Nebraska Cornhuskers Join the Big Ten
It was a good news bad news scenario for the Big 12. Good news: the Texas Longhorns aren’t going anywhere. The bad news: see ya later Nebraska (and Colorado too).
The ‘Huskers are headed to the Big Ten, while the Colorado Buffaloes are pulling up stakes for the Pac-10.
Nebraska still has another year facing the likes of the Longhorns, the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Oklahoma Sooners but come next summer, online sportsbooks will be putting up NCAA Football future odds on Nebraska vs. the likes of the Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes and the Penn State Nittany Lions.
J.B. Milliken, the University of Nebraska’s president, thought it was prudent to join the Big Ten.
“The University of Nebraska would have new opportunities with membership in the Big Ten – and I believe the Big Ten would be a stronger conference as well,” he said in an AP report.
Based on the numbers, the Cornhuskers could be making a good move.
Since Sept. of 1995, the Nebraska Cornhuskers have faced Big Ten competition nine times, going 8-1 straight up and 6-3 against the spread.
With only nine games in the last 15 years, obviously the ‘Huskers haven’t faced all 11 teams in the Big Ten – yes, there are 11 teams despite the name of the conference – but here is how they’ve fared against the ones they have played.
They’ve played the Iowa Hawkeyes twice in the past 15 years, once in 1999 and once in 2000 a...

The oldest tennis tournament in the world just about lost some grand slam firepower on Day 1. Six-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer provided some early drama when he was forced to fight back from two sets down to dispatch Colombian Alejandro Falla. Needless to say, online sportsbook had Federer listed as a huge favorite in this match.
And so it all begins at the All England Club, with the start of another edition of Wimbledon.
While a Federer-Rafael Nadal final at the French Open never materialized – Federer was knocked out by Sweden’s Robin Soderling – Rafa did win the 2010 men’s singles title, defeating the aforementioned Soderling 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.
But this isn’t Roland Garros, Wimbledon isn’t being played on clay and Nadal hasn’t been able to dominate in this Grand Slam. He did pick up a title in 2008, but didn’t have an opportunity to defend his title as he was forced to withdraw from last year’s tourney (due to tendonitis in both knees).
Nadal is still one of the favorites to win this year’s Wimbledon, currently listed at +200 at SPORTSBETTING.com.
He is also listed at +300 to be the runner up.
Roger Federer has a history of successes at Wimbledon, doing on the grass courts of the All England Club what Nadal does on the clay courts of Roland Garros.
Federer has six Wimbledon men’s singles titles to his name, the most recent coming last year when he defeated Andy Roddick.
Although currently ranked No. 2 by the ATP,...

With a tip of the hat to Yogi Berra, it’s “deja vu all over again” as the 2010 NBA Championship is set to tip off.
Just as they did two seasons ago, the storied Boston Celtics and LA Lakers will represent their respective conferences in this year’s NBA Final. LA is looking serve a cold dish of revenge, as they were dumped 4-2 in that 2008 Final.
This time around, online sportsbooks have the Lakers as the series favorites, listed at -175 while the Celtics are +155 underdogs.
So where’s the money going and is there any good value in betting on the series.
Let’s look at some betting numbers of note for this matchup:
Boston has been a healthy play for the sports betting public the last few weeks, posting a 7-2 mark against the spread in their last nine starts.
They’ve also been covering at an impressive clip on home court, going 7-2 ATS the last nine times they’ve played in front of the hometown faithful.
Over/Under bettors might want to jot down that in the Celtics last 11 games overall, they have recorded 3 Overs, 7 Unders and 1 Push.
As for the Lakers, they are 10-2 SU in their last 12 overall, but for bettors, keep in mind they have not paid off very well at the STAPLES Center in their last 20 games, only going 7-12-1 ATS (but they are 17-3 straight up in those 20 starts).
The Celtics owned the Lakers the last time they met in the finals, going 4-2 SU but they were even more dominant when it came to against the spread...

