The
second week of the NFL season, NFL Week 2, is in the books and there
were a few more surprises served up for the online betting world that
focus on NFL Betting.
Bet Republic
ran these power rankings last week and now this week we have a new
number one and some big risers and fallers. After the 10th spot you
could make a case for any team to be slotted in any of the 10-22
rankings. It’s been entertaining football…
LET’S LOOK AT THE TOP 10 NFL POWER RANKINGS:
NY Giants:
The
Giants helped the Cowboys open their new stadium by beating Dallas in a
nail biter. With all of the hoopla and circus like atmosphere
happening, the Giants, led by Eli Manning, remained composed and went
on to win the game on a last minute field goal. The Justin Tuck injury
and others to the defense could catch up with the team. Last Week - 2
Baltimore Ravens:
The
Ravens went out West and had another exceptional offensive game led by
a balanced offensive effort. The defense gave up 436 yards in the air
to Phillip Rivers but held Darren Sproles to 26 yards rushing. Willis
McGahee seems intent on being the number one running back after a solid
game. The defense is still giving up way too much yardage. Last Week – 3
New Orleans Saints: In
two games the Saints have put up 93 points that has to be frightening
to their opposing defensive coordinators. Drew Brees is unstoppable and
his pinpoint accuracy, poise and competitiveness are overwhelming
defenses. The defense is still a work in progress under new coordinator
Greg Williams but it’s rounding into form. Last Week - 8
Minnesota Vikings:
Minnesota
won their second road game in a row and Brett Favre is starting to get
a nice feel for the team. The Vikings are one of the few teams that
could have the offensive weapons to keep up with the Saints and they
have a better defense. They have only played the Browns and Lions so
it’s hard to gauge just how good they are. Last Week - 5
Atlanta Falcons:
Atlanta
continues to play well on both sides of the ball and have a balanced
offensive attack. Matt Ryan continues his solid play and Michael Turner
got untracked against the Panthers. The lost their number one draft
pick for the season this past week with a season ending injury and are
thin on the defensive line which is a cause for concern. Last Week - 9
Pittsburgh Steelers:
The
Steelers lost a close game in Chicago to a game Jay Cutler. The usually
dependent Jeff Reed missed two fourth quarter field goals that would
have won the game. They will bounce back but miss Troy Polamalu. Last
Week -1
Indianapolis Colts:
WR
Anthony Gonzalez is out for six to eight weeks and in steps Pierre
Garcon to replace him and makes a great play on a screen toss to win
the game over Miami. It helps when you have Peyton Manning throwing the
ball. The defense can’t stop anyone and the offensive line needs to
play better. Last Week – 7
New York Jets:
The
biggest surprise of the season so far Rex Ryan has this team believing
in itself and getting tremendous play out of the defense that has yet
to give up a touchdown. Beating Houston and New England are big time
wins. QB Mark Sanchez is playing very well but expect some rocky
rookies moments along the line. Last Week – 15
New England Patriots:
Tom
Brady and the rest of the offense looked completely befuddled by the
Jets. You know that hate losing that game. The Pats were without Wes
Welker and Jarod Meyo, which affected their performance but the Jets
were the better team on Sunday. The team still is not sharp and is lucky not to be 0-2. Last Week – 4
Arizona Cardinals:
Kurt Warner rebounded from a poor week one with one of his best career
performances. The defense also played well shutting down the Jaguars.
They look to be back to playoff form. Last Week - 23
