The Celtics are simply outmatched...

I know this thread might get bumped if the Celtics win game 2 of this series and I will look like a major asswipe, but I completely doubt any of that so let me get to what i want to say...

The Celtics are done. They beat the Magic and Cavs who choked their way out of the series and were completely over-rated in the first place. Lets take a break down at every position

Rondo- Bryant guards him and Rondo no longer penetrates as easily as he did against Mo Williams and Jameer Nelson's weak ASS defense.

Allen- Fisher kept up with him through the screens and even though Allen got free and hit a few nice jumpers, Fisher kept him under control.

Pierce- Pierce had the best collective game out of all of the celtics. He went to the line and hit 10/11 FT's. Other than that, he had a hard time getting up any field goal attempts against the hard defense of TRU WARRIOR who is the X factor to this series. His ability to guard Pierce conserves the Black Mamba's energy for the offensive end.

KG- He is definitely not the same KG from 2008. He still plays GREAT team defense, but he has become a semi-liability on the offensive end. He is playing very passively and obviously all the knee injuries have taken a toll on his body. At the end of the game, it was absolutely sad to watch him not be able to slam down that easy offensive rebound.

All of this and I have not even mentioned Pau Gasol. For all the shit he takes about being a softy, he really played like a MAN today. He played damn near the entire game and really put his imprint on the defensive side of the ball. He also made some sweet jumpers and carried the Lakers offense along with BLACK MAMBA.

This series will be decided in 5 games or less, possibly a sweep. Celtics backers...prepare to get your money

That dude thinks Tony Allen is a top 5 defender in the NBA. He should get banned from sports forever for even thinking that. Kobe just had 30 points. That's it, along with a Celtics ass whopping

Come on man. I know you like the Celtics and all, but lets be real. Pau Gasol is the 2nd best big man in the league. KG is a shell of himself. KG has pride and heart but his KNEES are CLEARLY not the same.

couldn't have said that better myself, although it might be 10 if the refs don't extend the series for Boston. I'm pounding another $500 on Lakers -whatever for game 2

scsiegel89 says:
06/04/10 12:38AM

i completely agree and that's what i put the forewarning before my analysis. the celtics could win game 2 and change the ENTIRE momentum of this series as it would head to Boston a COMPLETE new NBA FINALS

But I still think my analysis is correct and I will put the HAMMER on the Lakers game 2. BOL either way
jwheels86 says:

Gasol was gettin bitched around until the refs started calling illegal shorts wearing fouls.
scsiegel89 says:
06/04/10 12:43AM

this does not change the fact that KG's KNEES ARE NOT THE SAME The fact he could not put that easy ass offensive rebound in with a dunk shows something is wrong. This is not the first game this has happened. It has hampered him ALL SEASON. He played well against Antawn JamiSHIT and Rashitard Lewis's AWFUL DEFENSE. KG shot easily over both of them. He does not have that luxury against the long Spaniard. He made one nice turnaround shot today over Pau, but other than that he fired up bricks, got blocked, or passively passed the ball to the outside.
scsiegel89 says:
06/04/10 12:44AM

and this is why they call it gambling my friend. i could not agree more with your ANALYSIS, but i DISAGREE with your LOGIC. The Lakers will still beat the shit out of the Celtics in game 2 regardless. The Lakers are a monster at home. BOL

All players miss dunks from time to time, how many NBA games have you watched, wow, talk about a over-reaction to one play !!

KG clearly lost control of the ball on the way up, it had nothing to do with his knees.

Celtics played about as bad as they possibly could, Pierce and Allen 0-6 from 3 pt land and Allen being in foul trouble didn't help.

They'll make adjustments and bring a different game in game 2.

SharpShooter8 says:

Amazing.  Lambs to the Slaughter?  The Celtics will fold?  Doc Rivers has no answer? Veterans throw the towel in?  KG needs a wheel chair?

Game 2 - Celtics +6.  Wait since the Celtics are done after game one ...Line will likely be 8 points by Sunday game time.  Celtics +8.

hustle_man says:
06/04/10 11:37AM

That's my first reaction after reading the analysis of the OP.

1 - Rondo was abusing Bryant on offense early because Bryant is a poor help defender and kept losing track of him.  Rondo made a mistake by not taking more jump shots to keep Bryant honest.

2- Fisher guarding Allen? The only thing that kept Ray Allen from scoring 20 was the fact that he spent half of the game on the bench.

The Lakers won because they outrebounded Boston and played smart, team oriented basketball on offense.  When the Lakers started to revert back to Bryant ball, the Celtics made a run.

The Celtics are the better team in this series.  The Lakers have the most talent and better coaching staff but if the Celtics don't fold from Game 1, they'll be ok.

