.11?

Is it because he, and his team, just defeated the Stanley Cup champs in 7 games - holding Chicago to one goal in game 7?

for the amount luongo is paid he is not doing enough. nucks thought they had to move this direction in the first place cuz cloutier singlehandedly lost the series to the favored wings. if the nucks had even a decent goalie wings might have lost that series.
cloutier was the worst goalie ever imo to play in our uniform. later it was found out the dude had vision troubles which was a big reason he gave up goals from beyond the blueline. so essentially he stole canuck money, as well as messier in his twilight years.
if i were gm i would get rid of luongo for a few more scoring forwards or a gilmour type of guy. maybe a d man to replace always injured salo.
that being said if not for luongo on a few key saves last night. chicago might have been the town that was partying along with the bulls fans
Lippsman says:
04/27/11 05:24PM

He is overpaid for sure, but a disgrace.

No way, no how.  He can get you to the big dance, but does seem to have problems once he gets there.  He has been better this year, but there are still cracks.  Good for him the Preds will play slower and not pound him as hard as the Hawks.

Lippsman says:
04/27/11 05:46PM

Enough guys.

Go ask wemovelines or Gee_Gee if I "ignore" their arguments. With both I disagreed with their general premise, and both I responded to every single thing they addressed. There is a key difference between the way they argue their points, and the way you do it. I can respect their points of view and analysis, even though they do not necessarily agree with mine. I don't expect everyone to fully agree with me. What's the fun in that?

You wanna talk about ignoring points? Might wanna look up the definition of "hypocrite" in the dictionary and see what comes up. I'm sure it would be the first time you ever used one. Trust me man, if there is a way for us to send the transcripts of this thread, and the Miller thread for a third party to judge who has a clue and who doesn't, I would more than welcome that. In fact, I would be willing to spot you +200 that you don't stand a chance.

And lets be real here man. You are going to see this post, just like I would see any further posts you have in this thread. Saying otherwise is complete bullshit and may be even more ignorant and uneducated than anything else you have said in this thread, or throughout your pathetic life.

But I do agree, you not responding is probably the best for both our sakes. I'm actually starting to feel embarrassed for you.

rangerz2478 says:
04/27/11 05:36PM

Well done bud, well done. Google is a great tool.

Fantastic that's the best you can come up with. Side note - If you wanna learn how to actually argue your point, take note of what Gee_Gee said in your Miller thread. Did he disagree with what I said? Yes. Did he actually know how to back his shit up with facts instead of mindless one liners? Yes.

Learn, and become better.

rangerz2478 says:
04/27/11 05:30PM

How do I look like an asshole? As you can take note of, wemovelines and I were trying to have an actual discussion. Sure we don't agree on every single point, but I can respect where he is coming from and like he said, just a few sidenotes we are bantering on.

There is nothing wrong with that. Not expecting everyone to fully agree or disagree with me, but that's what makes the discussion great.

YOU on the other hand provide absolutely nothing, zilch, nada. No worthwhile points, nothing to counteract anything I say, nothing. The only ammo you have in the gun are shots at the Rangers.

Until you come up with something better to say and maybe learn how to speak in the process, I will keep my debates to people who graduated highschool.

I think that in itself is a pretty damn accurate summary of things. As much as it kills me to say...

Do you think a guy like Brodeur would be pulled in the playoffs after a couple poor games? The fact he was PULLED in game 6 was not simply because he had a bad game 4 and 5, it's because he has a HISTORY of playing poorly in a big spot. If he didn't, he would have been in goal for game 6 no questions asked. If you are the clear-cut number one goalie, you don't get pulled in the playoffs after two bad games unless they had a reason to believe you couldn't get it done.

Is the guy capable of playing great? Sure he is, but he is one of the most fragile goalies in the league. I know it, you know it, and clearly the Nucks know it...
rangerz2478 says:
04/27/11 02:53PM

He ABSOLUTELY won Canada a gold medal, but tell me. But as a fan please tell me...

Were you CONFIDENT in him going into that game? All I heard was "Luongo this, Luongo that." Lets be real here, all of Canada was TERRIFIED of him being in goal for that game. They won that gold medal despite him, not because of him. They won that medal because they had by far the best overall TEAM.

Let me ask a question to all of you Nuck guys, and this should be a great one since NJDevils will be right here to chime in....

