QB's Better Than Favre

I will start this off by saying I was very impressed with Brett Favre last night.  That may have been one of the better performances of his career, all things considered.  Of course the Favre dick sucking by ESPN and others has gotten to the absolute ridiciulous point that you think that Favre is still the best QB in the game today.  I'm not even willing to consider him the best all-time QB playing today, I beleive Peyton Manning holds that honor.  That being said I thought it would be fun to go through all of the starting QB's in the league today and see who the better QB TODAY is.  Going by division:

AFC EAST
Tom Brady-  Better than Favre.  No explanation needed.

Mark Sanchez- I'll take Favre, but will be curious to what the reaction would be if Sanchez took the same Jets offense minus Coles to the playoffs.

Trent Edwards- Take Favre.

Ronnie Brown- Take Favre over whoever or whatever takes snaps for Miami.

AFC NORTH
Ben Roethlisberger-  Take him today over Favre.  Last I checked winning Super Bowls was a big deak.

Joe Flacco- I'll take Favre here, but not might much.  Flacco might really be something special.

Carson Palmer-  I'll consider this one a PUSH.

Brady Andersen-  Ill take Favre.

AFC SOUTH
Peyton Manning- No questions, Manning.

David Garrard- Ill take Favre.

Matt Schaub- Ill take Favre.

Kerry Collins-  Ill take Favre.

AFC WEST
Kyle Orton-  Ill take Favre, but not by so much.  Has anyone seen what his record is as a starter?

Philip Rivers-  Rivers.  I think this is a good example of how much the media loves Favre.  When Favre starts jawing with people and mixing it up with the big boys its commendable.  When Rivers does it he is considered to be an asshole.  Also, no one is throwing a prettier deep ball in the league right now than Rivers.

Matt Cassell-  Favre.

JaMarcuss Russell-  Favre.  I think I saw a javelin thrower in the Special Olympics that is more accurate throwing a football than Russell.

NFC EAST
Eli Manning-  Ill take Eli, really impressed with how he has taken leadership with a very inexperienced receiving corps.

Donovan McNabb-  McNabb.  One of the most unheralded QBs in the league.  Always has a weak receivers and injury plagued running backs, but he still finds himself in the playoffs all the time.  Has guided his team to many road victories in these playoffs.

Tony Romo- Favre.  Ability wise I would take Romo, but Favre makes up with or with mentality.

Jason Campbell- Favre.

NFC NORTH
Jay Cutler- Going with Cutler.  He is a young Favre revisited, not mentally as a strong, but overwhelming ability.

Aaron Rodgers- Aside from one bad throw to Jennings he played a damn good game last night despite no protection.  If Favre had to play behind that line last night he would have been taken out on a stretcher.

Matthew Stafford- Favre.

NFC SOUTH
Drew Brees-  Brees, no questions.

Matt Ryan- PUSH.  Does not mistakes, and has ability to make plays.

Jake Delhomme-  Favre.

Tampa Bay-  Favre.

NFC WEST
Kurt Warner-  Warner.  Anyone who takes Favre is only asking "What have you done for me lately?"

Matt Hasselbeck-  Favre...I think. Its been so long since he was going I can't remember if he is still good or not.

Shaun Hill-  Favre.

Kyle "lets smoke another " Boller-  Favre.

The end results:  10 QB's better,  2 your splitting hair,  19 he is better than.

Conclsusion:  At this point of his career, Brett Favre is an above-average QB.  Despite 18 years in the league there are 2 QB's with more rings and 3 with just as many.

Favre still is one of the best. His only problems have been recklessness. Brees, Peyton, Brady are the only QB's you can undoubtedly say are better than Brett. There are a handful that are on the same level as him. His ability and experience can't be questioned. It all comes down to, can a 40 year old make it through an entire season? Fathertime is undefeated. Vikings fans just need to be grateful for everytime he steps on the field healthy.

I will undoubtedly say Philip Rivers is better than Favre.  I want to know one thing Favre does better than him.

But all this being said 10 years ago would you take Farve over all the QB's in the league i would!

I think there will always be QBs that are smarter then Favre with better mechanics, or make better reads...

But physically Favre has the arm strength, can make the throws

In someways Favre really is an addict/gambler type that I can truly respect... that is why he is good at improvising/making it up as he goes along, is willing to take gambles (and some times loses) and is very in  the moment and has fun  (and gets pissed off at times)

People do not understand the beauty of the addict/gambler, who exists almost in the their own world...  I think back to Favre's superbowl winning season where he is faking 360 jump passes off of simple hand offs that are obviously run plays (not even draws)...

I think people hate Farve because the coverage he gets and alot of people just don't like addict/gambler types (as lot of us know)...

To me, if you understand Farve for what he is and who he is, you really miss the point and can't see th beauty of the addict/gambler in him and that is in all of us who come here...

10 years ago when he was throwing 6 picks in the NFC playoffs against the Kurt Warner led greatest show on turf?

rogers game gets over shadowed becuase farve beat him but rogers played an unbeliveable game last night making rediculously hard throws and abuot 400 yards if he actually had time to throw the fuckin ball theres no doubt in my mind he woulda reached 500...

Wins....I'm sorry but didn't Rivers go something like 14-2 his first year as a starter, and also beat Favre heads up last season?  I suppose he didn't pull that game out of his ass at Tampa Bay with the season on the line.

I also must have imagined him taking down the Manning led Colts in the playoffs two years ago, then giving the undefeated Pats all they can handle in the AFC championship game while playing on a torn ACL, no LT, and a worthless Gates.  I really wonder how all this stuff seems to be so easily forgotten.

Did I mention he played that game ON A TORN ACL. He drove the ball into the red zone several times that game and with no LT and a horribly hobbled Gates they had no one in the red zone so they had to settle for field goals.  It wasn't a big game last year in the playoffs when he drove down the field to tie the Colts and then led the game-winning drive in overtime.  He did lose at Pitt the next game, but that is because Roethlisberger is the guy on the other side.  No shame is losing to him at home.

Payton - Brady - Breeze - Rivers

Any QB after those four Farve can compete with on any given Sunday at the age of 40

The fact that u'd even think about taking Sanchez over Favre is mind boggling, if the jets make the playoffs it's cuz of their defense

this list is ludicrous. and kind of unfair comparing a 40 year against guys 25-30.

Statements like I'll take Favre, but Orton isnt far behind are silly.

This thread should be closed.  Having Orton near Favres level is ridiculous.  His arm strength is better than most even at his age.  His decision making this year has been better as he is now more comfortable with a strong running game to take some tension off.

I'm taking Favre, but for some reason or another Orton seems to win a lot more than he lose.s