PGram13 says:
06/04/10 11:42AM
YEP! And the Lakers Bench hit 54 a few games ago, and Gasol and Fisher I believe hit 49 together! The better team won, and will, we can talk about the line all day, but its SU with them and the Lakers Repeat! And I am not a Kobe fan, but I am beginning to warm up to him, because he is coming to play!!!! Although, with Artest added, its ova! Probably not a sweep! IMO PG
scsiegel89 says:
06/04/10 12:05PM

Rondo a jump shooter?

Are you retarded? Every team that plays the Celtics WANTS RONDO to shoot long jumpers. they will give him open looks ALL DAY LONG.
Raiderpug says:
06/04/10 12:11PM
If the Lakers stick to their game plan, attack in the paint and use their height and skill advantage they might not lose. The Celtics will come out with everything they got in game 2 to defend the paint. If the Lakers shy away and settle for jump shots they will be in trouble, but if they stay in attack mode they will win. It would be nice if someone told Odom of the plan. Imagine Odom's body with Fisher's brain!

I see that the squares continue to be the loudest amongst the no knowledge fans that post here.

Rajon Rondo - EFG% for mid range shots 2009-2010: .511

LOL... So teams want a guy that shot 51% from 11-19 feet taking those jumpers?

Teams played off of him because they're too slow to keep him in front of the on ball defender and a PG that is able to penetrate will collapse the defense and cause open looks (The same thing the Lakers did to the Celtics to build their lead).

Have you ever played basketball before, dullard?

hustle_man says:
06/04/10 12:36PM

It's just funny to me how guys like to claim a series is over after 1 game.  I guess it makes them feel happier or more confident about their teams chances.  And I actually like the Lakers more than the Celtics.

hustle_man says:
06/04/10 03:14PM

It's important because for the Celtics to win they'll have to win 4 out of the next 6 games, 3 of which will be on the road and anyone that has followed professional sports knows that that is one of the toughest things to do.

That being said, the outlier is this year's Celtics team.  1st team in NBA History to have a better road record than home record, one of the only teams in NBA History to make it to the Finals without a member on the all NBA teams, and one of the only teams in NBA History to eliminate the 1st, and 2nd best teams in the league on the way to winning a title.

So is the 70% stat statistically significant? Based on the numbers, I'd say NO, it is not.

Heard of finals jittery?? That's what both teams had except for the fact that Lakers looked beyond that. They are still working off that humiliation and getting pushed around from the 08 series. Lakers do remember that. However, do they have a different plan? Other than the fact that both teams were anxious and Lakers having been to the finals last year it's clear in their minds about what to do. Celtics still have to get in the zone. I expect Celtics to come out as strong as ever game 2, but if they don't get it done, yeah Lakers win this year.

I can only account Phil J. as a coach with any team to WIN the series after winning game 1. That would be my ideal scenario to take the Lakers for the series after winning 1st game. GL

Rondo triple double in game 2!

Celtics to win this series vs lakers, and Rondo to get MVP of the series is how i see it.

i see a pretty even matchup, but i think the Celtics have the better bench- the celtics are more deep, and i think Boston wins this seres.

the lakers are way overprised, the lakers are a very good team, but the odds on the series are way slanted with the lakers given up to much juice, and the celtics getting much more plus money than i think they should be.

so i took the celtics in the series at plus 160,

for a even series getting plus 160 is great value, and i like my ticket.

the lakers at -190, are you kidding me, you lose almost double the money you risk betting the lakers! if they lose, and take home only just over half what you risk if they win.

no way, no wise player would lay that juice on this series,

and no decent hanicaper would think either team would sweep, this is a very close matchup and series.

the celtics plus 160 was the only way to play this series, you either take the celtics and the plus money, or you stay off,

you stay OFF the lakers at -190,

man you would have thought people would have learned after losing big backing the lakers minus even more than two to one two years ago, but i guess not,

some people still think lakers would sweep, win hands down, and risk two to one odds, that is poor judgement, very poor,

and if the lakers lose, you will lose alot of your hard earned money, and if they win, you only get just over half of what you had to risk.... come on, wake up!

and start betting with your head, not over it, and start handicapping and practicing money mangemanet, before you lose your house!

see you in another lifetime brother, good luck

And, two, like Stern would let that happen.  Think of all the money he'd lose in TV commercials.  I'm not a big basketball fan, but isn't it common knowledge that they pretty much guarantee these series' will go 6-7 games?

I don't know how something that happens 70% of the time can be considered irrelevant.  I'm not a math major but I'll assume anything that happens 70% of the time is more likely to happen than something that happens 30% of the time.

whodamanny76 says:

The Celtics are not out of the series but there's a reason why teams who win game 1 of the Finals win the championship 70% of the time.....because the better team generally asserts itself in game 1.

GO LAKERS !