Put Ryan Miller is net behind the Nuck defense, and put Luongo in net behind the Sabre defense. What are your best guesses for what happens?

rangerz2478 says:
04/27/11 02:55PM
And wemovelines -

It's not about consistency to me. EVERY GOALIE is up and down at times. Even the best ever goes through rough stretches, it's inevitable.

But with that being said, there are guys who can handle adversity well (being in big spots with your back against the wall) and those who don't.

It's tough to argue Luongo falls under the first category.
rangerz2478 says:
04/27/11 03:01PM
Lol disgrace? Sure Miller let in some questionable goals but I can't say that. Lets just agree to disagree. The Sabres have one of the worst overall team defenses for a playoff team that I've seen in a while. Would love to see Luono play behind THAT defense.

Regardless none of this matters. Lets see Luongo prove me wrong. And by prove me wrong, I mean win a game or two by standing on his head and stealing a game his team DOES NOT dominate. If he does I will be right back here to give him credit.

rangerz2478 says:
04/27/11 03:06PM

Really bud? I think you need to think back a lil further. Brodeur sucked, and was replaced by Luongo. Luongo was FAR from great. He could barely catch a pop up (to use a baseball term) and let out some AWFUL rebounds. Might wanna think back a bit further. I heard a TON of people who were crying out for Fleury to start that game. A ton...
rangerz2478 says:
04/27/11 02:45PM

You seriously can't see the difference between calling out a single player, and saying the team sucks? If you can't see the difference then I can't help you.
rangerz2478 says:
04/27/11 02:38PM

Try reading post 59 and let me know if the reason for the Nucks success is the overall team defense, or Luongo. There is a right and wrong answer to this question.

Hav eyou ever played on a team higher than 10 year ols?  Demand to start?

WeMoveLines says:
04/27/11 04:35PM

I think the fact that Schneider has played really well this season has more to do with it then Luongo playing bad.. Do you think if we had a back up like Raycroft or similar that he would've got pulled? I don't think so.. It's a credit to Schneiders playing.. And I don't think it's as much Luongo not good in a high pressure situation - it's more a mental thing against the Blackhawks.. There's no doubt he has mental issues with them because of years past.. So that combined with Schneiders playing well and also a 'surprise tactic' I think all played key roles in the decision..

All in all I'm pretty sure we're close on agreeing - just a few small reasons to banter about..

WeMoveLines says:
04/27/11 04:47PM

Cloutier had pretty good numbers for the Canucks in the regular seasons.. I wouldn't say he's the worst goalie of Canuck history.. But def a big reason why we lost that series to Detroit.. Didn't know he had vision probs! lol.. That is funny.. Maybe you can say he's the worst 'starting' goalie for the Canucks.. But then again we had a lot of different goalies between 94-99 ish..

In all we should feel ok about our goaltending situation.. I mean at least we're not like Philly!  (just buggin)..

WeMoveLines says:
04/27/11 02:50PM

At the same time rangerz.. The title of your thread is a little overblown.. He did win Canada a gold medal  He's not a disgrace.. He's up and down.. When he's up he's the best goalie in the world..  It's the consistency I think that bothers most people (including me)..

WeMoveLines says:
04/27/11 03:11PM

Well to be honest, I can't really remember his GAA and Save Percentage around that 'period of time'.. LOL.. Doesn't matter though cuz he came in and did the job and did it well.. And won the Gold Medal..

As far as having his back against the wall and proving it? I think we will see..

And if he can't prove it I will be right back here saying the truth!

Cuz lets be honest - if he laid an egg last night I would be the first saying he's done in Vancouver.. That's how short of a leash he was on..

WeMoveLines says:
04/27/11 03:03PM

And to answer your question on was I confident in him going into the gold medal game? At the time HELL YA! He was playing great and there were no real doubts.. And he proved it..

Now was I confident in him going into game 7 last night? HELL NO!! Didn't know which Loo would show up.. But to his credit he played a 'solid' game even tho he didn't get many shots.. He has a lot to prove still of course.. And we'll see.. But he's not a disgrace cmon.. He just beat the Hawks and excercised some of the demons..

WeMoveLines says:
04/27/11 02:56PM

Hey hey.. I'm the type that says team wins game.. I don't think goalies win games (they do but not as much as team)..

So can you say the same thing when Canada wins gold and Brodeur is in net? I think so.

Not to mention the huge save Luongo made in the final minute of that gold medal game..

Lets agree that he's up and down.. He's better than Miller c'mon.. Miller should be the disgrace after what he did in the playoffs this year..

And I was cheering for Buffalo!!! Had a futures on them to begin the season!!