A month into the new baseball season and we have a few surprises developing.
In
the Big Apple, the New York Yankees are challenging for the American
League East lead…that doesn’t fall into the “Surprising” category…but
across town, the New York Mets are fighting the Philadelphia Phillies
for the National League East division, which is. Yes, it’s still early,
but they have had a decent start to the season.
Online sportsbooks currently have the Metropolitans at +400 to win the NL East division.
The
Mets, who have played second fiddle to the Yankees since the glory days
of Hernandez, Dykstra, et al, were sitting in fourth place in the NL
East at this time last year, with a 10-13 record and plenty of doom and
gloom surrounding the team. As of this past Sunday, they are 14-11 and
a half game behind Philadelphia.
They start a series with the Reds in Cincinnati to kick-off the week.
Bettors
have been cashing in on the Mets in their last 10 games, as they’ve
booked an impressive 8-2 mark. However, they have struggled on the
road, going 3-9 in their last 12 away from home.
John Maine is
slated for the Tuesday night start. Bettors take note, as his last 11
road starts have not produced many winning tickets. He (and the team)
have stumbled to a 2-9 mark in those games.

Remember Affirmed? Yeah, neither do I, although I’ve read a bit about him. What about Big Brown…that guy I do remember…who cares you ask?
This week a lot of people and over the next two days, a ton more will be talking horse racing, specifically the Kentucky Derby and the ever elusive, but always romantic chase for the Triple Crown.
I love the Derby and jump in with both feet, playing all the Kentucky Derby Contests I can find, betting a bunch of Derby props and outright bets, plus spend most of the day sipping a cold beverage getting ready to scream at the TV for 2 minutes.
I’ve entered my picks in two great Free Kentucky Derby Contests:
Take a look:
1) $100,000 Triple Crown Contest
I play this one every year – it’s a great one that keeps you interested for the entire Triple Crown chase and there are cool prizes, cash and a shot at $100,000.
Remember, it’s FREE to enter!
2) Kentucky Derby “Pick The Winners”
And I like playing these Pick The Winners as well.
It’s dead easy to play and really adds to the excitement of the race and I could win a free $100.00.
Put your picks in here:
Saturday, May 1st marks the date for the 2010 Kentucky Derby. Check the Kentucky Derby Odds at Kentucky Derby Gambling
And of course, it also marks the first stop for all potential Triple Crown Champions, a feat not accomplished since Affirmed took the Derby, the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes in 1978, more ...

Everything seems to be back to normal in La-La Land, at least for the time being.
While many were beginning to jump off the Los Angeles Lakers’ bandwagon prior to Tuesday’s Game 5, Kobe Bryant didn’t seem concerned about blowing a 2-0 series lead to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
“Who said our backs are against the wall?” Bryant asked when questioned by the Los Angeles Times before Game 5.
“It’s a 2-2 series. What the hell is going on around here?”
Although the momentum seemed to be swinging in the Thunder’s direction, the Lakers showed the new kids on the playoff block who was in charge.
While Kobe did have a solid game, he had modest point totals, going 4 of 9 from the field for 13 points but his teammates were there to contribute as well.
Power forward Pau Gasol led the Lake Show with 25 points, center Andrew Bynum was close behind with 21 and the Lakers came away with a 111-87 win, covering as 6-point home favorites.
The momentum seems to have swung again but who will be the victor when the two meet in Oklahoma City on Friday?
Online sportsbooks have the Lakers as 1.5-point road ‘dogs with the Total is set at 195.
Lakers vs. Oklahoma City Trends:
The Lakers are a study of opposites in their last nine overall games against the Thunder, going 6-3 straight up but going 3-6 against the spread at the same time.
In the Lakers’ last nine road games, they aren’t impressive either way, going 2-7 SU and 3-6 AT...

