last years contest was a joke,,,wearing a cape and a S along with howards popularity is the only reason why he won.....and this year with even less talent and name players on the roster...i just dont see any way howard doesnt repeat

hes the most popular guy in the dunk contest, most voted on all-star, and arguably the most popular guy in the nba

the books came out with howard -120.....i went to put in a bet and it was no longer available until today where it is now -170

i still think thats a lock play...i would love to hear anyones thoughts and or arguments on this topic

I got howard even money when it came out, but NO WAY is it a lock. JR smith and Nate both have potential.

J R SMITH will win..

how does howard lose?

they make it so you have to "dunk". even though it was insane it wasn't a "dunk" give him props trying to dunk but it wasnt

are you crazy ? i really dont like his chances all that much, unless he comes with one of the most unique dunks of all time.

HOWARD = 7 Feet tall
NATE = 5 Feet 8inches tall

Nate has a huge advantage before he even puts on his jersey.

Do you realize how much easier it is for a 7footer to dunk as opposed to little Nate?
samuelsosa says:

i meant disadvantage but from the way the voters will compare a 7fter to 5ft 8....that's an advantage for Nate in that sense.

I get your point but did you not watch last year? Doesn't seem like you did...
samuelsosa says:

doesnt seem like you get my point

last year Dwight was taller than the shortest competitor [Jamario Moon/Gerald Green] by 2inches.

this year Dwight is taller than the shortest competitor [Nate] by 14inches

last year has nothing to do with it

and my "are you crazy" comment was to his "any way howard doesnt win?" comment

Howard all day

since the average height of covers posters is 5foot 3, i dont expect you people to understand how easy it is for someone 7 foot  tall to put on a cape and come close to dunking a basketball. it is extremely easy.

I know Jerry, you are one of the tall ones....that's why with the short guys, the avg is 5 foot 3

nate robinson +500 to win it

02/13/09 07:54AM
i hope you guys are not talking about nate 'lets take 10hrs and 50000 dunks to make one" robinson. i dont care how short you are, youar ein the contest for a reason, you dont get 50billion tries just because your short. nate has ZERO chance of winning. there's nothign new he will be able to execute. rudy fernandez will come out with some new shit, howard dont matter how tall he is, if he comes out with new stuff he will get the score, its really between those two guys.

JR Smith to win @ +650 is the best play. When I saw this line I thought it was a joke, hes the only guy in the lineup that is an athletic dunker.

Howard is a beast but the only reason he won last year was because of his props/jokes rather than the actual dunks. Nate takes way to long to actually hit his dunks and has the "nice dunk for a little guy" thing going, but i doubt he'll win. Fernandez can throw down in games but hes not the type of guy that will win the comp.

And Kapono +150 to win the 3pt shootout is a great play too

Def with Time....J.R Smith will win it.

If Nate hits his dunks, they'll probably give it to him.  Remember how exciting Spud Webb was?

JR smith is some sort of chance but is good value for a small bet for sure - those in the know will know if he has a special dunk planned

dunk contest is rigged in that some have already seen all the participants array of dunks and teammates talking up what their guy can do

JR aint that much of a fan fave though

they won't give it to howard two years in a row.
i like rudy if he pulls off the rainbow like the oregonian
reported he might attempt
