rumors are rampid that the giants and cy young pitcher Tim Lincecum are going to have contract negoations in the offseason. So today's discussion thread is what is Timmy worth?

I can't see Timmy's starting numbre being again south of 15 million per. I am thinking the Giants and Timmy settle down on a 5 year extension worth 90 million.

What are your thoughts?

my thoughts are that it is bullshit that these fools and other "professionals" in sports get paid this ridiculous amount of money, not that they arent good at what they do...but seriously...these guys are way overpaid..

Agreed, it's gonna be tough to give him less than 15M per year. Ridiculous or not that's the market value. Funny thing is even if he gets 20M he still won't be the highest paid starter in the rotation!!!

Tim is one of the best. I think the settlement would be even more than that.
Do you think they would let him go to another team?

He's eligible for arbitration so he won't get the monster contract like he deserves. My guess is he'll sign somewhat similar to what Cole Hamels (3yrs/20mil) received with the phillies last year if he agrees to a contract.

Tim's slte build might be a factor, scouts thought he wouldn't hold up.

You don't want to pay to much for a guy that may break-dn on you at any time.

Business: They want to much, he gets traded. Wantaaaa bet?