Friday night serves up three more big NBA matchups, including the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs.
Prior to Game 2, Mavs owner Mark Cuban talked about the hate he felt towards his team’s first-round opponent.
“I have a hard time being civil to [Spurs owner] Peter Holt at the board of governors meetings and he has a hard time being civil to me even though we both like each other,” Cuban is quoted as saying by ESPN.
“We can both be 0-80 and if those last two games are Spurs-Mavericks, it's going to be like a playoff game because we dislike each other that much.”
The Spurs responded by blowing out the Mavs 102-88 in Game 2, covering as 3.5-point underdogs.
Now tied at 1-1 going into Game 3, online sportsbooks have the Spurs as 3-point road ‘dogs with the Total at 193.5.
In their last 16 games in San Antonio, the Dallas Mavericks are a very impressive 12-4 against the spread.
The Mavs have also been kind to bettors in their last 12 road games, with records of 10-2 SU and ATS.
The Spurs, for their part, are 12-3 SU and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 home games.
Looking at the Over/Under numbers of note, San Antonio has produced 7 Overs and only 1 Under in their last eight home games.
Sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com is reporting early action coming in on the underdog Mavericks, with 63% of all the betting volume in this one so far tilted to the visitor.

While the NFL has tweaked the format of its draft — the first round
takes place on Thursday, the second to third on Friday and last four on
Saturday — the basics remain the same and the worst team, the St. Louis
Rams, will be selecting first.
Oklahoma Sooners QB Sam Bradford
is being touted by many as the first-selection overall and seeing as
the Rams have released QB Marc Bulger, there seems to be logic to that.
In
a recent USA Today mock draft, an eight-analyst panel unanimously
predicted that Bradford would be the player that the St. Louis Rams
would select in the one-spot.
According to sportsbooks, Bradford is an overwhelming favorite to be No. 1 overall at -1200 and +550 not to be the top pick.
Checking online sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com, the Sooners’ signal-caller is also listed at +500 to be the two-pick overall.
There was a movement to award last year’s Heisman Trophy to Nebraska Cornhusker defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.
Suh
didn’t end up winning the award, Alabama’s Mark Ingram did, and wasn’t
even the runner-up, that honor would go to Stanford’s Toby Gerhart.
He
did benefit from the good press, as he was considered a potential
top-pick overall until recently, when Bradford seemed to pull ahead.
Suh
is also a possible No. 2 overall, according to a number of 2010 mock
draft’s, and is currently listed with draft odds of -410 to be just
that.

Strikeforce is back this weekend with three of their championship belts on the line. Online sportsbook has put up MMA odds on four great fights.
Jason "Mayhem" Miller vs. Tim Stout
The
undercard fight between Jason "Mayhem" Miller and Tim Stout is showing
Miller as a big favourite at -1250, while Tim Stout is getting +750.
Miller
needs a victory here after losing to Jake Shields in his last bout.
After that fight, Miller said he wanted to do more, and do it more
effectively, obviously disappointed with the outcome. Facing Stout, he
should be able to showcase his muay thai and submission skills.
This
fight was put together to get Miller back on track and in the running
again, which I think will happen. I'm not even thinking about a wager
either way in this one.
Gilbert Melendez vs. Shinya Aoki's
Some
attractive lines showed up on the first fight on the main card.
Lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez is at -160, with challenger
Shinya Aoki's at +130. If I'm looking for a bit of a long-shot that
could pay-out, Aoki may just do it. He has a chance at submitting
Melendez if he doesn't get his face re-arranged while he's on his feet.
Aoki is tenacious and clever, but Melendez also has great jiujitsu
skills. Aoki knows this and will look to get the fight on the ground

Could
a casino be coming to Cumberland County? A group called Penn Harris
Gaming applied for a license late Wednesday. it's hoping to bring
gambling to the Holiday Inn in Hampden Township.
Five applicants are now vying for our state's final resort and casino betting
license, including two in the midstate. We knew about the business
partners in Gettysburg. They filed Wednesday. Now there's a push for
Holiday Inn Harrisburg West.
"Shocked. I really had no inkling,
not heard one word about it so i'm very surprised," said Sen. Pat
Vance, (R) Cumberland County.
Vance said residents probably won't embrace the proposal to transform the Holiday Inn into a resort casino.
"My
guess is they're not going to like it very much," Vance said.
"Regardless of their feeling about gaming, that area is already very
congested."
The Carlisle Pike is a heavily traveled route, yet
some are willing to deal with more cars and trucks in the interest of
employment.
"The Carlisle Pike doesn't need more traffic but I
think we need more jobs in the area before we need to worry about
traffic right now," said Matt Dishner, of Mechanicsburg.
Others never imagined Holiday Inn Harrisburg West would be a casino contender.
"I didn't know that they could do that," said Teresa Smith, of Camp Hill.

