Pero- what are your thoughts on Tillman? I liked the way he pitched last September but it seems like he is getting mixed reviews this spring?

Tillman will start at AAA this year.

David Hernandez will get the nod over him to start the year as teh 5th starter.

Tillman has a ton of potential and probably more raw stuff/higher ceiling than Matusz. Tillman is just turning 22 but I dont think he will end up being better than Matusz or ever truly reaching that ceiling. He had trouble last year keep the ball down and locating but his curve ball will soon be recognized as one fo the best in the game when he does start pitching.

This year I would expet him get to pitch in the high 4's and not sure how many wins depending on when he is called up.

Over the next few years though he will be good. How good is up to him.

So everyone is predicting Matusz to win ROY.

I guess Sparky is in a boat of denial all by his lonesome.

also like Thorpe's prediction of Austin Jackson

Not a Cub fan or baseball fan for that matter - but the CUBS take ut all this year.  Feel it in me bone(s_)

Phillies have an AL East lineup, better defense and better pitching than the Yankees.

Rollins, Utley, Howard, Werth, Polanco, Ruiz, Victorino, Ibanez .... Where is the easy out, outside of Ruiz?

Not sure about better pitching. 1-5 I like Sabathia, AJ, Pettitte, Vazquez and Hughes over Halladay, Hamels, Blanton, Happ, and Moyer. Like the 1-4 better and the 1-3 is close. Hamels should bounce back this year, but Happ's peripherals do not justify a performance anywhere close to where he was last year.
jpero says:
03/30/10 06:12PM

If you dont think the Halladay is leaps and bounds above Lee you are absurd.

Doc has dominated the AL East and the best line ups in baseball. Going to the NL he will only get better because he now pitches to one less batter a game. He will probably drop his ERA by half a run.
jpero says:
03/30/10 06:13PM

I like what I saw from Happ last year but you are right about his peripherals.

Hamels should almost definitely bounce back and have a strong year.

I was saying the Phillies pitching is better than last year. As is their lineup.
thorpe says:

Phillies also added Polanco who is an offensive upgrade over Feliz, although Feliz is as good as anyone with the glove at 3B.

Borbon isn't eligable. I'm just saying.

I like Carlos Santana...I just don't know when he'll be coming up. If I knew more about that...I might have picked him.

Oh yea...and is that Montero vote for me? Because I was joking...I said Jackson was my real vote.

My Predictions at the start:
AL East Champ - NYY
AL Central Champ - Twins
AL West Champ - LAA
AL Wildcard - TB
AL Champion - NYY

NL East Champ - Phils
NL Central Champ - STL
NL West Champ - SFG
NL Wildcard - Braves
NL Champion - SFG

World Series Champion - NYY

My Predictions now:
ALCS- RANGERS vs NYY

AL Champion - RANGERS

NLCS
SFG - CINN

(San Diego needs to win wildcard or the Giants need a worse record than the Reds.  if the Braves win the Phil play SDP and the giants have a better shot against the Phillies in a short series than a 7 game series.  If the Braves win widcard then the phillies go to the series )

World Series Champion - Rangers over Phils or Giants dependent on wildcard match up
