Did you know that Pittsburgh has played one game this year against a top 10 offense..... i dunno about anyone else but that really caught me by surprise... i still think their defense is good but their numbers start to look a little skewed IMO
green bay has faced a top 10 offense in 4 games this year.... i thought green bay had a tougher schedule this year but the more i examine the more lopsided it looks
Pittsburgh's defense ranked # 2 in the NFL and green bays defense ranked # 5
the more i look at the super bowl the more spot on I think the line is... just my opinion

If you read my other thread you know that I have a matchbook account and some people screwed up last after the 1st intermission thinking that market was an in-game market instead of the market for game 6. Bottom line i now have $350 to win $1.638 on the flyers on Wednesday night.
So my question is what should I do:
1.) Lay it off evenly and take my roughly $700 of free money.
2.) Lay off just the $350 or a little more and have a sizeable free bet to win on the Flyers.
3.) Lay off most of it on the Hawks and have a sizeable free bet on the Hawks.
I am really torn here, on the one side a free $700 is very nice to my bankroll (i have been cold so my bankroll has reverted to a grand) and that same note I lean Philly and could easily cancel out the $350 and essentially have the Flyers risking $0 to win $1,300 and double up my bankroll in one night if they win. It is going to be a long two days trying to decide what to do.

we are all fans first, so list your team and the teams you don't want to see them play in the playoffs.
Ottawa and Montreal
Ottawa because the Sabres have just always struggled against them, seems like no matter what the senators are going to give the Sabres fits.
Montreal because they seem to be catching fire and the right time, this team makes me nervous, they could do some damage in a best of seven series.

at what point are these dumbass players going to stop trying to cause physical harm to one another. I am sorry but there is no way you can tell me that Richard's intent was anything but to injury. This is identical to the hit on Drury, just flat out intent to injury. But when Downie did something similar to Neil and Richards he got the the book thrown at him. Difference being Downie was a rookie with a troubled past and Niel and Richards are seen as fan favorites are they respective teams.

on august 8th i was up 18 units on the baseball season, i bet mostly one unit a game (occasionaly two units) and my goal for the year is always 25 unis. Since august 8th I have gone 24-42 losing all 18 units while hitting at a 36% clip. Just insane the run I have been on lately. You coulnd't pick losers at that clip if you tried.
football season is right around the corner thank God, a good week off hopefully does me some good.

rumors are rampid that the giants and cy young pitcher Tim Lincecum are going to have contract negoations in the offseason. So today's discussion thread is what is Timmy worth?
I can't see Timmy's starting numbre being again south of 15 million per. I am thinking the Giants and Timmy settle down on a 5 year extension worth 90 million.
What are your thoughts?

After reading through another thread on this site and looking at some of the information posted in that thread as well as some information I found on the web myself, I wanted to take a few seconds to share what I found.
it is easy to see when you go down and look at the sports book detail and you will see that there is no other wager that is more profitable than parlays. the books took in 6 times as much money on parlays last year then they did on their most profitable sport (which was the NBA)
this is a great source for those of you who love correlated parlays, also big losers, there is no set of correlated parlays that hit better than 26.9%. Think about it, a two team parlay which pays 13-5 hitting at a 26.9% or less. that is what I call a moneymaker.
this shows not only how parlays are sucker bets but also how TEASERS are sucker bets as well. Anyone who plays teasers needs to read this for sure. The added points on a teaser are designed to get you to take on more games, when this happens advantage casino.
bottom line is that a 60% capper (which very few are) is going to hit a two team parlay at a 36% clip. Now think about this a top tier capper is going to hit a 13-5 parlay at a 36% clip. Even against a top tier capper the books are s... [More]

according to NHL live this afternoon, the league has said the earliest the Stanley Cup Playoffs can start is Friday June 5th. If both teams wrap up their series by Wednesday the NHL could have a 8 day layoff before the Stanley Cup Finals start.
This is just another example of Buttman trying to please an audience that isn't interested in the sport and kiss network ass. If this shit happens I will be so pissed, the question though is what to do about it, I can't possible stop watching hockey.

i debated with myself whether or not to post this because i am fearful the ranger fans and devil fans will hijack this thread and turn it into a bitching contest, but I have decided to open this up for discussion hoping it won't happen.
i have always felt like Henrik Lundqvist is one of the more overated goalies in the NHL to begin with. So after reading game wrap-ups after game 2 & 3 it further drove home my point.
The game 2 wrap-up suggested Henrik was amazing and that the only reason the rangers won that game was because of his amazing goaltending. Then I read game 3 and it suggesting the Henrik had no chance on any of the goals and the reason the rangers lost was because of the piss poor performance by the defence.
The love fest the media has with this guy is sickening, when the rangers win it is because Henrik Lundqvist is an amazing goaltender who is top 3 in the league and when the rangers lose it is because the defence in front of him played horribly and he had no chance.
I just think that Henrik Lundqvist is overated and not even a top 5 goaltender in the league. His numbers benefit from playing in a system with a strong defense that keeps shots to the outside and clogs the middle preventing the cross-ice pass (which I believe is his biggest weakness, moving side to side.) I think he would have a GAA above 3 if he had to go play for a team like Buffalo or Atlanta, that doesn't play good defense.
So do you agree or... [More]

Why Baseball Needs a Salary Cap.
My first ever blog is happening because of the recent spending spree of baseball’s most loved and hated team. The signing today of Mark Texeira made me think, how many teams have the ability to even sign these high end talents? Here you have a team spending $430 + million so far this offseason, a number most of the league can’t even afford to spend. If my team has no chance at signing high end talent then why should I even bother to watch baseball anymore. The Indians will never have the ability to spend anywhere near the kind of money the Yankees are and if they can’t spend the money then the chance of them getting the talent necessary to compete with the Yankees is slim. I know the Yankee fans will say look at Tampa Bay this year, they got to the World Series didn’t they? Yes they did, but how often does that happen? Baseball’s free agent market is becoming a monopoly and if we won’t allow it in business why are we allowing it in sport? The fact of the matter is the Yankees are going to spend more in payroll this year then over 80% of the league’s team revenues. The Yankees payroll last year was 209 million and change. There is only 4 teams in the MLB that have team revenues above that number (Mets $235m, Red Sox’s $263m, Dodgers $224m, Cubs $214m). That is absurd to me. There are 25 MLB teams that have less revenue than the Yankees hav... [More]