We
are T-minus three days from first-round play at this year’s Masters
golf tournament at Augusta National and whadda ya know, Tiger Woods
continues to dominate the headlines.
Tiger
Woods held a press conference on Easter Monday and based on his
comments, he seems to want to take a looser approach this time around,
saying golf wasn’t enjoyable in the past and he wants to remedy that.
“When you're living a life that is a lie, life isn't fun … that's been stripped away,” Woods said at the conference.
“It feels fun again.”
Although
Tiger has four green jackets, he hasn’t won at Augusta since 2005, so
who knows, maybe the “fun” approach might help him in this year’s major
tournament.
Sportsbook Online currently have Woods listed as the odds-on favorite to win this year’s tournament at +400.
SPORTSBETTING.com manager Brian Taylor talked about the Masters betting so far, “We
really saw the betting volume pick up Monday after Tiger’s press
conference was carried live throughout North America. We’re expecting
betting action to be up about 50% this year over last year’s Masters
Tournament, and that’s based solely on the circus surrounding Tiger.”

Casino Blackjack
is the most popular casino card game in the world. The name Blackjack
arose when an American casino decided to popularize the game by paying
a bonus to any player holding the ace of spades and either the jack of
clubs or jack of spades. The object of the game is simple: obtain a
total card count higher than that of the dealer without exceeding 21.
Blackjack Rules:
Blackjack uses a six deck shoe.
The
face cards - jack, queen and king, all have a value of 10, aces count
as either 1 or 11, and the remaining cards are worth their face value.
If
your hand exceeds 21, you bust and automatically lose the hand. If you
have the same card total as the dealer, from 17 and up, no one wins and
you get your wager back in a push.
The dealer must stand on 17 and above and draw on 16 and below.
If the dealer's face-up card is an ace, you will be asked if you wish to buy insurance.
Let’s start playing casino blackjack for fun and real.
You can also play other games like Blackjack Super 7s, Omaha Hi/Lo betting for fun and real.

Let’s look at the MLB future odds and the betting action for the American League:
AL East
The New York Yankees are listed at -200 to claim another division crown.
Last year at this time, Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez was embroiled in his “steroid” scandal and what you know, this year he’s still making human growth hormone-related news.

A-Rod received treatment from Dr. Galea after undergoing hip surgery last year and postponed a recent meeting with Feds the AP went on to say.
Galea says that he didn’t provide Rodriguez with human growth hormones or steroids, rather anti-inflammatory medication.
This could be just a side note or it could develop into something more and could be a distraction.
Last week, the New York Yankees announced that Phil Hughes had secured the fifth and final spot in the team...

One game down, one upset…has it started already?
Upsets
are always a huge part of the drama around March Madness and the
Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions got things rolling with the first
small jab. The Golden Lions defeated the Winthrop Eagles 61-44 Tuesday
night in the “play-in” game. Online
sportsbook had them listed as 3.5-point underdogs heading into the matchup.
Here’s a number to keep in mind if you still haven’t filled out your
bracket yet. In the first round, double-digit favorites have a record
of 44-1 straight up the last three years…so looking for upsets in those
games doesn’t look like the best idea.
How have those double-digit favorites done against the spread in the
opening round? They’ve been profitable for the sports betting public,
producing a mark of 26-16-3 ATS.
One of the games that fits the above is the Georgetown Hoyas vs. the Ohio Bobcats.
Ranked 15th and seeded third in the Midwest, the Hoyas open the NCAA

Sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com has Georgetown as a 13.5-point favorite and the Total is set at 138.
