2010 Super Bowl 44 Betting Lines

On February 7, the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints will meet in Miami to decide Super Bowl 44. The Las Vegas sportsbook online didn’t wait long to post their opening point spreads and predicted Super Bowl Totals for the game.

The Indianapolis Colts opened favored by 5 points and the over/under for the game was set at 56 points. But the early money has come in on the Colts and has bumped the line up to the 5 ½. The over was also seeing lots of action as the total as been increased by half a point as well.

Opening Vegas Odds:

Las Vegas Hilton Colts -5.5 Total 56
Mirage Colts -4.5 Total 55.5
Hard Rock Colts -5 Total 56
Planet Hollywood Colts -5 Total 55

New Orleans Saints +5 +170 Over 56
Indianapolis Colts -5 -210 Under 56

My advice to everyone bet on NFL, take your time before you place your bets and be sure to get the best number. The game isn’t until February 7; there will be a lot of line movement between now and then but if you see a number you like, take advantage of it.

A rule of thumb to follow when trying to get the best number, is bet the favorite soon after the line is posted and bet the underdog as close to game time as possible. Take note though, the bookmakers also know this so they may move the line a little to counteract all of the late... [More]

NFL Rapid Reaction: Saints Defeat Vikings, 31-28 (F/OT)

Minnesota fans are now asking the same question that Green Bay fans asked two years ago: Did Brett Favre throw away his team’s chances to go to the Super Bowl?

Favre’s overtime interception in the 2007 NFC Championship Game led to the New York Giants’ winning score at Lambeau Field. Sunday, Favre threw an interception with seven seconds remaining in regulation, denying Minnesota a chance to attempt, an admittedly long, 55-yard game-winning field goal. New Orleans went on to win the NFC championship on the first possession of overtime, getting a 40-yard field goal from Garrett Hartley and ending the Vikings’ season one step short of Miami, site of Super Bowl XLIV. Here are the complete NFL scores at football betting lines.

It’s not fair to hold Favre responsible for the loss, especially in a drama-filled game that took as many turns as you’ll ever see in a postseason contest. Favre took a beating all evening from the Saints' defense, played much of the second half with a significant left ankle injury and was dealing with a tailback in Adrian Peterson who fumbled three times. Overall, the Vikings committed five turnovers – a performance that frankly made them fortunate to be within striking distance at the end of regulation.

I know it’s a cliché, but this is the kind of game where you hate to see either team lose. It’s easily the most dramatic and hard... [More]

NFL Betting Picks: New York Jets @ Indianapolis Colts

First, we saw the Colts and Bengals remaining on the New York Jets’ regular-season schedule and figured they were finished. Then, after the Colts and Bengals rested their starters, the Jets were handed a playoff berth. So we wrote them off against Cincinnati in the Wildcard game and the Jets proved us wrong. Surely, though, their Cinderella run would end in San Diego. Nope.

The Jets pulled off another miracle and will try to do so again versus mighty Indianapolis.

New York Jets @ Indianapolis Colts

Sunday, January 24, 3:00 p.m. ET
Sportsbook favorite: Colts -7.5

Rex Ryan said it best after Sunday’s game: “that was Jets football.” When the Jets stick to their strengths – and they have many – they’re a tough team to beat. They’re famous for their defense, especially against the pass. Darrelle Revis matches up against opponents’ top wideouts every week and usually wins the battle. He has an interception in each of New York’s postseason wins this season. The Jets are also tough against the run, so we shouldn’t expect the Colts 32nd-ranked rushing offense to do much.

The Jets’ rushing attack, the best in the NFL, has been a huge plus so far in the playoffs. Thomas Jones carried the torch in the regular season but the bigger yet more explosive Shonn Greene ha... [More]

AFC Championship Odds: NFL Betting Picks 2010 Playoff Schedule Predictions - ‘Things that make you go ‘HMMMM’’ The San Diego Chargers-here’s a team that’s been to the NFL playoffs 5 of the past 6 years, and they can’t get over the hump. Sunday's loss the New York Jets was just another chapter in a long book of questions the Chargers can’t explain. NFL Live Odds Indianapolis Colts -8 favorites.

Norv Turner- Is Norv Turner one of the worst head coaches ever? It’s not about wins and losses. It’s about finishing. He has yet to finish anything. Mark Sanchez - Sanchez is a rookie QB taking the New York Jets to the AFC Championship. What will the Jets be like 3 or 4 years from now when Sanchez has experience? NFL Betting Odds List New York Jets +8 underdogs.

NFL Betting Picks & NFL Predictions - In a game that features the best defense (jets) vs a good defense(colts) i would lean more towards the QB play on this one. If the Colts can minimize Jets rushing attack which is phenomenal and put game on Sanchez shoulders, I just can't believe that Peyton won't put up some numbers and Sanchez will faultier. ... [More]

AFC Championship: New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts

It will be a David vs. Goliath-like battle when the Final 2 from the American Football Conference battle for the Lamar Hunt Trophy on Sunday.

The Indianapolis Colts, who are “supposed to be in the AFC title game,” will host the New York Jets, who “weren’t even supposed to make the playoffs” and on top of that, it will see the tried, tested and true QB Peyton Manning dueling with the rookie signal-caller Mark Sanchez.

Sportsbook Online opened Indy as a 7.5 point favorite, which quickly went to -8. The total is set at 40.5.

Will an inexperienced pivot represent the AFC in the Super Bowl or will a sure-fire Hall of Famer, and possibly the greatest QB of all time, carry the banner?

Indy is 6-2 ATS in their last eight games (remember they didn’t care about the last couple of games on their schedule).

Online sportsbook have Alabama favored by 3.5-points and the Total is set at 46.

The Crimson Tide captured the SEC title when they defeated the Florida Gators 32-13 in the conference championship game while the Texas Longhorns barely held on to defeat the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Big 12 championship, winning 13-12.

NFL Sunday Night Football Preview – Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Jets

Ironically the final game in Giants Stadium will be hosted by the New York Jets as they try to keep their dwindling playoff hopes alive. The Jets are one of two teams that control its own destiny, with Baltimore being the other team. If the Jets win on Sunday night, then they will enter the playoffs with a potential match up against the New England Patriots.

It’s been a huge year for Jets fans who were given a glimpse of their future after Eric Mangini was summarily booted and the Jets moved up to draft Dirty Sanchez instead of waiting to see what Brett Favre was going to do. While Favre is a top-3 quarterback in the NFL during the 2009 football betting season, Sanchez is going to be a franchise guy. Lofty expectations killed the kid throughout the season, and a 3-0 SU start to the season only inflated those burdening hopes.
